The part where the man says "But you gave yourself so many years, why don't you give her that time?" That's so raw and real, never thought about it like that.. Sometimes it's hard for us to understand that other people move and comprehend situations on their own time, not ours. I hope Jerrod's and his family can overcome this because he truly is a wonderful soul.
I do too. That question asked from the audience was an honest and sincere one. I hope his family can come to understanding and accepting his truth. The way I see it is for a person to ask themself, were you friends and family with Jerrod yesterday, last week, last month, last year etc? He is the person you've known and cared about all this time, Why not give him the love and support necessary? His love life shouldn't to an issue.
Time for what exactly? Love doesn’t need time! You love your children or not! Religions and whatever you believe, are not more important than your children’s. Never!
Lemme tell you something. That’s his momma. She knew her son. His momma knew for years. She had all that time to accept. But now that he’s accepted it…she still can’t. Ta bout Jesus. That’s your damn son
The part about guilt and feeling complicit shook my whole core. Especially when he said he felt like the result of her prayers 😭 This was masterful storytelling 🖤

Most people in the world do not grow up as themselves either, their cultures, religions, environment, family, country etc all have something to say about who you are to be...
I watched the special today and I loved it. I’ve been a fan of his and felt a motherly need to hug him. I hope his mother will accept him along with continuing to love him
I'm from NC right up the road from where Jarrod Carmichael is from (Winston Salem) and I must say I am very proud of him for coming out like he did and not hide it in the shadows anymore. I know it had to be hard , because being from the South theres still a bad stigma on being gay and for that I find him very brave and inspiring to others the way he did it. I hope his family will be accepting and love him for who he is and I'm sure in time they will🙏. I wish the best for him and I truly believe this is the best move he could of made. Kudos to him!
He is very talented. This is an emotional experience. He’s going to be everywhere soon. There’s a reason he is hosting SNL. I can’t wait for this for him. ♥️🙌🏽
My grandson is gay and I'm his grandmother and I love my grandson unconditionally. My daughter struggles with it and he told us about eight years ago. My grandson is successful he's a real estate broker and has his PM certificate. He is the apple of my eye. Congratulations Jerrod!
If I knew this man, I'd give a hug right now. Cause I know that journey. I remember telling my mom was the hardest thing. It took her some years to come around, but she eventually did.
I hope to see this soon, the clips shown here from the Audience were accepting, compassionate and wise; the gentleman's statement to give his Mum the time that Jerrod took to publicly Come out especially. I Believe Jerrod and his Mum and Family will come together in time. gwendolin x!
His mom doesn't need time. I was 7 years old when I was explained by my mom that our family friend uncle Ronald wasn't allowed to see his religious parents anymore because he was living with his boyfriend. That explanation didn't make sense to me as a 7 year old kid and it doesn't now as an adult. People like Jerrod's mom is why absolutely hate every form of religion and have resentment for every person that is religious because even if they're not anti-gay they still believe in the same thing as Jerrod's mom. A thing that give people an excuse to do an awful thing to their own children just because they're kid happens to be gay. So don't make excuses for people like Jerrod's mom that they need time to adjust. Young kids don't need time to adjust to gay people, so why should adults
I actually met Jerrod at a house party in LA around 2015. Very humble, nice guy and I’m glad he can live his life freely now. Didn’t see it coming though lol
He was really great on SNL last night, opening monolog was funny, honest, I respect him a lot. I want to see this special. Best wishes for his success!
Thank you so much for sharing this video. And you are exactly right! As gay people, we had to grow up and repress those sexual desires in order to appease everyone and not make them uncomfortable. I’m now 31-years-old and out and proud. And although my parents do not accept me being gay, I don’t make it my main priority to gain their acceptance. I know things will get better for Jarrod in his journey. He’s already being loved and accepted by friends and colleagues.
This guy is good at what he does...and amazing communicator. His story will help so many young blacks tell and be comfortable with their true selves.....powerful clip.
