@@Tacoman687 The Sound of Silence, Disturbed cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s original and Adam Lambert’s cover of Cash’s Ring of Fire. It’s a really different take on the song and I love it.
Marco has been singing since the early 80's. He formed Tarot with his brother in 1982 under the title Purgatory, but changed the name around -84. Marco (Marko Hietala) also released his first solo album "Pyre Of The Black Heart" about two yrs ago. It's released in Finnish and in English. He's also been featuring in numerous bands and projects. One of them is Northern Kings
This song is about losing your chilldhood joys as one grows up. The adulthood is burdened by all sorts of aspirations and so the dreams of the childhood are taken away. The dreams of the band for having a good time were taken away as they had so much issues with Tarja (and her husband/manager) that they no longer couldn't work with her (they blamed her husband for it also). I think that Marko put all their frustrations into this song. The boys did fire Tarja after this concert (2005).
I love it when bands have the balls to cover Pink Floyd. Especially when they do it on the heavy side! Voivod, the Canadian prog metal dudes cover Astronomy Domine and even cover the heaviest song Pink Floyd ever did, The Nile Song! Marko did a hell of a job on heavy vocals and the band take this cover into the stratosphere. Sorry folks. No Floorgasm tonight.
Only found Nightwish three years ago with Wacken 2013. Have since tried to listen to both previous singers but not for me although both have their merits. Tarja was there for five albums. Anette for two. And hopefully there will soon be a third featuring Floor who joined seven years after this concert.
This was in 2005 while there 1st singer Tarja was changing Floor joined Nightwish in 2012 . This is a Pink Floyd song its a tribute song to Pink Floyd . you should listen to the orignial and see for your self how much heavier the Nightwish version is
Good morning, you really should/must discover the original written and performed by David Gilmoure. NIGHTWISHs version is no cover, but a tribute to Pink Floyd. This version isn't much more heavy than the original, but a diffrent Interpretation. Gilmoure wrote the song as a review on his youth, comparing it to the dull, hopeless state of mind in modern days. It's a very melancholic sight. Tuomas version and Markos performence seems to be a more accusing and bitter view to that topic - selfreflective -, in my opinion. 🤔😊 Good night from Germany🤗 and parkinson's sucks ⚘and EMPPU RULES 😎🤘alex
@@alexandrabarrenbrugge4585 Guten Morgen, Alexandra! Given that they were about to hand out the open letter to Tarja and dismiss her from the band the accusation and bitterness you describe, can be interpreted as a form of disappointment. They might have had 'High Hopes' for the band's future, but with the split up from their lead singer everything changes and seems way more uncertain up to the point that this might become Nightwish's end. The latter is also expressed in the song 'Poet and the Pendulum'. So 'High Hopes' was an interesting choice for the setlist, yet an amazing tribute to Pink Floyd.
@@matzek.3220 Guten Morgen Matze 🍵, i concur. I know the letters very well. I am a "bit" older and still have their ( no Marko at time!) on cassettes 🤤😉! I wanted ro point out the general differences of mood that underlie both versions [anger(tarja) vs. feeling blue] especially to the ones, who never experianced the original or Pink Floyd. I think, the basic emotional expression reminds the same. Puh, sometimes NIGHTWISH on RUclips is like GOETHE in school, isn't it. This is not a cover! This is a tribute to Pink Floyd. Jukka (drummer) had a killer migrane during the whole consert. One can only wonder how he managed to give his best to serve the band.
Tuomas tried singing in the very early days, but he realized that his vocals simply weren't up to Nightwish standards. Especially when you have Marko and now Floor in your team.
You know it's funny that you mention that because I've been watching so many of Tommy Johansson's songs recently he is one of the guitarists of sabaton and that dude has a sick voice and a crazy vocal range and I mean don't get me wrong I love joakim but it's amazing they have two great singers in that band also and Tommy doesn't sing at all unless it's back up.......... You just made me think of that that's all
Did you announce you only take reaction suggestions from people who pay you? Or did I misunderstand? Bc if that's how you run your channel, why would anyone want to watch or comment? Don't upload to the public, just patreon, if that's the case. Not trying to be bitchy, just want to know where to spend time...
There's nothing unusual about using Patreon to organize the supporter's requests. Many, many reactors use Patreon. Sight After Dark state this at the beginning of most every video, and it's in their channel text: "Subscribe to get involved in our content decisions!"

David Gilmore himself said at the time that this was the best Pink Floyd cover ever made.
And it still is today
IMHO it’s better than the original. I’ve only said that about two other songs.
I totally agree and am curious, what were the other 2 songs?@@Debbie338

Marko has a band called Tarot, they are amazing
It's quite impressive how they make a Pink Floyd track like High Hopes their own. In my eyes, it is so good that it is even better than the original 🙂
We can’t wait to hear the original!

And by the way even if floor was in the band at this time it would not have been the same if she had sang it sorry this rendition was made for Marco
