That opinion on dog parks. I loved it. Small dogs are not well trained and in most of the case which I enocuntered they are responsible for a fight but the big dog is the guilty one

Structure is the single most important manners foundation you can do. I've got a new corso at 10 wks. He's already sitting and letting me go through doors first, even with food present. No rushing. Only lives in the lounge and downstairs, has access to the back of the house freely but supervised everywhere else. Loves his crate after just a few days and volunteers himself to it for sleep now as his bed. Fine in the car, doesnt, not so easy to get out once he's comfy but walk away and not long after he walks out. Very clever dog, but you really need to sit down with yourself prior to getting one and think about what you will and will not allow from day one. Get familiar with some adults prior to a puppy, because you will then get a feel for what that little puppy will become. You have to in many ways treat them as adults from the beginning. The bond I already have with this guy is only undermined when turns into a hyper psycho for an hour in an evening, won't listen, chews everything in sight but I use this time to either get him into toys such as pulling excercises and chew things I direct him to, which can be an endless torrent of redirections but its all training.

I have a rottie. She's ten months. I have to go look outside when she hears something. I want her to bark but I want her to stop once I "clear" everything. I think it helps her to know the difference in a real threat without playing up her anxiety in those situations because it's usually the wind or a kid on a bike lol I learned that this is better for her than just telling her "it's okay" or "be quiet". I want her to alert me when it's appropriate

My puppy is now 15 weeks old and as big, many people think its adult. I have heard so many saying, ou you need to teach your dog to behave, not to jump on people etc. And then I try to explain that Im am training her all the time but it takes time. She cant behave as adult yet and do all I want. It takes lifetime. People seem to think puppy is always very little one...And your right , training all the time is tiring but rewarding too. I knew this when getting puppy, thanks to you and Jason plus Will.

I would like to hear your perspective on Well behaved dog vs. a Well trained dog. Because there are dogs that are perfectly behaved but for what ever reason they aren’t to keen on commands (my Caucasian Shepherd is like this lol) then you have dogs that will do commands perfectly but if they aren’t in a command they have mediocre manners and are destructive at times. Would love to see a video with your thoughts on that, but loved the video keep it up ! P.S. peach really is looking good !

As a dog trainer of 30yrs and someone who's trained and rescued thousands of dogs from various ages, breeds and backgrounds at this point, crate training is absolutely VITAL. I always recommend crate/kennel training regardless if you use it daily or not simply because you never know when an emergency will hit and they have to be kenneled. I'd much rather have the kennel training done and the dog okay with it that way if theres ever an emergency vet overnight stay, a boarding facility needed due to family emergency or heaven forbid a house fire and someone have to keep a dog and kenneling is needed short term, that is one less facet that is needed to be worried/stressed about not to mention the less risk of injury during those situations which would only add insult to injury.

I’m always comforting my pup when he gets nervous, he’s so nice and relatively well behaved I Honeslty thought I was doing the right thing and that’s just how I am as a person anyway so to me it’s only right to be protective of my dog too but I also don’t want him to be to soft and have to rely on me all the time so finding a perfect sweet spot is what I need to find with everything.

Love to watch and rewatch your videos keep up the great work. I appreciate another Cane Corso owner admitting the struggle it definitely helped me to not feel alone and to too see success could be reached.Structure is also where we failed initially. Every dog we had previously felt privileged to have all the freedom love time being played with getting treats ect. Our Corso felt like he was then the king and by 6 months old he ran the show. So we had to implement structure ASAP and it made a world of difference almost immediately. I also had never had a dog who cared so little about pleasing me. Now he is 18months old and that has changed but his personality is still that he just isn't too super interested in treats or cuddles or toys. Food is so so but overall he is just blah about most everything which does make training a bit more challenging but more rewarding at the same time.

Cane Corso are the best dog. I've one I called Kenny. They're the most gentle and obedient. Those who judges should be judge on how they raise any dog, starting with Tzitsu. She talk crap. Just don't chained any dogs or put them in small confinement. Be with your dog for most of their time, and you're good. Btw, my cat is more dangerous than my cane Corso.

Best part is you have explained how to go about socialization. I detailed on on how to introduce a reserved breed like Corse with stragers as well as other dogs will be awesome. I intend to get a Cane Corso. Keep it up. Cheers

Hi! Thanks for what you're doing! Videos are very informative and helpful! At the moment my male cane corso is 3 months old. We have him now only for 1 week and everything seems to go pretty fine, he's amazing! The only thing...he does not like to go outside. We live in quite a noisy place with people going around, and cars and so on...No possibility to get started from quite private yard as yours..So, from one side, I want him to poop outside and I know it's time to go. From another side, he sometimes refuses to go...I'm confused with finding balance between making him do what I want (and not what he wants) and not creating bad associations for him...And one more related question: when dog is doing something wrong and does not stop after you tell him to stop - what's next? Do you ever apply physical strength to stop him / punish? I no way mean to hit him hardly, especially at such a young age..but is physical punishment is acceptable at all? If not, what's next after he ignored your voice and you need immediately stop what he's doing? Thanks.

I found this information valuable, and relatable, however I question whether you can say you don’t have ‘expectations’ of them in a social situation despite the fact you also hope to train them as having a ‘neutral’ temperament in social situations (when that is not their innate behaviour or background breeding purpose). So what I am asking is are you training them to be ‘neutral’ or are you training them to purely listen to your command as alpha? To my understanding they will always be protective, innate nature cannot be change, merely trained to accomodate situations.

