- Jeremy Lanni, speaking from home in South Natomas on April 25, 2020, had some advice on calling the Employment Development Department. He had to call them after faxing his unemployment claim since he worked in two states.

I've been trying for six months in NM. Yesterday I got put on hold and given the option for them to call me back. I took that option and when they called back they hung up. Trying again now and it's all really taken a huge toll on my nerves.
I filed my claim on March 28th and shows still pending. I tried to called , just between this week and last week I called 631 times with no sucess of reaching anyone. Im asmathic, single mom and got fired from job due to coronavirus. Even emails they are not replying. Do I get angry at the Cust. Serv. Rep? No. But Im angry pf the way the State are handling it. Is very ridiculous that the major number the hours of attendiment is only 4 hours but for the online help is 12 hours. It doesnt make sense.

SLAVE LAW: Employers are allowed to work you 24 hours a day in hopes that you die, so that they don't have to pay you. This is legal according to our government who is here to protect you. EDD has shut their comments section off on all the videos so that you cannot ask them about this SLAVE LAW.
Thank you for sharing! Your video gave me hope! I’m a mother and now homeless. This epidemic tore my life apart and I’m a severe asthmatic. I’ve been approved for weeks! My son and I both were given the maximum amount and each of us gave 4 weeks of certifications but a non monetary issue is posted for each week. I’ve emailed, I’ve called for days on end, I’ve been tried going through a third party assistance with unemployment office but I’m still without any results.
I’m scared! I have children and no one is helping me! Not even our state assistance programs. Tomorrow morning I’m going to try to call again like your video says to do it. Oh you're in Ca, it is a fricken nightmare here in Michigan fixing our claims. I'm owed from March 22nd to June 7th here except 2 weeks.

@@nyimahill100 Ok i'll help you. I fially got help. Ok first leave a voice mail (if ur in Michigan, might work in another state) to the Attorney General's office. Wait a couple days and you'll get a call. ALSO! Call a "Michigan Works!" office. Yes they've been helping people in dire straits getting a hold of them and talking to them. That's what i did! I heard this works now you do this. I think the Novi office or Livonia. Which ever one answers the phone. If one won't do nothing call another one! Trust me. The 0017# is complete scheisse! That's german for shit. Those phone's are turned off i think. So good luck, let me know what happens. I should have my money in 4-5 days he said at UIA. .

OUR SYSTEM DOESNT in (NY LONG ISLAND)GIVE YOU AN OPTION OTHER THEN Hit 1 FOR GENERAL INFO OR 2 TO APPLY FO FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENIFITS SO WHEN I HIT 2 And it takes my SS # and Pin it then says you already have an active account and tells me my status and then hangs up on me!!!!!! I WAS TRYING TO GET TO THE UPDATE CHOOSE???

I was supposed to get 751 each week and for some reason the first check they gave me 175 instead.. I think they switched it up by accident and k can’t keep touch with them
I understand what you are saying. I am an empathetic person and I think most people are. We understand the people who answer the phones are not at fault it is our government and how the EDD has been run. That having been said, why are the hours ONLY from 8 am to 12 pm? Instead of training people (or having a way for us to leave a message to get a call back) the governor opens a new phone line from 8 am to 8 pm with people who CANNOT help us with anything that will make a difference to a lot of us. Yes, we should be understanding to those who answer the phones but we have every right to be upset that everything that can be done is not being done. For example: A news organization spoke to an executive at the EDD, Loree Levy, she was asked about the hours and she stated they needed the late evening hours to push claims through. I don't know about you but 12 pm - 5 pm are not late evening hours to me. It is now July 20th. I have been out of work since mid April and have been paid for TWO WEEKS of unemployment. You mean to tell me, they can't allow people to work over time, they couldn't train people by now? This is crazy. By the way, I started calling in at 7:45 am. The message changed at 7:50 am stating "Due to the number of people already on hold, we are unable to take your call at this time". That message continued until after 8 am. Going through the prompts and getting to the point where you can enter your social etc. still ends with the same message and asking you to call back later. I appreciate your video but something isn't right. I was fortunate enough to have money in my checking and savings when I was let go but so many people do not and with evictions on the way, so many will be out on the street. This isn't okay.
