The prime minister of Luxembourg has become the first serving leader in the European Union to marry someone of the same sex.
Xavier Bettel tied the knot with his Belgian partner, architect Gauthier Destenay.
A law allowing gay marriage came into force in Luxembourg in January.

Proud to be Belgian! Belgium legalised gay marriage already 15(!) years ago and is still one of the best countries for gays to live in. Our Prime Minister was the only PM to attend this wedding, and our previous PM was openly gay aswel - and it didn't cause 1 single problem among the public. Glad our Luxembourg neighbours followed :-)

Luxembourg, Belgium & the Netherlands are very cool countries which I'd absolutely love to live in. Europeans seem incredibly liberal on L.B.G.T.Q. rights, even the Muslims in Europe are too, though not as much. This is very impressive for Luxembourg & the European Union as a whole. Countries such as Greece & Portugal are completely fucked up EU countries. The other P.I.I.G.S (Spain, Italy & Ireland) are very descent compared to Greece & Portugal, despite their economic woes which are nowhere near as extreme as Greece & Portugal's economic woes; which were mainly caused by the P.I.I.G.S, especially Greece lying to the EU about their debts & inflation rate so they could join the EuroZone; the Greek gov't workers committed tax evasion with the help of Goldman Sachs & hid that money overseas, so they could steal from the Greek people & get away with it, because they were paid off by the bankers. Overall, the economy in the EU is starting to improve gradually & is slowly speeding up & much of the public anger from the European public from even one year ago is starting to calm down & most, if not all of the anti EU & anti immigrant parties are starting to lose support & power. The EU seems to be in the same phase as America was during the 1930s & will most likely grow into the world's strongest & most prosperous economy. Not only that, the European Union's middle class will start growing @ a very fast rate & more & more people, including Americans will emigrate to the EU for this economic success.
Overall, despite the recent debt crisis in the EU, the EU seems to be a far better place to reside than the US if you want to have enjoy basic marketplace rules which help protect customers, consumers, workers, middle class folks, lower class folks, the environment, the public & so on from actions such as militarized police, misleading & deceptive advertisement, being fucked over, starvation, pollution, inhumane working conditions, worker mistreatment & overworking. Even Switzerland, Norway & Iceland have to adopt most EU rules & pay the EU about the same amount of money every year as EU member states, to keep the EU & EC running as they have adopted several EU treaties, they're Western Europe & they do most of their trade with the EU, but have no say in these rules, simply because they're not EU members. Meaning that Switzerland, Norway & Iceland are part of the EU & EC to some extent as well, but are not recognized on paper as being EU member states & don't get the say in how the EU runs.