I train Cane Corsos for family protection. You should start bite work with your dogs while they are puppies. It's important that a dog purchased for protection knows how to bite. These dogs are my second favorite breed to work. My number one is the Belgian Malinois. Unless you are experienced dog owner this is not a breed for a first time owner especially if the person isn't going to spend money and time getting a trainer. Not every breed is for everybody. These dogs are like having a loaded gun walking around great dogs very high protective instincts. I

And the cane Corso can quickly hurt another dog.. the Corso is like the face tattooed guy walking around in a crowd… it’s automatic that people cringe and become suspicious… it doesn’t really matter if the person with the face tattoo is a decent person,,, They are judged by appearance initially…

You've been talking a lot about training. My question is, do you go to a personal trainer with them for their whole life? Like, do you just go there with them f.e. every Saturday until they pass away or till some age?

We used a trainer for Dante and would meet with him once a week. He would give us things to work on with Dante throughout the week. Now we are just using what we learned from those classes with Peach and continue to practice them with Dante.

Providing structure allows your dog to relax. Once they know the rules, they don’t have to worry about doing the wrong thing. Providing structure is not a power trip. It’s for the good of your dog.

Hello, we have 7 month cane corso. We got her when she was 2 months old. We put in training to learn how to socialize. Shadow and I play hide and seek a lot.(not sure that is good) her actions shows that she will run away. My baby is very scared always. It doesn't matter what we do. She is kinda of flip flop with ppl. I'm starting take her out to be more social bc I believe she needs it bc she submissive to ppl. I want that but I also don't want her be scared of ppl or new things.. We live in our apartment complex for about 4 months and she does that too bite our toes. Now, we are having many issues, she gets excited. We are trying to nip in the bud asap bc its ridiculous. She doesn't listen to me much especially outside. She is stubborn ass shit. Some days I wanna fight her. What advice do you have? My wife wanted a cane corso not necessarily me. I just wanted a dog not a big ass dog. I love her to death though.

About socializing. My experience with Mastiff doggs in generel, is to keep a very open eye if meeting bulldogs and terriers. English Bulldogs can be hard to read (their snoaring sound can be misunderstood). Terriers, because of their high level charging energy. Remember.. This is a highly "sensitive" Guard dog. You dont want a Corso to think the other dog as a threat, if its not!

I just erased a whole paragraph of things I wanted to share and realized “ who the hell am I”...lol.
But I will share what I feel are the most valuable commands to teach are. In order of most to...well, most are will save you frustration.
    1) Wait!
    2) “Go Home!”
    3) “Go to Bed”
    4) Come or Recall
I teach this command in a different language. Why? I don’t want strangers being able to summon my dog. A Corso is an Italian mastiff, there for I use the Italian word “Seguito (seh-gwe-toh)” , means to follow or together.

SO agree with you about dog parks. Where we live, people let their dogs off leash all the time and they are permissive and not leaders. And your comment about "the bad math grades" AWESOME metaphor! Your video is excellent; great leadership mindset skills here. :-)

I will soon be an owner of a Cane Corso so in my search for more information I came across your content; I like your advice, but It would really be helpful to see videos of you actually performing the training; I am not a trainer but I have had Staffordshire Terriers most of my life, three at once which mean I am not a new dog owner and I have experience with dog ownership; with that I find seeing the correct way to perform that training is very helpful because knowing and doing are different and people may take the tips but not perform the action correctly. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with this breed.

All of this information is what you should do with any dog. I adopted a Pomeranian that I found out was dog aggressive, so I had to train her and treat her like any large dog I have owned. All dogs need to be socialized and trained or you will have a problem.

Question I've got a cane Corso he's now 2 and pretty well trained but he started barking being a pain while I'm talking to my daughter I know it's for attention and have tried telling him to be quiet without yelling not working i don't want to give a long with peanut butter but that's telling him it's ok any help on this.

I was just going to say.. about the biting.. one thing I’ve notice is when my pup wants to play he bites and lunges a bit, or if he needs to do his business same thing he will bark at first but it’s tough because I’m still trying to figure out his cues and what the barks mean at different times. Earlier I was grilling and he was like over barking and my neighbor or noticed and I was like yea I think he’s just playful right now, but actually he was hungry and thirsty lol so I let him off his runner to come inside to his bowls. But back to my point with the biting I’m still trying to figure out how to not allow him to do it and how to reprimand as we go.

I don’t know if you have made a video on this. But I would love to see you make a video on spaying/neutering your dog. I’m looking into a Cane Corso for my family and I. And we have always neutered/spayed our dogs, although I’ve always had easier dogs, such as golden doddles and such. So, I don’t know if you have already neutered Dante, but I just think it would be a good RUclips video. I would definitely watch!

Me and my boyfriend just got two very young cane corso puppies and are trying to begin obedience and etiquette training. These tips really helped for me because I always get uncertain about being too hard on the puppies, but when you said you have to train them as if they were adults that hit hard! I really want to make sure we are doing the best for our new pups to make sure they grow, smart and healthy. What would be some best resources outside of RUclips for raising a dog like this breed, from training to feeding and all?
