How many of you also have the goal to be able to speak or write Korean?
But it's kind of hard when you're not around any koreans to correct you or you to consistently speak korean I'm always around people who speak english so its difficult but I'm willing to pursue it
Tina Lee Same here🙋🏻♀️, I’m an English learner but situations are exactly the same as you.😂
My goal : watch k-drama without subtitle
@@christinalee3047 There is an app for language learners called HelloTalk; we can speak with native speakers of our target language(s), that can be very useful to practice
@@christinalee3047 Hyunwoo also made a video a few years back, telling a way to practice even if you don't have anyone to practice with is to write down in a journal about anything, but daily. And I like this method :) (I'm also using the app Tandem, basically giving you penpals)
"Oh.. They're speaking in the past tense"
is exactly where I'm at
They speaks like Yoda in Starwars.
That part got me laughing >,
me watching dramas: "oh, they're speaking formally here, wow I'm so cultured, such knowledge" 😂
It's so accurate to how learning a language is though lolol
Me too 😂
This is the thing I was most worried about when I started learning Korean but it’s quite easy to get your head around
You get the hang of grammar but everything else is hard
@@jameslee9639 practice makes perfect!
It's faaar from being easy for westerners but I'd say it's not impossible hehe
Hangul is easy but the grammar is hard for me 😅

5:10 this is literally me when I can catch something in korean but do not understand the rest lol
저도 ㅎㅎㅎ
Honestly same 😂
나도 ㅋㅋㅋ
The skit at 5:02 was hilarious lol
This was so informative and engaging, like all your videos. Thank you for all your work, TTMK!
Thanks so much!
Are we learning Korean or Birdie? 😁
I really laughed out loud at that
I laughed so hard 😭
I wish language learning skits were like this when I was in school 😂
me: a native italian speaker
this channel: english
me learning english and korean at the same time:
;> chef kiss
Sto imparando italiano! Anche coreano ovviamente 😅
Bravo ;3
Hello from Bangladesh 🤝
Me too lol, so how have been your study ?
Same but I'm Polish..and my English is not that bad😅
This 5 mins helped more than the hours of self-study.
I like the example of ‘I am an alien 👽’ It makes learning Korean more fun as the example is unusual!!👍 A lot of my foreign friends also ask me about the word order too! I think this video will help them a lot!
ддщ
to the one person who disliked this video: 바보
I feel like I have C1 in Korean after understanding one single word in context
Lmaooooooo
i feel smart for being to read this HAHAHA
Amy Groce ㅋㅋㅋ
ㅋㅋㅋ멍청이!
No one:
literally no one:
"I am ailen"
spit water all over my laptop
🤣
I alien is.
In US English, Alien means foreigner
@@timngim583 oh gosh, really??
@@timngim583 Really??
My sympathies to the poor soul who got shrek-ified for the video lol.
Thank you this is very clear and detailed.
I’m fascinated by your decision to put sentence order and particles at the beginning of the learning process. I think it’s a great idea and I’m curious to see how this works out.
When I first watched Korean dramas, it was the -니까, 는데, and 고요 conjugations I noticed the most.... and actually most stuff is in 반말, not 존댓말. Obviously, we learn some polite/formal stuff like stuff like 안녕하세요, 감사합니다 but we also learn just 미안해, 고마워, 죽을래!?
How are you answering this when I can see nearly everyone live on camera right now? Isn’t Cassie with family and 선진 쌤 카메라를 operating?
The sentence order is easy for me to understand because my native language(hindi) has the same sentence order
Yep , same Indian army (learning for BTS)
My native language is also hindi.
Same 💜
Indian army
Indian armies are literally everywhere ✌️😎😂
From watching Kdramas and shows combined with linguistics background, I picked up some words and structures and found Korean very interesting. Now the hardest part is to start remembering the letters as some look so much alike. Great video👍
This would have been the most perfect video for me like 3 months ago when I was desperately trying to understand Korea sentences but no one explained it well. I thank God everyday for ttmik 😂
We love all the TTMIK team❤️ thank you
Started watching Korean shows and now am interested in learning the language.
Same! I got frustrated that I couldn't recognize a certain language pattern while watching Extraordinary Attorney Woo (I didn't know that there were formal and non-formal speech patterns at the time), so I started learning, and now I'm planning to go to Korea and study intensively haha. That moment when you realize a kdrama literally changed your life
감사합니다!! I’m still on level 1 but I’m learning so much!
