      Hi! I buy my plants at a local fish store that doesn't ship them sadly. If you're from America I'd check out the site of @Aquariumcoop and see if they have some in stock.

    Hi, I am a beginner and I have a 55 litre tank with 2 mollies and 2 platies. I have no live plants as the pet store never mentioned this. Everywhere I look, the info is different so plz help me. Do I need to get more fish? And i get a bunch of green spot algae and brown algae(I scrub this off every week) and I do a water change every 2 weeks. I clean the filter every 2 months. Is this enough cleaning? Also I'm not sure whether I need live plants. Pls give me advice; how can I help my fish be happier and live in a better environment. I have gravel substrate and this has brown algae all over how do I clean it? And the algae is spreading EVERYWHERE even though I clean it often. Please help me.... I use a gravel siphon to clean the gravel when I do water changes. I've heard that plants help keep away algae, is this true? Would it be ideal for me to get plants, and what plants? I've been looking for help for a week or so but the fish store isn't open due to Corona so I had to come to the internet where every website said something different 😢😢PLEASE REPLY AND HELP IM SO DISTRESSED AND WORRIED IM NOT CARING FOR MY BABIES PROPERLY😭

      Hey there Monita, don't worry, it's amazing to see that you're trying to find the best info for your fish. Let me help you.
      If you've just set up your aquarium than the algae is normal. You're doing a good job at cleaning it. I would recommend doing weekly water changes instead of every two weeks to remove more nutrients (the access nutrients cause the algae). Your filter every two months is fine, you could also do that monthly. Make sure you do not completely and thoroughly rinse it under a tap, instead get a bucket of aquarium water and squeeze out most of the gunk.
      Live plants would be great for your tank because they actually do clean the water! They help remove some of the nutrients that are now being consumed by algae. I would recommend simple plants like the Java Fern from this video of something like Brazilian Water Weeds (give it a quick google search). You don't have to bury both plants in the substrate, you can just leave them floating.
      There is no need to get more fish, if you want more fish you can buy additional mollies and platies to make sure you've got 1 male and 2 or 3 females.
      If you've got more questions or need some more info, just rely to this comment or any of my other videos!
      Cheers,
      Bart

      @@AquariumGenius thanks so much this was super helpful! So this morning, I was vacuuming the gravel, and I found some blue green algae on some gravel, and I've heard that this is harmful but I'm not sure. How do I remove it. Also there is some broen algae which is squashed between the gravel and the walls of the tank, is it all right to remove the fish and out them into a large bucket while I clean this out, because I'm worried to hurt them?

      Hey! Glad to help. The blue green stuff is pretty gnarly to get rid of but not necessarily harmful to your fish. Just remove it when you see it. For the brown algae, I would let it be where you can't reach it. It's never a good idea to fully empty your tank and remove all its content. It really stresses the fish out. Remember that brown algae is not harmful to your fish, just a sore to the eye.
      Cheers!

    Hi, you mentioned that you can stick the new little plants to a piece of wood. How does this work? Do they stick by themselves or do you use some kind of under water glue?

    • @AquariumGenius
      @AquariumGenius  4 года назад +2

      Hey! That's a good question, you can use fishing line to fixate them, but the cheap superglue also works!. It's actually aquairum safe so no need to buy expensive "aquarium proof" glue.