Oh wow. I shouldn't jump straight into stereotypes, but I had no idea he was gay. WELL, you gotta live your truth. What most important is he is comfortable in his own skin
Thank you Graeme for the "checking yourself in the mirror before you go out" comparison! For someone like me (a cis straight female), it made the feeling you can have of not being accepted so much clearer, I will use this analogy from now on. Thank you! 🙏💕
Big fan of his. Always have been and always will be. Always thought his comedy was underrated and his show was absolutely brilliant at tackling issues. I have empathy for him and his mother. I am a straight black man who grew up in a conservative Christian West Indian home. He is from a conservative , southern black Christian home . If I where gay , I couldn’t imagine coming out the way he has. It is brave and bold as hell. But I know the Christian doctrines that guide his mothers life because I share that as well. She has grown up with scriptures saying being gay is not just a sin but an abomination. It has been ingrained in her from the time she was a child. She is tortured by his revelation and she fear for his very soul. That is very serious heartbreaking thing to her. She doesn’t want her son to be “ reprobate “ as the Bible teaches. What she will have to focus on is the fact that her son is ready to write her off and push her out of his life according to him. She needs to find a way to let him know that she loves him. I hope they come together and make this right because he is only going to have his mother but for so long. Life is too short for them to sever ties over this.
For those who have not seen Jerrod's interview with Seth Meyers. It's very moving and equally as heartbreaking. The Reporter said that he's going to be an Emmy winner, but I'm adding the whole buffet. This talented man is going to be an EGOT winner.
It was funny, emotionally moving, and Emmy-worthy. I can't recall the last time I was so riveted by the silence and awkwardness of a comedian's performance. It did not seem scripted at all, which is what made it such a unique and masterful production. The camera work was brilliant and really drew me in, feeling as though I was part of every heartbeat and breath he took before delivering each line. The silence was felt like both a safety net and a tightrope
I just learned of Jerrod from watching SNL last night. I was like this guy is funny and so handsome. I never thought about his sexuality. He is funny, great actor, and I love and support him! This was so moving to watch. Sending him love!
I've just watched his special. I first saw him on SNL. I thought he was hilarious and honest. His special was more heart filling and sad. Because you could feel his pain. I can't wait to see future projects of his. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Nice piece.
This is a beautiful clip you’ve talked about I am so sorry that the world has not been so accepting towards the LGBTQIA+ community. Growing up I didn’t know what gay was until about high school when my best friend came out to me and I remember hugging him me telling him that I loved him and that I accepted him for who he is even when his family didn’t. Now I’ve had many more people come out to me and have asked that I don’t disclose it to anyone until they’re ready and I tell them that I love them I always there for them and I will never divulge anything to anyone until they feel comfortable enough to share it publicly. Even though we are in 2022 and there is a little more acceptance for the LGBTQIA+ community there is definitely more work to be done and i for sure am going to be front and center to give my support to those who need it.
It’s an incredible special and I’m so happy it is getting such recognition and it’s also really funny. I’ve watched him for years, loved his tv show and think he’s super underrated. Thanks for uploading this
Jesus spoke about marriage between a man and a women. He didn’t have speak about homosexuality because it was explained in the law of Moses that man should not sleep with man and he said he didn’t come to cancel the law but to fulgurite. No withstanding, I think it’s wrong if Carmichael’s mom is rejecting him. She can disagree with his lifestyle and still love and accept him. I’m Christian and I have a moslem sister that I disagree with but that doesn’t change my love for her and my acceptance of her as a person with different views. We can’t change people. We should love them and pray for them. My gay friends know that I love them but they also know my belief in what the word of Gid teaches. We agree to disagree respectfully and just focus on our other commonalities. I break bread with everyone that wants to hang.
The thing is Ive been watching Jerrod since the beginning. And hes been hinting at his sexuality for years. So this was definitely no shock he came out. Bout time.
