MJ team put out rumors that Inoue didn’t want to fight MJ. It started with Goodman got into the ring after Inoue/Tapale fight and ran his mouth. So Inoue accepted to fight him and the date was set for September. But the Goodman backed out and somehow got both of his hands broke. He left Inoue hanging without an opponent for the September bout. MJ could’ve raised his hand and took the fight in replaced of Goodman. But his team said MJ was not ready to fight in September. That’s how the name TJ Doheny came into the picture. Inoue wants to stay active and wants to fight every 3-6 months. He’s not going wait for MJ who’s not even on his level. 16 and 1 record is not very impressive. Inoue just knocked out a guy who had taken the 2 belts from MJ.

Hmm. It's less that Inoue isn't capable of the early stoppage and more that he has matured as a fighter. His last stoppage win in the first six rounds was two years ago in his rematch against Donaire. The level of his competition has gone up and he has adjusted his game. Doheny is probably the best chance you get to have another early KO given his age and style. Now that he is going up in weight, I think it's smart that Inoue is being patient and using his boxing skill more than relying on his power. Given the monster's reputation, I just hope Doheny doesn't fight negative like Butler the whole fight. I'd be delighted to be wrong and this is the fight to do it. But I think the days of Inoue's first round KOs might be behind us. And maybe that's good thing because he is still one of the most talented tactical boxers in the game. We will see.

When he first come onto the scene my dad who had just been diagnosed with cancer wanted to go up to scotland to watch him. We got the fight tickets and had a flight booked when my dad took a turn for the worse and we didnt get to go. The monster is 1-50 to win on tuesday. The bookies dont want you to get on the monster
