    This video was pretty funny to watch, both players play out a very complicated opening with lots of thinking and its mesmerizing to watch Magnus build an attack over a period of 20 or so moves that gives him a massive advantage... and then Gareyev just blunders his bishop

    At 2:58 white pawn moved to f4 and was taken down by black pawn from g4 to f3 , is that some kind of rule, how did g4 took the f4 pawn

      lol. I thought the same. Here i am watching Carlsen play chess and i didn't even know the en passant rule. Also, how come the pawns were moving 2 squares on some moves in one go? I thought they only moved 1.

      in even low level chess (900-1300), being down a piece is a near guaranteed loss unless you get lucky. So when we start talking about top level chess, where people arent stupid and also dislike playing out another half an hour of chess when there is no chance of winning, people instead just immediately resign.

      @@mikhailaaz5807 he played too fast, he didnt notice that a very basic trade lost him a bishop. This was a very simple mistake and something that you shouldnt expect to happen a second time a game from your oppenent. Besides, even if magnus blundered a piece, the position was so dead that it wouldnt have even mattered

      They are resigning because they believe they will lose. Or they can agree to a draw.

      Don't feel petty. I played it out just to see why. Black's queen was pinned, and the rook wasn't able to assist. In a couple of moves white had a checkmate, more or less. Carlsen is a LOT smarter than I am. Play on.
