- This video is different in nature than our usual travel and cruise vlogs, as we take you along to my homeland, Jamaica, for a look at how we spent the weekend remembering my grandmother. This is a sad trip to Jamaica, and at the same time, I think we made the best of it. In this video, there’s grief, nostalgia, faith, hope, love, joy, and legacy.

Thank you for sharing this precious occasion with us! This is what sets you apart from other channels.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! ♥🙏🏽
Hi Peta-Gaye, Wow what an awesome tribute to your Grandmother… you had me crying throughout this blog. Your reminiscing of the love and care she gave you, her other grand children and family as well as strangers… was heartfelt and touching and emotional. Even the scenes of the yars & spaces and just the sights of Kingston & that type of like love and care we Jamaicans grew up with was very nostalgic, albeit sad. In this your tribute to your grandmother, I relived the same experience as that of my grand aunt who, like your grandmother, gave up her career to be a caregiver I her nieces children. Thanks you for honouring your grandmother in such a way that spoke to most Jamaicans humble beginnings and the impact such familial rearing has on us all. May your grandmother rest in eternal peace. Thank you for sharing a tribute so personal & profound. 🙏🏾❤️
Thanks for watching, Nadine... and for allowing me to share with you. Thank you also for sharing your experience with me. One thing I truly admire about sharing our stories is we usually realize others have gone through similar experiences. I don't know if I would've ever known otherwise that you grew up with your Grandaunt. You know... I didn't realize until a few years ago, talking to a colleague from Grenada, that this was really a huge thing throughout the West Indies, and the world, and that there are even studies on what some call "transnational parenting"... although it seems hard to study... but who knew?!
Then, as you point out, another component that made this trip emotional is all the changes... the things that aren't the same as I remember, like my home and yard I grew up in and even the coconut vendor no longer along airport road... it makes me sad... BUT the memories and the things that are still there stir up joy.
Thank you again for watching and sharing your heart as well. Blessings to you and your family, my dear! ♥🙏🏽
So much was packed in this vlog. You showed exactly who you are: a kind woman, a faithful daughter and granddaughter, a proud mother and wife. I laughed, I cried and I was in awe of your history. It’s really something special to be co-raised by your grandmother. I had that experience too. My heart goes out to you. I was thinking of Numbers 6:24-26, and then you ended the video with those sentiments. God bless you.
P.S, your baby and those froot oos, and your husband and son dancing to your song in the hotel room. Priceless. I love that about our people. We mourn, but we rejoice!
Thank you for watching, and for sharing with me a glimpse into your life as well. It certainly is special to be co-raised by a loving grandmother. Thank you... I receive those blessings. I definitely meant it as I spoke it in the video... but let me pray specifically for you and your family... The Lord bless you and keep you and your family... the Lord cause His face to shine upon you and your family, and be gracious unto you and your family... the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and your family and give you and your family peace. In Jesus' name.❤🙏🏽
@@corlissknowles8974 thanks again.🥰 Yes to rejoicing through it all.🙌🏼 Have a wonderful week!❤🙏🏽
It took me a while to watch, but I am so happy I did. Your words were eloquent, just lovely. Had me crying with you. She sounded like a lovely woman. Again, my condolences.
...I am glad you mentioned how Blue Mountain coffee needs no sugar or cream. I thought it was just me!!
@@cromulus6877 thank you so much for watching and crying with me. 🫂 She really was a blessing. ❤️ Oh yes… no sugar or cream needed. ☕️🥰
Sorry about your loss! Thank you for sharing this and your culture with us.
Thanks for watching, Britt!
Sincere condolences 💐
Thanks Francine!🥰
Sorry for your loss
@@SeeItWithC thank you
This vlog truly warmed my heart and definitely triggered the water works lol. There is nothing more heartbreaking than losing your grandma and nothing more special than a Jamaican grandma. The way you spoke about your grandma and her love if I didn't know any better I'd think you were talking about mine. May her soul rest peacefully.
Peta this was a beautiful tribute thanks for sharing. Jamaica the land we love !!
Thank you so much for watching, Tiyana! Sorry about the water works... I definitely cried in editing the video and when watching the draft... but then, I thought I was ok to watch the premiere and all, but it was waterworks here too.😭 Awww... sending hugs as you remember your grandma too... mek mi find out seh yu used to run go hide inna the rose bush too when she waan do yu hair!😂 Honestly though... thanks for allowing me to share this with you. Thank you for sharing such an intimate moment with us.
You're welcome. Thank you for watching and allowing me to share.
Agree the AC is a great hotel. Service, food and vibe nice!!! Stayed there for the first time 2023.