Me too. Just started a month ago and I’m having a blast learning from 현우씨 and 경은씨
It's a little bit easy for me to understand the sturcture of korean sentences
because it is very similar to hindi, and I live in india.
wait, this guy has NEVER lived in an english speaking country??? WOW!😲 his english is PERFECT!! amazing and inspiring 🤯 👏
Annyeong I’m living in France... I’m studying Korean since 1 month. This video is very useful because I study on my own
Good for you as you already speak French. I’m learning French and Korean.
This is a very effective way for absolute beginners to learn basic Korean sentence structures.😊
5:09 I swear Seokjin is the funniest character
Had a little "a-ha" moment when you explained that the object marking particle shows what the object of the following verb will be. 드디어! I've been confused with topic vs. object for a while. 감사힙니다!
Could you explain this to me?
@@annabelle466 same lmao
@@annabelle466 I'll give it a shot but I’m not very good at explaining (and I might be wrong!) 😝
If we see an object marking particle (을/를) after a noun, that means the following verb is about that noun, and not about other nouns in the sentence. Basically *this* action is about *this* thing. Hopefully that makes sense (and is correct).
I still need an ‘a-ha’ moment about topic vs subject though! I’m sure it’s somewhere in TTMIK :)
this is really helpful! i am self-studying the Korean grammar and i was kind of confused when i was reading my book but with your explanation i finally understood it.
This is actually one of the best videos Ive seen about korean sentences
Even though I am not a beginner I just love to watch your videos Cause all of your videos are so great😍
okay so WHY ARE THE SKITS SO CUTE AND FUNNY? like ttmik's skits are getting better and better everytime
I’m on level 3 so far and TTMIK is such a useful learning tool if you want to learn Korean! It’s so much fun listening to Hyunwoo ssi and Kyeong-un ssi. Thank you TTMIK 선생님’s for keeping me company for the past few months 💜
The examples are great, the art and the way that people from ttmik explains every lesson makes the lesson not sleepy, great job teaching 선생님들!
I really wish I could study better... It is my goal to study Korean. But I am 16 and work 5 days a week with not much time to study. I really wish I could afford the text books and work books TTMIK provides. Thank you for posting short and helpful videos.
I study korean language by myself everyday. Your videos help me a lot. My goal is speaking korean advanced. I have 3 years studying😃😀 korean. Greetings.
i've been studying for about 6 months, but this is something i've been struggling with still, so i'm grateful for this video! sometimes it's easier to see it laid out and have it explained rather than simply reading it. thank you ttmik!
This is so helpful. Thank you.
This is definitely the BEST channel for learning Korean! Thank you!!
I love how you explained this.
Examples that you gives are amazing 💜. We can easily learn by it . Thank you so much 💜
I recently started my Common Mistakes Korean Learners Make as I just got it, and the first lesson is also about Korean word order so this is great & the timing is perfect! 😊
Thanks for making this video. Needed this so much.
I have been looking for videos on how to structure sentences and you just uploaded this!! 감사합니다 😊
선생님 잘 가르쳐 주셔서 감사합니다💜
Thank you so much for working so hard for us. 💜
perrrrfect timing, i jsut got into making my first sentences today and now i see this video, thank you for all your free courses and videos!
감사합니다 !! You’ve made learning korean so much easier xx
I not sure if I’m the only one who feels like this but to me pronunciation is very important...
he’s not trying to say that pronunciation isn’t important, he’s saying it’s not the point of the video. the point of the video is for people with zero korean experience to get a grasp on the basic structure of korean
😂 why the heck would you be unsure about something like that. What the heck. Pronunciation is important.
But this video is not about pronunciations. It's about Korean sentence structures. Pronunciations are in other videos.
Jhu0ii Mar!3 why are you feeling so offended about this???😂😂😂😂
jace t and im not saying that. I’m simply saying that to me knowing how to pronounce the words is important, I know zero Korean. To me pronunciation/ writing is equally important. Everyone has their own way of learning. That’s how I learned my English.....
감사합니다 TTMIK
I'm so glad a channel like TTMIK exists this video helped me a lot and your English is perfect! I admire your dedication and I enjoy listening to your podcasts before I go to sleep. ☺️
oooooooo i needed this so bad!!!!!! thank you SO MUCH
Great video! Helped a lot. The "oh, they're talking in the past tense" killed me, lol.
