- In 1999, Konami released a small gem for the Gameboy Color that was one of the earliest founding games of today's super popular survival genre. Survival Kids introduced us to managing bodily needs and crafting items, two mechanics that would go on to become staples of the survival genre. It was an awesome game that sparked my interest and love for the genre!
You play as either a boy or girl stranded on an island after a monstrous storm capsizes the cruise ship they were on. In true survival game fashion, there are multiple ways to escape the island - here they are!

Yeah! When I got the raft ending when I was a kid, I didn't think about it too much. But now, I'm like holy crap!!

i was never able to nurse the other kid back to health cause I was too impatient. He just kept eating all my food and never got better

This game is my best game ever i play. I love the graphic and the music. I love the new map too in the north island

I never heard of Survival Kids until very recently, and I just beat it. It's really cool for the era! Definitely a "guide dang it" kinda game though. I got completely stuck at a few points and needed a walkthrough to keep me going.
I got endings 2 4:08 and 6 12:07. I played as the girl, and nursed the boy back to health, but I guess I didn't give him enough food to score the eighth ending.
I didn't want to play through the game up to six more times, so thanks for showing off the other endings!

I was just telling my little brother about how dark this game was and how it made me weird about playing games in apocalypse/survival/no other npc games that he personally enjoys as I got older, like fallout.
Just as dark as I remember. I never read the lord of the flies due to the trauma this game caused me 🤣
He never played this game, it was specifically gifted to me. The amount of haunting loneliness it instilled you while playing was wild. How old are the kids supposed to be anyway, theoretically??
The intro cutscene says that the kids were on that cruise ship for their 10th birthday. Poor kids!

I played lost in blue in nds. Seems it is like the lost in blue in gameboy colour version for 1980's kids. Haha
Lost in Blue is the NDS version of Stranded Kids
What was that message at the end? "Go for the best! A new challenge awaits!"?
If you save after getting all the endings, your file will start "Round 2". The only thing that is different is that you get a special hat for your character.

Yes, the endings are exactly the same save for swapped positions for the boy and girl.

@@ivyw5862 I want a remake too. Unfortunately, since the last Survival Kids game was that Wii one way back in 2008, it seems like the series is on indefinite hiatus. I'm still holding out for a sequel/remake though!

@@ivyw5862 I haven't played it yet sadly! It is called Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked. There is whole other series for the Nintendo DS called Lost in Blue, and they are basically the spiritual successors to Survival Kids. I DID play those, and they are pretty good, but I like Survival Kids more.

How did you record this?
A few clips I recorded using the emulator's in-game recording option, but most of them I used Nvidia GeForce Experience's video recorder.
I mean how can you get this game? And where did you get it?
@@NgoViGiaPhuA Survival Kids is a Gameboy Color game, so if you want to play it on your computer you will need an emulator. Google "BGB" for a good Gameboy Color emulator. I can't tell you where to get the game though because specific emulation discussion is not allowed, but Google is your friend!