And 2024 didn’t stay but went for drinks there to start off the nights out.
Yes... definitely enjoyed it there. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing
@@johns2388 you’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for sharing such an intimate experience. Your Jamaica 🇯🇲 is beautiful and grandmum’s home going was a lovely and grand occasion. Your eloquence in speaking your memories back to life for us all. My condolences dear. Peace and blessings. 🙏🏾🥰🩵
Thanks Keshia! Definitely appreciate you being at the premiere and allowing me to share with you. Thank you, as always, for your kind words and spirit that uplifts! Love and blessings! ❤🙏🏽
Thanks so much for sharing this precious video with us. May God continue to bless and caring your family ❤
Thank you so much for being at the premiere and allowing me to share with you, Margaret! I receive those blessings, in Jesus' name. 🙏🏽 Continued blessings to you and your family also. ❤🙏🏽
Grandma icy was a wonderful woman with a beautiful soul. It was a honor and privilege to know her and she always treated me like family. May she rest in eternal power.
This was bittersweet for me. I’ve been telling my wife for some time that I wanted to visit her hometown community but I never imagined it would be under these circumstances. Being in her hometown reminds me of my childhood in Barbados 🇧🇧. Laidback, slow paced with the closeness of friends and relatives. It gave me the realization that our different West Indian cultures have some similarities.
You already got your first real feel of Jamaica for our wedding in Negril... but I know you've wanted a feel of Kingston specifically and you've now gotten a tiny bit of it. Not the way either of us imagined, but I am thankful you were there and stood with me as I shared the remembrance. Grandma was a gem. She was truly amazing! I will miss those moments of you and her talking on WhatsApp in the midst of her conversations with Mommy and me.
Our West Indian cultures are very similar indeed... and I guess the same can be said throughout the Diaspora. One of the many things I love about traveling is experiencing similarities across the globe.
This was very beautiful Peta ❤. So emotional, and definitely a sad occasion, but still beautiful to see your kids witness some of what childhood was like for you. Your words for your grandmother’s service were just incredible, and the fact that Allan stood at your side the whole time ❤️❤️. Thank you for sharing this with us
Thanks fam! I truly appreciate you tuning into the premiere. Allan looked at me like I was crazy when I whispered to him at the church that he didn't need to get up there with me. 😂 I think Rai would've done the same thing... the look and all. 😂 Whew! KeKe... you already know, girl. Love y'all. Thank God for y'all and our friendship that allows me to share this and my behind-the-scenes/thoughts with you. Have a beautiful weekend! ❤🙏🏽
❤❤❤❤I'm sure this was tough to share but it was a beautiful tribute ❤.
Thank you! It was, but I'm thankful to be able to share it... and thankful for you and all those who allow me to share it. ❤🙏🏽
PETA. This was sad and beautiful at the same time. Dont think you saw it in the premiere but I had said thank you for sharing such an intimate and personal time in your lives. Allan was exactly where he was supposed to and more importantly wanted to be. Admire your family greatly. Sad now but you’ll eventually look this video in time with less sadness and more joy. Try to have a great weekend 🤗❤️🙏🏼
Thanks so much, Cydney! I definitely missed that comment in the premiere, so thank you for sharing it here... so I can let you know how much I appreciate you and thank YOU for allowing me to share this intimate family moment with you. Thanks for consistently uplifting us with your words and presence. Yes, I definitely felt the need to have a space for this in My Cruising Family's video library... and hope too that it will bring joy through/after the tears. 🫂❤🙏🏽
@@MyCruisingFamily you are very welcome 🫂❤️🙏🏼
I was analyzing your RUclips channel ( My Cruising Family ) Your video content is very nice. Your video does not have good rank tag and the video does not have good SEO. For this reason, your video is not being ranked and viewed.
@@md.arifhossain463 thanks for the concern. We’re ok.
I did not catch the premiere. I just finished viewing it. My husband came in the room and wanted to know who’s homegoing am I watching? He said whoever died was truly a blessed woman, dedicated to her family. He perceived all that from your eloquent words. I then told him you were one of my RUclips pals. 😊🤎 Thank you for giving us a glimpse of your time with family celebrating your grandmum’s life. We have a lot in common… I have two older sisters and we have the same father. Never ever was it taught to us that we were half sisters at all. That was never uttered. As you, my siblings are my siblings, I consider them a gift from God! Blessings to you Peta!!
Thanks for watching, Gina! Thanks also to you and your husband for those kind words. Wow! Love learning more about you and your family and love how you summed that up... our siblings are gifts from God! Blessings to you too, my dear! 🤎🙏🏽🥰