I don't want to judge you, I know that it's hard enough to survive in a world that wants to dictate every thought, every choice, and simply everything about other people. I'm not gay,but I have my own issues with this world wanting to dictate to me. Certain people will have a big problem with what I am about to say, but I hope and pray that you can find true happiness and peace within yourself. I hope that you never let this judging, condemning, hypocritical world ever make you hate your true identity. There's too many people in this world faking the funk and miserable. God bless you brother. And please, take good care of yourself.
I wish someone in that audience would have let him know to tell his Mom he's not going against Jesus. The Bible is mistranslated into English. The original word for sodomy in the old languages was referring to male rape (they had different words for male and female rape), and it had nothing to do with homosexuality. The Bible is against rape, not against consensual sex. Men could marry men back in the Old Testament days, so they definitely knew about it, and that wasn't what the Bible was referring to. It is not a sin to be gay. It's a sin to be a rapist.
I thought your comment was very interesting and got me really curious to look into it some more myself. Do you know or could you tell me what the original passage is in the original Latin or Hebrew or whatever language it is in? Thanks and have a good one.
@@usmcyounggun6879 Sure. In googling it, I found that (perhaps the rather simple definition I was taught) "male rape" isn't really directly attributed to any of the words used in ancient Hebrew that I found. "Yadha" seems the closest, with gang rape, and arsenokoitai is possibly male rape, but scholars argue about its meaning because it's a word Paul made up. I pulled the words from various online sources, which I've divided below using ---------- spacers: ----------------------------- sodomite was an English word translated from the Hebrew keddeshim, which designated persons guilty of “not ordinary immorality but religious prostitution, i.e., immorality practiced in the worship of a deity and in the immediate precincts of a temple” p 7 soundideas.pugetsound.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4390&context=faculty_pubs -------------------- Announcing judgment on these cities in Genesis 18, God sends two angels to Sodom, where Abraham’s nephew, Lot, persuades them to stay in his home. Genesis 19 records that "all the people from every quarter" surround Lot’s house demanding the release of his visitors so "we might know them." The Hebrew word for "know" in this case, yadha, usually means "have thorough knowledge of." It could also express intent to examine the visitors’ credentials, or on rare occasions the term implies sexual intercourse. If the latter was the author’s intended meaning, it would have been a clear case of attempted gang rape. The Hebrew word for a male cult prostitute, qadesh, is mistranslated "sodomite" in some versions of the Bible. The Hebrew word ‘toevah,’ here translated ‘abomination,’ does not usually signify something intrinsically evil, like rape or theft (discussed elsewhere in Leviticus), but something which is ritually unclean for Jews, like eating pork or engaging in intercourse during menstruation, both of which are prohibited in these same chapters. Unfortunately, some new translations are worse, rendering these words "homosexuals." Recent scholarship unmasks the homophobia behind such mistranslations. The first word - malakos, in the Greek text-which has been translated "effeminate" or "soft," most likely refers to someone who lacks discipline or moral control. The word is used elsewhere in the New Testament but never with reference to sexuality. The second word, Arsenokoitai, occurs once each in I Corinthians and I Timothy (1:10), but nowhere else in other literature of the period. It is derived from two Greek words, one meaning, "males" and the other "beds", a euphemism for sexual intercourse. Other Greek words were commonly used to describe homosexual behavior but do not appear here. The larger context of I Corinthians 6 shows Paul extremely concerned with prostitution, so it is very possible he was referring to male prostitutes. But many experts now attempting to translate these words have reached a simple conclusion: their precise meaning is uncertain. religiousinstitute.org/denom_statements/homosexuality-not-a-sin-not-a-sickness-part-ii-what-the-bible-does-and-does-not-say/ -------------------------------------- Ancient Greek and Latin words Paul could have used arrenomanes - meaning mad after men or boy crazy dihetaristriai - a synonym referencing lesbian sexuality, meaning essentially the same thing as hetairistriai, tribad, tribades, from: Love