Most of the leaky filters and flooded houses - that I see - are due to knock-off and/or fake water filters sold on Amazon and eBay. Ideally, if you have the time and general mechanical knowledge, you can run an in-line filter under the sink before the waterline gets to the fridge and change that filter every six months and just leave the one on your fridge alone. This will save you money and give you much better water quality.
