CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Ernie (Nathan Lane) sets hundreds of mousetraps but the mouse defeats them all.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Gore Verbinski, the TV-commercials director responsible for the Budweiser frogs, directed this Adam Rifkin screenplay about two brothers (Nathan Lane and Lee Evans) who inherit a string factory and a decaying country home after the death of their father (the late William Hickey, in his last role). After moving in, they learn that the house has historical architectural importance and is valued in the millions. However, they are constantly tormented by a mouse within the walls. They engage in cartoon-like combat against the rodent, but it manages to outwit the brothers in successive situations. Both live and animatronic mice portray the title role, and some scenes assume the mouse's point of view. The film is dedicated to William Hickey.
CREDITS:
TM & © Dreamworks (1997)

Can we just say how much of a masterpiece this movie was?
YUP!
it was an absolute masterpiece
*is
I wish 2Pac could have lived long enough to see this movie in 1997 :(
Agreed. I've always loved this movie.
bruh lets just say we all forgot about this movie but are glad we strangely remembered to search for this in our mid 20's/30's
Recommended* but definitely nostalgic trip when dvds were a thing.
yes
watch this when i was a kid
It just wound up in my feed and this is the only scene I remember.
Eerily yes.
The music had no right to be this good. Absolute perfection.
If u think its do perfect, then y would u say it had no right to b this good? 🤔
A comedic triumph of a film. Gore Verbinski is such an underrated director and his talent was 110% clear from the very beginning, but the world just continued to shrug him off. The man's a beast.
Don’t understand why some didn’t enjoy this film, it’s a classic, with such brilliant actors
I saw this film when it was new, I was a 6 year old. The mayor dying from eating a cockroach's head made me feel bad, let's put it simply. The part with the tub flying out the door was OK, but didn't the mouse bite the exterminator's testes? Not that I understood that then, but it's easy enough to see *why* a few people might want to not watch it.
@@101Voltsmouse didn’t bite the exterminator but he did lock him in a trunk in the attic after dragging him through the whole house.
"cheese tires them out, they need fruit for energy". LMAO this movie was fantastic
I love how Ernie keeps acting like he knows what the mouse is doing
I don't care what people say, I love this film.
Same here! What an enjoyment!
Me too, I remember the first time I saw this movie. Oh, the good times.
Same, just found the VHS and it's just as good as when I first saw it, great film and the critics can go stuff themselves.
and the music so good
Somebody remembered all the Tom and Jerry cartoons growing up. You can see that in alot of the situations they get into.
This was my childhood
Mine too, when I was 3 or 4.
1990 - 2000 period
Riley Tebbetts mine too!
Yo me too. I cried a lot when the two mens destroy the mouse small, cute house. I cried to my mom and asked" Mom, please build a home for the mouse ". I just cried and cried. And I was too small when I last watched this movie so I forgot the name. And then just search " Mouse english movie". And then I saw a thumbnail of a mouse sleeping in a small tin. And I shout like a mad. "HERE IT IS, HERE IT IS. WHERE DID YOU RUN AWAY FRON ME THIS LONG TIME " . YEYYYYYYYYYY. Then my mother shout and asked me what happened and I said that I found my childhood movie, the mouse movie, mouse hunt and my mother also bursted to laughter 😂. I'm really happy that I got this movie. This movie was my fav ever. And the sweet little Mouse is also my favourite . ....... ❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😘😘😘💋💋