Between Women: Early Christian Responses to Female Homoeroticism, Brooton, Bernadette, p. 23. erastes - a sometimes older man who loves a sometimes younger male eromenos - a sometimes younger male who loves an older male euryproktoi - men who dress as women, also a vulgar reference to anal penetration frictrix - Latin word referring to a lewd woman and sometimes used to refer to a lesbian. Tertullian, 160-220 AD, translated tribas (a masculine woman) as frictrix. hetairistriai - women who are attracted to other women, used by Plato’s character Aristophanes, in The Symposium. May also refer to hyper-masculine women, from Lucian’s Dialogue of the Courtesans, cited by Brooten, p. 52. kinaidos - a word for effeminate, κίναιδος or kínaidoi (cinaedus in its Latinized form), a man "whose most salient feature was a supposedly feminine love of being sexually penetrated by other men." Winkler, John J., 1990, The Constraints of Desire: The Anthropology of Sex and Gender in Ancient Greece, New York: Routledge. Although some scholars, like Dr. Robert Gagnon, understand kinaidoi to mean the passive partner in a male couple, Davidson argues that kinaidoi refers to a man insatiable and unrestrained in his sexual appetites instead of merely effeminate or passive. Davidson, J. 1997. Courtesans & Fishcakes: The Consuming Passions of Classical Athens, New York, p. 167-182. lakkoproktoi - a lewd and vulgar reference to anal penetration lesbiai - a synonym referencing lesbian sexuality, meaning essentially the same thing as dihetaristriai, hetairistriai, tribad, tribades, from: Love Between Women: Early Christian Responses to Female Homoeroticism, Brooton, Bernadette, p. 23. paiderasste - sexual behavior between males paiderastes or paiderastïs - παιδεραστής derived from the Greek word pais, παῖς a boy, meaning lover of boys paidomanes - a male mad for boys or boy crazy paidophthoros - a Greek word meaning corrupter of boys pathikos - the passive penetrated partner in a male couple tribades - an ancient Latin word indicating the active female partner of a lesbian pair, sometimes interpreted to mean a pseudo-male, referencing genital contact between women. Rashi defines it as “rubbing in a sexual manner.” tribas - the active partner in a lesbian relationship, who takes the male role If Paul had used one of these words in Romans 1:26-27 or 1 Corinthians 6:9 or 1 Timothy 1:10, we could be reasonably certain of his meaning. However, Paul did not use any of these words, suggesting he had something else in mind, like rape, interspecies sex or shrine prostitution, when he coined his interesting new Greek word, arsenokoitai. www.gaychristian101.com/what-words-could-paul-have-used-if-he-intended-to-condemn-homosexuality.html ---------------- I hope this helps in your search! Peace.
As you can see from the last entry I copied, they already had many words for homosexuals in the ancient world, so they had no need to use other words that didn't mean that at all in their writings. They were trying to convey another meaning, clearly, though some of the words used we can only speculate what idea they were hoping to convey. I always knew there were multiple words that got mistranslated, but I was just told they all meant "male rape" and never actually bothered to look into it myself. I was taught homosexuality isn't a sin, and that's all I really needed to know back then, but it was interesting learning all of this!
He was deep. The subject is deep. Your mother loves you. This happened in my family. Much love to you. You and your mom will work it out and be okay. I pray
this was absolutely masterful. came here from snl, and was actually surprised to find such an emotional storytelling of his coming out. and the audience interaction, and his extremely insightful words just made it so good. 11/10
Black woman are the most supportive but also the most critical, but I honestly believe that people can actually choose to be gay. Everyone can choose to be straight Everyone is straight everyone can be gay or bisexual but everyone can choose what they want.and can also change back when they want. Everyone can choose whatever they want at whatever age or time they want
“I walk on water but only when it’s frozen”Beyoncé. Of your truth and be happy with who you are. Keep your head up and hang in there. You’re an amazing person and your mother deep down knows that. All of my love to you person I don’t know. I find your story extremely inspiring. I’m not gay I wish more people could be comfortable being themselves. I may not be gay but I struggle. I had a miscarriage at 21 weeks and I lost my fertility and then my husband divorced me. I found love again. Life throws you curve balls and people will surprise you. Take the good leave the bed. You truly are an inspiration to a lot of people!
