Collaboration, I think, is the key here between offshore and the customer.
So I've been in situations where I was called to fix a problem, and what it boiled onto was that the communication between the offshore and the customer was not effective.
And the simple reason was, I mean, the reason was very simple.
One, the offshore team did not understand the culture or the working habits of the customer, and vice versa, by the way.
And second, the offshore team did not understand the business domain clearly.
So the customer and the offshore team were talking with two different languages, essentially, even though they were speaking English; their jargon was completely different and they were not understanding each other, because offshore could not understand the jargon of the customer, and the customer could not use that lingo effectively to explain what they actually needed or wanted to the offshore team.
I tried to fix it first and foremost.
And to fix it, you can be in the middle, try to explain on both sides what the culture is and how to adapt or understand better what the culture is.
The other problem is that very often customers do not even document their requirements.
    That also is a problem.
What I would strongly suggest is that you document your requirements and the offshore team model those requirements into specifications.
You review those specifications and you confirm that those specifications are adequate to your requirements.
You know that the solution that will come out of it is going to be the solution that you will need.