I watch this movie with my grandpa al the time so many memmories
Hey, what is the name of this movie, i could not find it on google i want to download it
This whole movie is hilarious. This is one of the funniest scenes. The very first scene in the movie is beyond hilarious. What are the odds their father dives into the sewer hole?
I was kid and still laughed my butt off!. Lol..
This whole movie was a slapstick cartoon lmao! 😂😂😂
@@genociderex93imperator84 I find it odd that several people are now commenting on my comments that I left almost a decade ago. You're the fourth person to comment this year. And I hardly ever use this account.
@@dolphinsatsunset1 Your comment left an impression on this community
When I was a kid, I used to love the movie! It has a very mature story, and it relates to kids and adults! To this day I still love this movie, with the nature situation and story, and even some childish jokes that adults can understand!
I'd like this movie better if the humor weren't as mean-spirited as it is.
I used to live this movie too!
I got this on VHS when it came out. Me and my mom would watch this all the time. I didn't get all the humor as a kid but now I'm an adult and this movie a complete gem.
When I was a kid I enjoyed the jokes and slapstick comedy. As an adult, I still enjoy all of that but I now understand the entire subplot and more mature themes. It's a solid movie. That's for sure.
It's like Home Alone, but with mice.
The best comment.
Catzilla More like Tom and Jerry, but with two humans.
Catzilla I thought the same thing pal
TimeTravelinc الحمدلله مرهfyazasaeednbytfjgrlkdq
Catzilla or Sylvester vs. Speedy Gonzales.
appluase to whoever trained that mouse!
I'm pretty sure, the mouse is animated because it doesn't even look real. It still looks cute though.
I saw an extra in the special features for this film, The used a trained mouse, but I think some parts they must of used special effects
You were right. In fact I copied an article which I will paste below if you have an interest in reading it. It's very interesting.
MOUSE HUNT
The Mouse
Starring in the title role of "Mouse Hunt" is... the mouse. It is actually an ensemble performance delivered by a combination of real mice, an animatronic mouse and a computer-generated (CGI) mouse.
With the help of veteran animal trainer Boone Narr, director Gore Verbinski decided on an average-looking brownish-gray field mouse, about three inches long and 28 grams in weight. Once they had decided on the type of mouse, Narr and his team began training 60 mice to perform the complex stunts and tricks they would have to perform in the film. Grouped in teams of four or five, the mice had to be taught to do basic running and climbing stunts, as well as more intricate actions, including climbing into a sardine can bed beneath a tissue paper comforter.
"We had jumpers, we had climbers, we had retrievers...," Narr offers. "Mice are very intelligent. There are scenes where they come out and grab an olive and take off with it, or retrieve a Cheerio, or jump from one object to another... multiple things in one take with no cuts. Most people think mice can't do that, but they can."
The mice became so beloved that many of the "Mouse Hunt" cast and crew adopted them after shooting was completed.
"The whole fun of the movie is that you believe that this is a real mouse doing the things that a real mouse does," says Cohen. "But there are moments in the film where the mouse is called upon to perform things that a real mouse can't actually do or do safely, so we used the animatronic mouse or the computer-generated mouse as the 'stunt mouse.'"
The visual effects team from Rhythm & Hues Studios was responsible for overseeing the complex visual mouse effects. According to Rhythm & Hues' visual effects supervisor Charles Gibson, "The goal with 'Mouse Hunt's' visual effects was to make people believe we had the world's most amazing trained mouse, and never a CGI creation."
Having collaborated with director Gore Verbinski on the Budweiser "Frogs," Academy Award®winning special effects wizard Stan Winston and his team were brought in to create an animatronic mouse. The animatronic mouse was mainly employed for close-up work where the camera had to capture facial expressions and movements that would be hard to get from a real mouse.
wow, guess you learn something new everyday! Cheers for that! :)
+dolphinsatsunset1 there are some bits in the film where the mouse in cgi like when it was sliding down the staircase
This movie is like Laurel and Hardy, Tom and Jerry and Home Alone combined.
And ratatouille too
Akaaraq Hansen What’s Laurel and Hardy? Is it about a grumpy guy and a stupid guy?
@@pussthepupanddonkeythedog5135 they're a comedy duo that are well known for that. I'm pretty sure the cast or writer or director mentioned Laurel and Hardy as an influence.
and saw
With Mario and Luigi as the main characters. (They look similar.)
Nathan's eyes as soon as all the traps went off is priceless LOL
"Oh s***."
Got outsmarted by a mouse
I really enjoyed this movie as a kid but I soon realize something watching this clip again. Does he really need to be afraid though? I mean if they stayed still, wouldn't it be safer? Mousetraps are designed to close shut in milliseconds so if one flies towards you, its probably already activated and shut tight before it can even reach you. So them panicking and rolling on the traps was completely unnecessary. 😂😂😂
1:04 Even if he is trying to get rid of the mouse, he still has to compliment it. How can you not?
The music and visuals of this movie are fantastic
This is an eternal gem I will never tire of this movie
1:27 Shh! He's going for the cherries
You said mice like gouda.
@@nilesclifford9704 Not in the morning! Cheese tires them out, they need fruit for energy!
0:25 It’s not a T-Rex,Ernie! 🦖
was very lucky to watch this in cinema back in 1997. I'm now 33 years old there wont be films like this again
Love how the mouse ignores all of the food on the mousetraps and drops that cherry on top on one of the mousetraps to set all of the traps on Ernie and Lars! XD!
Mouse give a little Ralphie "heh-ha."
Nathan Lane's Face Cracks Me Up😂😂😂 1:57
"Oh God, this is it!"
Tom and Jerry but with human beings lol I love this movie still
Nathan lane as mario and lee Evans as luigi.Chefs kiss

Arnold Cheng Ki Lim no I agree why did they deliberately roll forward? That's the best part!
Arnold Cheng Ki Lim ِ
They rolled in it for the sake of slapstick comedy