I love this!! When I watch Korean Dramas/Movies I like having the Korean subtitles because it helps reading the sentence structure 🙏🏽❤️🙂
Would you mind telling me where do you find dramas/movies with korean subtitles?
Rita Arya Sorry for taking long in my reply 🙏🏽🙂 I watch on Viki, Prime Video or Netflix. Viki is the only one (for me) that has Korean subtitles
this is exactly what i need, tysm!! TTMIK 최고!! 💗
Omg! All the examples are so fun!!!
After finishing learning hangul recently, this has been on my mind for a few days! Thank you!!
Wow,,, Congrats. Am just starting to see Hangul... I will learn soon.
Ughh...congratts...there are lots of videos in this channel...i dont understand where to start from....can anyone give me any clue???
lmao i love the guy that was like oh they are speaking in past tense" that is me while watching kdrama after this video
Love your work!!!
i'm glad to found this channel
..who likes house chores ☠️ but great vid, this is what I was most worried about, because English is not sov
My goal : watch kdrama without subtitle and listening to kpop song without looking for translation to understand.
me too!
Exactly why I'm here 😂
Just started two days ago so very thankful for this video!
I love learning new languages but English is the only one that I can speak comfortably I give up so easily after learning for a while. I start to get bored of the language especially when I go deeper into grammar however I am determined about korean I dont want to give up on it!
You can also write it like this, right?
저는 매일 한국어를 공부해요
Yes. That sentence is also correct which means “I study Korean everyday”.
You have like 3-4 words for the word “and” can you please how and when to use which one?

Your English is amazingly natural for never having lived in an English speaking country. And the video is presented very clearly, thanks!
Having learned the alphabet and a handful of vocabulary words, this comes right at the perfect time. I love TTMIK!
You are very good. The teaching method is very good, easy to understand but as you mentioned, it takes a lot of practice. Congratulations!!!
I really appreciate the way your videos are made recently. I have been following TTMIK since 2009. Though I really started a truly systematic study a couple of years ago TTMIK is all I ever had. I really "get it" now with the way you make your videos and the catchy songs that go along with the breakdown of Korean sentence structure. I am thoroughly benefitting from the way TTMIK teaches these days. Keep up the good work because it certainly is working.
I'm closer to fluency when watching your videos. Thank you for making them! ❤️
I love his accent . He is just amazing
Always great explanations, thank you!
Thank you for making it so easy to understand!
Probably the most productive video i have watched during lockdown :___|
Please do upload this kind of lessons for the beginner.
Thank you for all the classes we follow and seriously it has helped me a lot 😚😚😚
thank you for this! i had gotten pretty good at reading hangul, so now i can move on to forming sentences and learning what words mean
Thank you so much
Thank you so much ! Those are the best videos to start learning korean ! I really enjoy watching these videos
This was a great video and you explained the sentence structure so much better than anyone else I have found. I really like the letters to show it. Please more of this.
Also your English is so good I would have never thought you haven't lived in a English speaking country.
You guys literally have the best explanations thank you so much!! 💕
You guys really help a lot
Thank you! you make learning korean really fun.
This video is PERFECT for explaining the basic sentence structure. Simple & easy to understand by explaining what everything represents and even translating it literally in English so we can see where the differences are. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much TTMIK team...
정말 고맙습니다 :)
Great explanation as always! I'm studying slowly & am still new at this, so this was a good review! 감사합니다!!
I wished I found this first. I struggled with korean grammar and this makes everything so simple...
This thing helps me more to continue learning about the language. God bless you Sir.
I know this video is 3 years old but I'm just seeing it now. Hearing you say you've never lived in an English speaking country is incredible.
You sound like you could've gone to high school with me or been my next door neighbor in the US. I'm not kidding you sound like an absolute native. Very impressive. I'm sure you hear this all the time but I'm pretty shook lol. Nice job on your English.
right?? Was thinking the exact same, his pronunciation is bedazzling good
I just wanna say that you saved my life as a absolute beginner korean student, thank you I love u 🤷🥰
Wooow! This is something very new because many say learning Korean language is difficult however now after watching your video its more clear. Thank you 😊
Great explanation. Thank you
i already understand the topic that's covered in this video, but after finishing it i somehow feel like i just gained another level of understanding. that's a really really good explanation.
