Just to hear the Gershwin "Lady Be Good" variations composed an dplayed by Earl Wild is worth a listen to. The whole interview is excellent and very interesting as Earl Wild reflects on trying to earn a living during the depression, playing the Rhgapsody in Blue (which he had to elarn in a week) for a recording with Toscanini (and then being regarded as the know-all expert on this piece), and playing transcriptions of Liszt's student Carl Tausig. Just listen to this! Thanks for posting.
Earl Wild was my favorite pianist as a kid in the 70's via Readers Digest vinyl LPs - never heard him speak before - impeccable technique and musicality!
Earl Wild was a great pianist , I do not think that he got the recognition that he deserved though . He was in the Horowitz Rubinstein category and should of been treated as such !!!!!

Likewise!
Tausig died young, I'm always eager to hear more of his music
