I got cabbage, carrots, broccoli, onions, celery, garlic, peppers, potatoes, canned tomatoes, canned salsa, ww flour, pinto beans, flax seed meal, garbanzo beans, brown rice, oats, bananas, and raisins for a month for two for $60, which provides much more bulk, fiber, protein, phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals. But we always buy 25# bags of wheat, oats, rice, and legumes from Azure Standard for even more savings. With that savings, we get herbs and spices to liven up our meals. It doesn't take much time to cook dried beans in an instant pot or even on the stove, which we turn into soups, chili, hummus, chole dal, burros, and more. It's also quick to grind and mix wheat for pizza, pasta, rolls, sandwich bread, flatbread, pita, etc. Potato dishes are easy, endless, and delicious. People can be incredibly healthy on a food stamps budget. It's even less money if you learn to grow dry beans, veggies, and potatoes.
Thanks!!! Thankfully our kids love just about everything we make and we try to keep our diet pretty clean and healthy. Our cats are the best 🥰 our torty is very pretty! She’s a bit sassy too lol
I will say that yeast is very allergenic. So if anyone starts getting any joint pains, try cutting out the yeast and that will probably help. I had three people in my family with that. And the only reason I knew about it was cuz I was attending a medical center where I saw people reversing all of their joint pain by going on a yeast free diet.
Yes! Love this knowledge. I know a lot of joint issues as well as other illnesses are due to inflammatory foods. I’ve never had or tried to make yeast free food….maybe I should try! Anything to do what’s best for our bodies I’m on board to give a go. Thanks for sharing 💜
A lot of great choices for such a low price! I would also recommend occasionally toasting the bread for the peanut butter and jelly. I feel like it just makes it taste like a little bit of a different meal. That might be sacrilege to Americans though, lol 😂
lol! It’s a great suggestion. Don’t know why we didn’t think to do this! The kids love toasted pb and j. We also like adding bananas to it, it was Elvis’s favorite ❤️
The irony of avoiding sugar, but getting white rice, which is metabolically basically the same thing … why is the list not held up on screen so we can actually see what’s on it…
I appreciate your insight but I have to disagree! Eating rice is NOT equivalent to eating sugar. Rice will become glucose in the body, while sugar is a 50/50 mixture of glucose and fructose. Sure, rice has a higher glycemic index than sugar (that's because half of sugar - the fructose - doesn't contribute to the blood sugar level), but the glycemic index itself doesn't say much. Rice isn't usually eaten separately. If eaten in a meal with other food, the glycemic index of rice (and with other foods as well) decreases dramatically. Cooked rice is far more nutritious than sugar, and it is also much lower in carbohydrates and calories. Most importantly, in addition to carbs, rice also contains protein, dietary fiber, B vitamins, and minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium, and phosphorus.
I'm confused. She wanted to feed her family of 8 for a week (7 days) for $1 per person per day. That would be $56 ($8 x 7 days). So why was she aiming for $40? Did she mean a 5-day work week (that would be $8 x 5 = $40)?

Love this! Sounds like you’re very health conscious and budget savvy 💕
Love your comment because I shop the same way! 🥦🍅🥕🫛🥔🥒🥑🌽🍠🫑🥬
It's great to see kids eating veggies and beans and enjoying it 🥰 Also what a cutie tortoiseshell cat you have!

Definitely can do dried beans! We do both canned and dry