This was such a powerful special. I saw him on SNL and watched the special literally just now. I have never cried so much from a comedy special. So funny and so raw and beautiful.
Yeah, that was 25 years ago and I'm still fighting that fight. No matter what your struggle..no how matter.....wait weren't we past this 30 years ago..no, it's real and it's every day. Stay strong..stay true to yourself!
Saw when this made the news rounds and thought nothing of it. Then yesterday my 11 yr old son told me he liked a boy. I said all the things needed to make sure he is loved and accepted my us. Now I’m have to actually process this. I know I don’t want him to be like this young man when he grows up.
I’m a 62-year-old man each one of us have our own coming out story and our own path. I know when I fully excepted me then the people around me excepted me because they knew I wouldn’t take anything less. That’s just the way it was because I didn’t know that beforehand. I guess that is the journey self acceptance and anyone else that wants to come along for the ride is more than welcome
I'm a straight white female who moved on as a single mother, leaving an abusive partner. My mother and family didn't approve of that in 2009. If people are still having issues with women leaving abusive men...then of course they are still having problems with their children coming out. I love Jerrod...I know what he's going through. Time heals all wounds. Time away...makes them miss you and realize your value. Just take time away from everyone..Time for yourself...they always come crawling back. Trust me!
I just finished watching his special and I was moved by it and I recommended that my family (Mom, Dad, sisters) watch it. I was concerned that he seems very depressed and I hope he doesn’t do anything irreversible. I hope this special isn’t some kind of setup for him to remove himself from life and to leave this special behind as a warning to other families about how NOT to treat a family member that comes out of the closet.
It´s hard because of religion and black culture. In this age! How sad is that. And what a contrast with like the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries.
Love does not require approval. I don’t love everything that anyone does, including myself… but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love people or myself. Even more, Jesus loves us even though we all fall short. Find Him and find Eternal Peace. 🙏🏾
My nephew/now niece is transgender..and my 1st cousin is gay and I just thank God they are alive I can talk to them otp...other than that I'm just greatful their safe 🙏🏿 and alive ..hope thi a helps others who have gay loved ones ..
Anyone else ever notice when an individual is in the spotlight or entertainment business they always come out with an announcement they’re gay even if the people around them knew? I can care less if he’s gay or straight. Art is art(entertainment)and who am I to judge what someone sexuality is. But the last few years it’s been a trend for people to announce they gay. Just seems fishy.
I don’t think this was as shocking as he thought. The audience was like “yeah, it was pretty obvious, but I guess we should clap”. The sad part was that he said he has to reconfigure God to accept himself. At that point you don’t have an all knowing/powerful God, you have something you imagined. And that sucks because God is 100% merciful and just, but don’t get to pick/choose which parts you agree with. All he wants is that you trust him enough to know that he has your best interest in mind. It also sucks that so many people misrepresent what Jesus/God are about. Truth, Love & Grace. Love means that you tell people the truth in a graceful way.
Imagine, living your own life, and changing your domestication, and not giving a fuck. Crazy thought right, but lets blame society, because you have no control, of your mindset.
Me personally I think he should have kept that to hisself Luther vandross was gay but he never openly admitted it because it would have ruin his career but we knew anyway “
Guess it wasn't for me. I clicked on it on Netflix, sat through the long cool jazz intro and listened for about 5 minutes and thought: I don't care and turned to another selection. Why am I supposed to care or be interested in this guy?
The part where the man says "But you gave yourself so many years, why don't you give her that time?" That's so raw and real, never thought about it like that..
