    You're a skiller UIM of course you dont like leagues. I personally have never had more fun playing runescape. My main account is a near-maxed iron. I've run out of content to do on the iron that feels enjoyable. Leagues has been the best time ever for me personally.
    I don't understand the argument about how additional relic tiers is a problem. The thrill of this game is the progression. I was disappointed when I ran out of new, exciting relics to grind for that would improve my character, xp multiplier, drop rate multiplier, etc.

      I was thinking the same thing, was he trying to be a lvl 3 uim in leagues? Like what, think playing a lvl 3 uim has made him lose touch with the game and how it's actually supposed to be played

    As a new player leagues is a huge learning opportunity, however I can see why veteran players don't feel exactly the same as me. Great video!

    I work full time and still found a way to unlock all the relics after the first week. To put it bluntly, most of these changes sound terrible. I think the leagues format might just not be for you. Even dragon tier is very reasonable this time around.

    I've personally really enjoyed leagues though I do agree with the FOMO aspect you brought up. Another thing I've seen brought up by others is that people are going to be burnt out from the main game when they return. I can see why that would be the case for sure, our CC always dies out abit after leagues or DMM. But I've learnt a lot from this league and I think I'll be coming back to the main game even more motivated now.

    Completely lost me at the Reddit-type comment "with somebody who only has X hours a week to play, they're never gonna get to where they want to, especially if they just wanna have fun". Extremely subjective. I know people who can play even less and are having a blast. Cherry on top is saying Leagues is boring but Fishing UIM content in the background. Golden.

    i was really enjoying leagues up until I hit tier 8, and finished my build. I have no life so it was no problem for me but I really feel bored now because I want to try out a new funny build like the door or dharoks axe shenanigans. The area lock is fun but I really wish once you hit tier 8 you could respect your relics and areas and do the thing over again, just this time without all the grinding so you can just enjoy the overpoweredness. making a new account for it sounded fun but It was so boring i just couldn't finish tbh

  • @Mistffs
    @Mistffs 8 месяцев назад +1

    Idk what you're on about. There are so many points from every activity, that even if you don't wanna do most of the content and play only a small amount you'll easily reach t8 and do whatever activity you want to. People act like you need to get max gear and 56k points before you can do anything "fun" or trying different content. The relics already make you so overpowered that you don't need to stupid grinds before doing another grind. You don't need to do any grinds if you don't want to. You don't need to pick regions just to have the possibility of max gear, you can just pick regions with content you're interested in. You don't need to race anyone for points or xp if you don't want to.
    You don't need to make the league a chore for yourself that you have to do for some arbitrary reason. You can just login, see how long you'll have fun and then logout. Do not play leagues to do 200 wintertodt or 200 tempoross if you don't want to. That's stupid.
    And yes, of course they are releasing it over the holidays when statistically the most people are able to play. And yes, of course youtubers make videos about the leagues since that is literally the most interesting thing that happens in this game for a long period of time.

    What you're talking about with "unhealthy gameplay" is really important, and I wish more people talked about this. Jagex shouldn't be creating gameplay that promote grinding 80hrs a week to have fun/do well.

  • @135791max

    Your argument of "in a time limited gamemode, someone with only 2-3 hours a day to play, they are never going to get to a point where they get to have fun" seems kind of personally biased probably as someone who has just been playing the game for a very long time. People with limited time to play the game on a regular basis will still get to experience much more of the game and content than you do even on a main account. I picked osrs up like a year and a half ago, and have over 1000 hours played, which comes out to about 2 hours daily, and i have still experienced very little of the late game content, due to the level, gear, and knowledge requirements to experience these things. Meanwhile, after a few weeks in leagues, i have been able to learn Expert ToAs, understand the mechanics of and complete CoX, learn DT2 bosses, and experience other content that takes an almost unreasonable amount of time to get to in main game, and its been extremely rewarding feeling learning all this new content, even if it is much easier with the tools provided by leagues. Trying to argue that the main game lets you get to new content in reasonable quantities of time is kind of a stretch, and something you may not properly relate to if you have been playing since leagues 1. The tasks laid out by the game because they take you around the world, and have you do stuff you often times wouldnt do, and you get to look at the tasks and make a plan for yourself that can be completed in the shortest time for yourself. The tier 8 relic can be easily reached without completing a single one of the super long and grindy tasks like 200 tempoross, 200 wintertodt, 250 ToA's, etc. those tasks are for the absolute maniacs who want to go for the top of the leaderboards and are approaching 100k points. obtaining all relics is extremely achievable for almost everyone even with a casual playtime investment.

