Yeah I just finished my 30 day trial of FSD and while it is decent, it still struggles a LOT. So much in fact that I can never truly relax. The other day it stopped right in the middle of a turn and just sat there so I took over because If i hadn't, accident waiting to happen. It needs a LOT more work and it is NOT Self-driving in the truest sense of the word. It struggles on highways as well, failing to drive naturally and follow cars at normal distances. Is it worth 8K? No. Is it worth 99 for the month if you're doing a road trip? Hell YES.
Totally agree. My car tried to stop on the freeway because it didn’t understand how the exit worked and missed the exit but was still navigated to take the exit. Had to take over real quick! 😅

Driving from CA to MO with FSD was very relaxing. We would never consider road trips this long without it. Also, being able to take in the view during the drive is a huge plus.
Prepare to be unimpressed by FSD. It isn’t as good with the newer hardware yet, but the Y is an amazing car. Their prices are crazy cheap when you fully understand what all you get. The car app is worth the FSD price alone.

I commute 40 miles per day with my Model 3 just like this through 2 busy towns with traffic circles, hands resting in my lap. Cracks me up when people think their car with "lane assist" is doing the same thing. "Well my (insert other brand name here) can do that." No, no it can't.

What's the point if you still have to intervene so much? It ended up just being so annoying that I didn't buy it. The annoying sounds and beeps it makes drive me nuts. I think once they get rid of that I'll buy it.
I think that the best part about Teslas is that they use clean energy. This will enable the air of the planet to get cleaner. Self driving might be useful if can get the accidents to get lower or inexistent.

It's really quite amazing. I use it most of the time. I still have to watch out for a few things it doesn't handle and a few intersections it has trouble with, so it certainly does require supervision.
I used it quite a bit during the month free trial and It was absolutely amazing what it can do but I had to disengage it at least every 5 minutes because it would drive 10 mi/hr faster than it should in a small residential area or it would want to hit a curb on a roundabout. It was really amazing what it could do around pedestrians; being slow and safe and left turns were also incredible, but there's just so many little things that make it seem like it's not ready yet.

Then when it fails (which it will as no amount of AI can cover any situation) you get caught completely off guard and here comes trouble then as you have about 0 situational awareness = The day 1:100.000 gets you.
Imagine a reverse smart summon. Tell the vehicle to go park, OR keep circling until you're ready if in an area with a lot of parking restrictions / paid parking. Then having smart summon distance increased to pick you up when desired. "Smart Valet"
This is already available today via Actually Smart Summon (ASS). Your Tesla can drop you off at the sidewalk, go find a spot, and park. Then come pick you back up at the sidewalk when you return. Check out videos on RUclips.

I do like it for long farm country drives, but for some reason, while approaching a stop sign at 90kph - it waits and applies quite a bit of brake pedal (not just regen) rather than regen to a nice smooth stop. its like it can't see it far enough, yet the stop sign is on the map...

If you want an example, look at streetview at: 89184 County Rd 30, Gorrie, Ontario. They frequently put little rumble strips before the stop sign to wake people up to the fact that they need to stop before they blow through a 2 or 4 way stop at 100kph.
As someone who has difficulty concentrating on the road, I hope Tesla continues to improve to help people like me because having an ebike is good all but not when the road gets icy.