Why o why do you all pander to people who come out- (it's a... Make me famous) card
That's cool....but, its they're Ace card to move forward in they're chosen craft
It’s an incredible special and I’m so happy it is getting such recognition and it’s also really funny. I’ve watched him for years, loved his tv show and think he’s super underrated. Thanks for uploading this
Jesus never mentioned sexuality, just love.
Thank you.
He also mentioned helping the poor, a time or two....just to say.
Ever read the bible?
What Bible are people reading 🤦🏾♀️
@@fayegillespie8426 Are you implying Jesus talked about homosexuality?
Bout time.
I now get why Bro was on Igor.
Here in 2024… thank you for this summary! I plan on watching this! ❤
Can someone lend me their HBOMax login? 😂
Seriously though, I cannot wait to see this (someday)!
I pulled the words from various online sources, which I've divided below using ---------- spacers:
-----------------------------
sodomite was an English word translated from the Hebrew keddeshim, which designated persons guilty of “not ordinary immorality but religious prostitution, i.e., immorality practiced in the worship of a deity and in the immediate precincts of a temple” p 7 soundideas.pugetsound.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4390&context=faculty_pubs
--------------------
Announcing judgment on these cities in Genesis 18, God sends two angels to Sodom, where Abraham’s nephew, Lot, persuades them to stay in his home.

--------------------------------------
Ancient Greek and Latin words
Paul could have used
arrenomanes - meaning mad after men or boy crazy
dihetaristriai - a synonym referencing lesbian sexuality, meaning essentially the same thing as hetairistriai, tribad, tribades, from: Love Between Women: Early Christian Responses to Female Homoeroticism, Brooton, Bernadette, p. 23.
erastes - a sometimes older man who loves a sometimes younger male
eromenos - a sometimes younger male who loves an older male
euryproktoi - men who dress as women, also a vulgar reference to anal penetration
frictrix - Latin word referring to a lewd woman and sometimes used to refer to a lesbian.
lakkoproktoi - a lewd and vulgar reference to anal penetration
lesbiai - a synonym referencing lesbian sexuality, meaning essentially the same thing as dihetaristriai, hetairistriai, tribad, tribades, from: Love Between Women: Early Christian Responses to Female Homoeroticism, Brooton, Bernadette, p. 23.
paiderasste - sexual behavior between males
paiderastes or paiderastïs - παιδεραστής derived from the Greek word pais, παῖς a boy, meaning lover of boys
paidomanes - a male mad for boys or boy crazy
paidophthoros - a Greek word meaning corrupter of boys
pathikos - the passive penetrated partner in a male couple
tribades - an ancient Latin word indicating the active female partner of a lesbian pair, sometimes interpreted to mean a pseudo-male, referencing genital contact between women. Rashi defines it as “rubbing in a sexual manner.”
tribas - the active partner in a lesbian relationship, who takes the male role
If Paul had used one of these words in Romans 1:26-27 or 1 Corinthians 6:9 or 1 Timothy 1:10, we could be reasonably certain of his meaning. However, Paul did not use any of these words, suggesting he had something else in mind, like rape, interspecies sex or shrine prostitution, when he coined his interesting new Greek word, arsenokoitai.

I hope this helps in your search!
😂😂😂😂 this is not true
He was deep. The subject is deep. Your mother loves you. This happened in my family. Much love to you. You and your mom will work it out and be okay. I pray
No surprise to us when you been moving zesty...
I knew he looked stank or some. Bro got grocery oil in his pores 😂
this was absolutely masterful. came here from snl, and was actually surprised to find such an emotional storytelling of his coming out. and the audience interaction, and his extremely insightful words just made it so good. 11/10
That’s so beautiful but now I can’t stop crying
Black woman are the most supportive but also the most critical, but I honestly believe that people can actually choose to be gay. Everyone can choose to be straight Everyone is straight everyone can be gay or bisexual but everyone can choose what they want.and can also change back when they want. Everyone can choose whatever they want at whatever age or time they want
Good for him! I feel like nobody should be judged for who they like or love ❤️! Grateful that he’s living his truth 👍🏾!