Only Nathan Lane and Lee Evans can do this.
Nathan Lane looks like he could have played Mario in a super mario bros movie.
Yes I went there, and yes I love that movie.
I thought he would make a great inspector in a pink panther movie
That was the cringiest game-turned-movie I've ever seen.
DemomanX614 werido lol
Or Inspector Clouseau in the 2006 Pink Panther movie
Lee evans should have played Luigi in super mario bros.
I loved the innovative concept of a factory making Strings & Ropes starts making string cheese with the mouse being the quality assessment specialist 😅
I laugh every time I see this scene when the traps go off, and I liked how the mouse swinged from the light switch at 0:58 like a gymnast or Spider-Man was cool. This movie brings me back memories from my childhood watching it on VHS tape in grammar school when I was 8 years old. 😂😂😂
Such an underrated movie, brilliant performances
"That was good" I love that! 😂
Fun fact: Nothing about this scene was done digitally. The crew had to set, bait, and wire 800 mousetraps by hand every single time they did a take of this scene.
Not quite. The mouse jumping and swinging on the light was clearly CGI.
Best part of the movie. I love the chain reaction with the traps.
To this day even this movie still makes me laugh it's such a masterpiece
Still one of the greatest movies I've seen to this day
This movie should of been called the origins of jerry
One of the best comedies I have ever seen.
So classy, so emotional.
0:58-1:01. Wow. That is one gymnastic mouse. LOL.
Andrew Toone yaa
That was good.....

How the heck did the mouse jump and turn on the light at the same time wow that’s a talented little mouse
That's one smart mouse

Ernie ernie.
They were all ready for it. They accepted the fact that they weren’t gonna walk away from that and just roll into the pain and suffering.
Better to just get it over and done with
Nathan Lane's Face XD 😂😂😂 1:57
Yes let's roll onto the hundreds of mouse traps that are going off lmfao god I love this part its just pure gold 😆
I've always laughed so hard at how all those mouse traps snapped, just by one small touch from that cherry stem! They looked like they were in for a dangerous tidal wave of mouse traps, then!
1:57-2:04
Those guys looked like they were about to get eaten by a great white!
Yes, it's like a horror movie moment there.
*Mouse sees 2 guys place a bunch of mouse traps*
Mouse: easy
A world without string is chaos.
This movie is crazy funny in more ways than one.
I'll never get tired of this film 😂😭
If the mouse could talk, he would say “Mouse traps? Very clever. Not falling for that. I want something else.” (Goes around to the top of the fridge) “Bingo. Cherries. And we have lift off!”
Kevin reincarnated as a mouse
This scene just happened upon me through my feed, but I remember I had this movie on VHS and would play it over and over again as a kid. I forgot about it for a while, to be honest.
when mice have 200 IQ
I love how the dude with the mustache shows respect to that mouse.
1:56 Ouch That gonna Hurt And That gonna leave a Mark
Several marks.I was rooting for the mouse
I love how they didn't even wait for the "wave" of mousetraps to fully reach them, and they just started rolling around on the floor
It's like ripping off a band-aid. The sooner you get it over with, the better.
Tom and his friend trying to catch jerry but

Is that what we should’ve said about Bill Cosby and his jello pudding pops?
@@phillipwalling7470not in the morning cheese tries them out, and they need fruit for energy.
"You silly humans think you can outwit me. Tee hee." is probably what the little guy thought when he set off those mouse traps.
Gore Verbinski is a true master of his craft.
I love this movie
Not in every movie story is important but the important is the one that is happening on top of the screen
There is nothing special in this movie's story but the detailing is there and the smoothness in this movie makes it best movie
Today's movies have only a lot of action sound and dialogues.
These days no such movies are made
If you are reading a book, then the story is important, but in the case of a movie, what is happening above the screen more than the story is important.
Ahh the memories. I don’t care what score Mouse Hunt received on rotten tomatoes, it’ll always remain in my heart as a beloved classic. ❤️
I laughed so hard to this film. Grew up with it as a kid and loved it immediately. Saw it with my uncle in theaters when it came out. I didn't know which one of us laughed harder.
That mouse 🐁 is so cute😄😄😄😄😊👍🏻!!! I’m glad to see he’s okay😊👍🏻
Sometimes I feel sorry for Ernie and Lars.
More like Tom & Jerry: Jerry avenging Tom's animal control nerds.
I think the same thing with you. Watching this video, I think of the famous cartoon Tom and Jerry.

Mice are smarter than we've discovered. 🐀💡
Nostalgic.

This is one of my dad and I's favorite movies!
Thumbs up to those who thinks the mouse is adorable in this movie
“Shut up. I’m thinking, I’m thinking!” Why weren’t you thinking about where to put those traps in the first place
Laurel and Hardy comes to mind :P
This scene puts me at once in mind of Stan and Ollie, or Bud and Lou for that matter. Ah, they don't make like that much anymore!
I thought the same exact thing!
"This is Hitler with a tail, The Omen with whiskers!!! NOSTRADAMUS didn't see this thing coming!!" - Ernie, later in the film😂😂
That mouse was too clever for its own good. 🤣
I've always called this the domino effect.
Crazy smart mouse
