Little did Steve Albini know that “vegan necromancy” is the most Tumblr pair of words ever spoken.

He's not for everybody, but he's a genuinely good guy. He charged very little to produce albums in the 90s.

Interesting. The Smashing Pumpkins came out of the late 80's Chicago music scene from the Wrigleyville area I believe. Billy Corgan's temple is the Cabaret Metro. There is a lot of testimony to how hard that band worked to get noticed in the pre-internet days.

I spent my entire 20s in Chicago’s music scene. Was not a fun scene after awhile. It was super fun between 2002 and 2006. It became something very artificial, competitive, and lame after 2006.

Theres been a vibrant "punk/music/crossover/art" scene in Chicago this entire time, never seen Steve around.

i dont know man, Big Black, Shellac and Rapeman are all fucking amazing! I can understand liking Big Black more than Shellac or Rapeman or whatever.....but i just dig everything i've ever heard that has been associated with the man (engineer, session player, mike tech, etc). His music never fails to hit me in the nuts. period. Steve Albini (musically i should say) has never let me down.
Albini is a good guy in an ocean of douche-bag slime-balls, honestly.....

I like Albimi. I think he's great for music. For the guy who mentioned Billy Corgan he did not earn his respect he got. His first show was opening for Jane's Addiction. A high profile gig. They didn't even have a name yet when they opened for JA

I use my girlfriends computer, and myspace address to make statements like this one and on occasion surf,or stroll,or whatever it is you people do.I admit almost all of my intrerests are represented.I used to think I had a few unique ones, but not anymore.I agree with everything he says.Me writing this brings arts demise that much closer.I am not getting on this thing again. Is that a bit extreme?maybe.I have always hated computers.Even now it mocks my lack of punctuation, and poor spelling.

He doesn't know about contemporary Chicago music culture anymore because he is older and famous. Not that he is completely wrong but I don't think he is as "in tune" as new used to be.