The biggest news here is that "The Carmichael Show" was a "big hit".
Who didn't know he was gay...been knew
His family probably did too but was hoping he stayed in the closet and be unhappy so they would look a certain way! Just sad!
I understand completely how this brother feel God bless you God love you God stands by you he will show you AMAN AMAN AMAN
You don't want him to grow up feeling like he's not accepted you mean
It doesn't feel like comedy, but more like therapy. A novel approach, but unfamiliar to me in stand-up.
Great recap Graeme! I think I'll check out his special.
I'm still rockin with him 💯
I’m a 62-year-old man each one of us have our own coming out story and our own path. I know when I fully excepted me then the people around me excepted me because they knew I wouldn’t take anything less. That’s just the way it was because I didn’t know that beforehand. I guess that is the journey self acceptance and anyone else that wants to come along for the ride is more than welcome
The secret is that im YAG...waits for crowd response
It would be shocking if he didn't receive an Emmy for this. Just beautiful.
Your outfit analogy was very insightful. Thank you for that.
Everybody gay!
Had to leave my family behind. My partner of 40 years is my only family now.
It´s hard because of religion and black culture. In this age! How sad is that. And what a contrast with like the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries.
jerrod is amazing! nothing is more heartbreaking then having to tell a loved one a truth
He needed the applause desperately it seems. 😅😅
How is it a secret when he came out on the breakfast club a few years ago
Msybe because came across as bisexual. I don't know I didn't even know about The Breakfast Club interview until yesterday
Love does not require approval.
I don’t love everything that anyone does, including myself… but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love people or myself.
Even more, Jesus loves us even though we all fall short. Find Him and find Eternal Peace.
🙏🏾
Jerrod, please give your mom time, but don’t leave her behind . She will come around. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Good for him. You could tell he was nervous. One life to live. Live your truth.
My nephew/now niece is transgender..and my 1st cousin is gay and I just thank God they are alive I can talk to them otp...other than that I'm just greatful their safe 🙏🏿 and alive ..hope thi a helps others who have gay loved ones ..
No your nephew is a pathetic clout chaser. Tell him don’t reproduce AT ALL
My favorite comedian in the last decade. Love bro
Shout out to jerrods mom.
He waited for applause 😶
Something about him looks different. If you look at the still picture for this video, he doesn’t look like his usual self.
At least he was honest sbout himself unlike the people who are in denial
Anyone else ever notice when an individual is in the spotlight or entertainment business they always come out with an announcement they’re gay even if the people around them knew? I can care less if he’s gay or straight. Art is art(entertainment)and who am I to judge what someone sexuality is. But the last few years it’s been a trend for people to announce they gay. Just seems fishy.
Jerrod is awesome
I wish I was there to experience that. You had to be there
It's funny but it's true it stings a little when it's one of ours😢
Wow. I am not surprised.
It was his 3rd hbo special not his first.
Me personally I think he should have kept that to hisself Luther vandross was gay but he never openly admitted it because it would have ruin his career but we knew anyway “
Very well stated! You and Jerrod!
Just saw this special it’s dope salute to JC
He is a funny cat.. I will to see him on SNL cast
Wow this was powerful
Not his first special, fyi. But the first he came out!
He is my age exactly , I have realised people our age are coming out in big numbers yo.. wow
Blessins! Jerrod Carmichael
On stage therapy ! Great concept.
As a human being I respect that cause that was fuckin deep of him to do💙
I have a white husband. I understand 🏳️🌈
Guess it wasn't for me. I clicked on it on Netflix, sat through the long cool jazz intro and listened for about 5 minutes and thought: I don't care and turned to another selection. Why am I supposed to care or be interested in this guy?
Gay or not he’s avg and boring
The first time you say it out loud the feeling is so odd
I didn’t know that as soon as u come out as gay u lose all control of your wrists