    I am struggling with a few of your points because you mentioned that you enjoyed Twisted League, but that league took place at the same time of the year as this one. Also, Twisted League locked everyone to only 1 spot on the map, rather than giving options to unlocked multiple areas. I picked Zeah this league and I still get access to 4 other places. I also don't think this league is much more of a grind than the original Trailblazer League. I think with the plethora of content available to players, you don't get stuck doing a lot of things you don't like in order to get higher relic tiers. That is, unless you really don't enjoy much of the content that the game has to offer. There are people that have currently acquired over 70,000 league points. I know this is people doing most of the tasks available, but you only need 24,000 points to get tier 8, which is almost 1/3rd of what has been acquired. Also, T8 isn't even that necessary to enjoy the game. Yeah it boosts combat performance but you only get a 5x drop rate multiplier from it, whereas other tiers grant xp multipliers and minigame point rewards where you can get easy combat experience. I understand the oversaturation with youtube content, but this happens with any game that releases a hyped new mode or expansion. Runescape has always kinda inherently promoted what could be seen as an unhealthy amount of play time. Getting a max cape takes more time than getting max level in almost any other game. Getting 1 combat 99 on runescape takes more than getting a max level character on a lot of other games. It just comes with the territory of what they have set out to be in the gaming industry, a grindy game.

    I never played the other leagues. Figured I would give this leagues a try & told myself I would stop playing the moment I felt like i'm no longer having fun.
    Played for 4 days & got really burnt as I started losing motivation & having less fun. Decided to quit Leagues & return to the main game.
    Overall, I think Leagues 4 was successful as Jagex's Perspective. Tons of players playing, A LOT of ex-players coming back to the game for this. But for me personally, It just wasn't my cup of tea.
    On the youtube scene I agree, Leagues completely destroyed it. Videos are kinda dull unless it's rank 1 perspective, 200m perspective or a VERY entertaining content creator. It has also made my regular game youtube videos a -50% avg views.

    You are free to have your opinion about the league mode, but it would be better if you could atleast make some sense out of it.
    You complain how long it takes to get the last relic, remember that this game is an mmorpg, you are supposed to spend alot of time in it. That's like complaining that there is too much shooting in cod yet that game is full of shooting.
    I can agree that acquiring certain items is not really properly balanced since you need multiple area's to unlock. Having less content in certain area's is fair too but there is not much to do about it, also everyone has their taste in which regions they like.
    I disagree with the timemanagement. There is just as much players and even more playing between november - december, and yes I took the data of the year when there was no leagues. That's why jagex decided to give out league during the end of the year.
    I don't understand your view of that streamers will all upload leagues content. Whenever a new gamemode comes out or game, alot of people will stream it, upload on youtube and guess what, it's very repetitive. That's just how it is and has been for like when youtube existed?
    That's pretty much it, you didn't really explain that much how the gamemode is boring besides that it takes time to grind the relics and having certain items locked. Also seeing how you play ultimate ironman makes me think you prefer a slowpased grind, which leagues isn't.

  • @jususi71
    @jususi71 8 месяцев назад +1

    I get what u said about it being hard to get the final tier, u need to be efficent to get enough points and stuff and that is correct, but at the same time once u get that final relic the gamemode kinda stops for alot of people, u might hit up a few raids or bosses but then ure done with it, the remaining points to be had are like 50-200m exp, mega rare drops, and even when u get it, u just get league points. Imo the biggest flaw with leagues is that the trophies at different point thresholds arent enough of a motivation as unlocking a new relic or a new region is.
    In a way I think alot of players who is only able to spend a few hours a day might be getting the most fun out of this gamemode, compared to streamers who play this gamemode for 20 hours to cough up another 600 points, competing for highscores, how they dont burn out is beyond me.
    Still listening to the ramble tho, interesting take on being able to buy smouldering stone for points.

    • @roozki808
      @roozki808 8 месяцев назад

      The hardcore grinders don't burn out because this is content for their job.
      And dragon trophy is not really something that everyone should expect to get, I've seen a ridiculous amount of ppl who are barely scraping 2000 total in the maingame freakout about a solid plan to grind for that dragon trophy. It's literally an ultimate nerd trophy, people gotta remember to play at a pace that is enjoyable to them, not feel disappointed they don't have tumekens shadow or a tbow in the first 5 days just because their favourite streamer has one.

      No you don't lol, its extremely easy to get the final tier. I didn't even try to get points. I just did whatever I wanted at any given time, and got tier 8 in 10 days of playing casually.

