God, what a gem ,this conversation! What an artist, what a magical pianist he was. Thank you so much for this upload And such a delicious sense of humor
Thanks for uploading this wonderful interview! Cherkassky was a very special pianist, and he also had a good sense of humor. I will never forget the many concerts he played in Amsterdam, mostly invited by Mr. Riaskoff.
Thank you for a wonderful interview! For any Shura Cherkassky fans or music fans in general I strongly recommend Elisabeth Carr's book on him. It's a wonderful insight into this great artist's life.
I wanted to get every microsecond, leave nothing out, so that every Cherkasskyism would be preserved. What a personality, and what a pianist! Perhaps the two aspects buttress each other?

All these tapes of David Dubal interviewing the pianists are invaluable. I wondered why Cherkassky was not anywhere. Well, here he is!!!
Wonderful transport back 50 years to WQXR Radio, New York....David Dubal.....Thank you....from Acapulco!
In keeping with Cherkassky's personality this interview with Dubal is wonderfully spontaneous and free wheeling.