Thanks Tesla for the 1 month free trial of FSD supervised on my Model X and Model Y. It blew my mind! So fun to see how far it has come since 2018 when our Model X couldn't even lane keep without "ping-ponging" the lane lines. First impressions on our first few drives with FSD Supervised was like WOW this is 99% there! It's going to be a "march of 9's" for Tesla now. After about 10 drives in increasing tough conditions though my assessment dropped to eh, maybe more like 85-90% there which is still massively impressive. Congrats to the AI team. I'm now a believer that some day soon Tesla's FSD will be safer than humans.
At least once it does release in your area it will be a capable software. It has been a bumpy ride to get to this point and it is still not quite there
I love FSD on my 2020 Model X but you’ve got to fix the acceleration and braking. The car accelerates too fast and has a habit of braking late and hard.
Elon can only say if tesla will be ready for fsd in europe, but can't say when and if fsd will come in europe because is the european law that have to say that
Is roundabouts finally working? Ill have to test this out. Other than that it does do all this very well. Been a fun experience to see this go from stopping at yellow flashing lights to pulling off the turnpike to go to a restaurant without intervention
The problem with Waymo is more expensive hardware and it's limited to pre-mapped spaces and can't handle changes very well. I haven't followed their progress for a while so I might be wrong, but I think Tesla is way ahead..

Much countries have a lot bad traffic and excidents on roads. More then other countries. If take to attention this, it could be beneficial to make more attention on those countries. Including cyber crimes, and possibilities for self driving cars
Took a demo driver yesterday in a model Y. FSD was nothing short of incredible. You're right, if you haven't experienced it you can't even imagine how good it is. By the time I'm ready for a new car (lease up in two years) FSD will be the top priority, no question.
What this doesn’t show is that you still have to have your hands on the wheel and if you take your eyes off the road (camera tracking you) then it suddenly turns off and gives you a strike. 3 strikes and it bans you from using it.
For me it was actually pretty awful. I used it quite a bit and I would have to disengage it about every 5 minutes. It was trying to go on curbs and going way too fast in residential areas. I really hope it gets better but it convinced me that it was not ready yet.

I’ve had errors and headaches but have much more successes then anything. I use fsd for everything and it’s at a 85% success for me in CA.
Every car brand has self driving for road trips now. Teslas FSD is just a gimmick and headache in areas u truly don't need to use it.

One day it will come to Australia. It has been a long wait for us outside of NA. I bought FSD over 3 years ago now...
Same for me in Europe. Bought FSD 3 years ago, nothing happened since then here.
At least once it does release in your area it will be a capable software. It has been a bumpy ride to get to this point and it is still not quite there
Can I test drive if I won’t buy it?
Its getting better every day, but not navigating the construction zones correctly, mostly cones. Last week it almost jump off the cliff.

I've had it for a while now.
It's been released for 2 weeks and it's not as good as HW4 so I think they're still tweaking it to not get bad press.
I love FSD on my 2020 Model X but you’ve got to fix the acceleration and braking. The car accelerates too fast and has a habit of braking late and hard.
What version are you running?
I am a Tesla driver in Germany and hope that FSD will soon be available in Germany.
It will come in Q1 2025 said Elon today.

Is roundabouts finally working? Ill have to test this out. Other than that it does do all this very well. Been a fun experience to see this go from stopping at yellow flashing lights to pulling off the turnpike to go to a restaurant without intervention

I’ve been on waymo a few times now. You guys are lagging and I want you to win this race.
The problem with Waymo is more expensive hardware and it's limited to pre-mapped spaces and can't handle changes very well. I haven't followed their progress for a while so I might be wrong, but I think Tesla is way ahead..

Waymo is limited to only within a few cities geo- fenced areas and requires $200K of hardware. FSD is anywhere and available even on $25K cars

Took a demo driver yesterday in a model Y. FSD was nothing short of incredible. You're right, if you haven't experienced it you can't even imagine how good it is. By the time I'm ready for a new car (lease up in two years) FSD will be the top priority, no question.

What this doesn’t show is that you still have to have your hands on the wheel and if you take your eyes off the road (camera tracking you) then it suddenly turns off and gives you a strike. 3 strikes and it bans you from using it.

I'm still blown away of what the earlier version could do a couple months ago during the FSD trial.
For me it was actually pretty awful. I used it quite a bit and I would have to disengage it about every 5 minutes. It was trying to go on curbs and going way too fast in residential areas. I really hope it gets better but it convinced me that it was not ready yet.