    I feel like a lot of your complaints boil down to mage being the "meta" build a lot of people went while also having the worst and most linear progression. Playing leagues to be optimal is a huge trap I think, at least for this iteration of it. Unless you want your entire experience to boil down to getting trident, occult and ToA, don't go mage.

  • @emuhast

    This is my first leagues. I started playing around a year ago, and have been enjoying the game very much. Almost 90 slayer, almost 99 farming, started to do some PVM and such. The main game is still fun to me.
    I decided i'd use the leagues to learn content, die a bunch without losing 'real resources' (i play a main account like an iron. Havent used the GE yet, but i think i'd want to use it in the future, for grinds like 90+ herb, 90+ crafting and such, so decided to make a main).
    I really like the faster weapons, faster XP and bankers note allows me to throw myself at content i'd never try in the main game. The problem with leagues to me is that A LOT of the tasks are not fun to do, are not done organically, and you HAVE to basically do ~20 hours of diaries non-stop to get to tier 8. At this point, im not even tier 7, and i think i have already played more than i should have. People can say its skill issue and i wouldnt disagree, but man, the fast pace of leagues doesn't 'kick' as well as it should when you know you have to do some pointless tasks for it. I think it would be better if tasks were connected with one another. You just made 1000 addy bolts? (Which cmon, how is this a fun task). Ok, you unlocked the 1000 addy bolts task & the 1000 mith bolts task.
    That way, if you progressed 'faster' than you should in some areas, you wouldnt be obligated to do some useless tasks for you account. At this point it feels like im permanently locked doing 'easy diaries type tasks' for points, when my account is killing Leviathan consistently. Make it make sense

    The idea of area restrictions sounds cool, and it might be fun if it were more about overcoming unique restrictions and seeing what you can do under those circumstances. But task-based gameplay and streamlined progression just completely kill it for me. It's like turning the game into an endless list of chores.

    I played this League for a week, 18 hour days, and I got burned out around T7. I had done 131 Wintertodt KC and it was about that time I asked myself wtf am I doing, went to sleep and never logged in again. The tasks are extremely boring, and it feels like I am playing the same game as the main one but with some buffs. Twisted League was the best League so far because it truly felt like I was playing a new Runescape and they haven't captured that feeling in the three Leagues which followed.

    I really like Leagues, it is when I play OSRS the most. However the burnout and 'FOMO' aspect of it is really bad for the game. The point of Leagues is to have fun by limiting your account build. But OSRS mentality has us trying to max out, fill out logs, and just be as efficient as possible. Leagues is supposed to cut back on that, but instead it doubles that 'stress' due to the limited scope and time that you have. For example, my best way to train runecraft is to do GOTR or Law runes with recall, not fun. Either of those is a 10 hr grind for a skill I do not need, but I still want to do it for 'points' and 'max cape.' I have a life outside OSRS, I wont be able to play towards the end of the year due to the holidays.
    I believe part of why people give up (and rightly so) on leagues is because the magic of it dies fast. And the grinds are hard. I got to t8 in a week. I was playing A LOT. Why did I rush t8? Because I wanted the benefits of the relics before I started my grind. Now that i have everything, I dont really want to play anymore, but I am still because to me it is more fun than regular runescape. Faster xp, every boss takes

  • @zeroultra_osrs
    @zeroultra_osrs 8 месяцев назад

    My main problem with leagues 4 was just how fast you run out of new gameplay. You get a new relic, you get maybe at most 6 hours of new stuff to do. Then you're at tier 7 with 40 hours played and you're left with absolutely nothing to do other than essentially playing a more restricted version of the maingame for league points. There's fun to be had with this league, but it devolves into just playing a temporary version of the game with a dopamine treadmill attached to it and that's where it loses all substance to me.

    • @zeroultra_osrs
      @zeroultra_osrs 8 месяцев назад

      Also a lot of this is tied to the fact that I play an iron so if I'm playing leagues, I do actually want the cosmetics on the account where I can't just buy them from the grand exchange. Selfishly, this could have been solved for me by just adding a second or maybe even a third character slot to leagues where you can keep the points on one maingame account, but I don't want to pay to reroll a character where I don't even get any benefits in the maingame.

    I think leagues is fun if you already have a maxed account on main game, and you are just looking for some new way to reenjoy the game. But its definitely not for the majority of the playerbase that has been playing the game for 20 years and never gotten a single 99.

    • @JohnSmith-rr3jt

      I think the exact opposite. Leagues is better if you aren't maxed, because they you can do things you haven't already done at nauseam.

    I find leagues boring because its just stuff I have already done in main game, but with a slight twist (the relics). It just isn't interesting after having farmed the absolute shit out of this stuff already.
