Similar issue to what I was having with my Toyota Sienna. I adjusted my alternator serpentine belt again and then checked the fuse too. This tip helps, thanks bro!
Another way to check fuses (albeit takes longer) turn the car off, disconnect the ground, and pull fuses until you find the blown one (you’ll see black/brown fire debris inside)
Thanks you so much! It’s been a hard year and I didn’t want to pay the crazy prices for a new car this time around and now I’ve been learning how to do all my own work. At 40, it’s not too hard, but I do wish car price would just come down I don’t like driving cars over 4 to 5 year because of all this work. I’ve save over 3k so far and that’s even after buying all the tools.
I have a 2006 Tundra SR5 4.0 V6 and I suspected my alternator was going, took the truck to O' Reilly, they tested it and it failed. Bought a reman alternator and replaced my battery and belt too. I am having the same problem. The truck starts up no problem, battery gauge drops at idle...
Hey.. Good video.. My wife has a 2008 Suzuki xl7.. We replaced alternator and it worked for like 5 days but still drained battery.. So I thought maybe it's the battery.. Got another battery and it worked for like a day then the same thing.. It's like it keeps draining the battery.. Any suggestions?? Is it the fuse like you suggested?? And btw.. I don't have a machine to check power of fuses.. Do they do that at Auto zone?? Sorry for all the questions
the machine to check is called a multimeter. and you can buy one at autozone, home depot, a lot of places. search how to check fuses, and then you can do it
I have same vehicle 2011 and tried a few things 3 new alternators got 8.8v from field wire from PCM but still not charging is there something I am missing I been at this for months I remember the days when alternator went bad just replace it or the voltage regulator now you have to figure out what the hell is controlling what.
I have a battery light on in vw Jetta 2011 new battery and alternator new alternator fuse new fuses in engine and under steering wheel. Still no power being transferred from alternator to battery. Only pulling 11.05 . Tension belt is tight. Ground wire is good. What else could it be??
I installed a new battery and alternator and checked all fuses but the battery light is still on and when I disconnect the battery while the car is running the car dies. I checked the wires going into the alternator the smaller one read 38 V both times I tested and the bigger wire got 12.2 the same as the battery. What should I do?

It's impossible not to, the way it's wired." It did not come on & because it didn't, it took me awhile to figure out what was wrong, as I ASSUMED the idiot light would've come on.
@@AutoRepairTips757 This happened last year. As i recall, YES, the idiot light comes on when I turn the key to the "on" position. Will double check 2 morro.. Just happened on my '95 Isuzu 2.3L pickup... I just changed the alt. 3 hours ago. It was charging very little: 13v., so my battery would not start truck on really COLD mornings. you could get a cheap multimeter at harbor freight for less than 10 bucks..but you'll need to know how to use it

How do you check to know which fuse is bad? Is there a quick way to check without bringing to the shop? Thanks.
You need to pull a schematic

Take it to a mechanic they should sort it for you yes it will cost but better then being stuck in traffic

The alternator shorted out you could actually smell it
