    The level of fitness and physical strength to still be able to play like this after 5 hours. It's amazing. Poor Sinner wasn't just up against Alcaraz in the final set, but up against the net cord too. Both of these are amazing young players and I think there will be many more matches between them in a classic rivalry.

    The best part of the match was the warm embrace between the two at the end of the match. Such mutual respect between these two absolute warriors. Sinner was clearly devastated, but showed incredible class in defeat. I look forward to the rivalry between these two in the years to come. I have been an avid tennis fan since 1995 and have watched countless matches through the years but I have to say that this match was one of the most spectacular matches I've ever seen. The quality, pace and accuracy of the shots were incredible and the players maintained that high level throughout the marathon match. I was very glad at the end when Carlos won. • @Ja-rz9fq
      @Ja-rz9fq 2 года назад +2

      Believe me, when it comes to physical preparation and fitness requirements, tennis is not even close to sports like football (soccer) or boxing. Ten minutes of playing football or 3 mins active boxing is like 1+ hour of tennis, even that is pretty much an understatement, cause in tennis you almost never make 100% sprints, you run few meters here and there with 60-70% of your full speed, once in a while. Playing football youre in motion with a minimum 50% of your speed almost all the time, and every now and then you need to raise that speed to 90-100%. In boxing you need to be on at least 80% motion all the time, and when theres action you are 100% in or you die. And we can take a look into statistics in order to prove my claims, just take some Premier or Champions league football match player's statistics and compare that with tennis players - its not even close.

      @Ja-rz9fq 2 года назад +1

      @@seaneckhart9914 Look, I see you never played soccer, so I wont argue with you by telling my experience - you wont get it. Instead, I found some stats, and man oh man, even I was shocked by what it says:
      Out of all tennis players on this US Open Alcaraz has the most area covered. He covered 9.7 miles, which is 15.6km. And this is before final match. So it is about 19 hours of tennis and 15.6km distance covered. Out of that 15.6km only about 2km is a high-speed run.
      The last Champions League round had two players cover the same distance of 13.2km in JUST 90 MINUTES OF PLAY.
      So even tennis players (in this case Alcaraz) have many breaks during the match - so a lot of space to take a rest, still he managed to travel just 2.5km more in over 12 times more playing time. And dont forget soccer players have to do it in only 105 mins (90+15 mins of half time).
      CONCLUSION: tennis is no way near football when it comes to physical preparation and fitness needed for playing at a high level.

    Yes Sinner obviously did not take his chances towards the end of this incredible match but honestly, on a different day the match would likely never have gotten to that point in the first place as it was nearly an even bigger throw by Alcaraz in just the first 3 sets alone. He had something like 4/17 break points by the time the 3rd set finished, if not more. He had a ridiculous amount of missed opportunities - had he taken even half of those break points this match would have been over in 3 straight, maybe 4 sets at a push and not the 5 set, 5+ hour marathon he put himself through. Being more efficient with his opportunities is something that should improve with age, maturity and experience though, and something that you’d expect JC Ferrero and his team to work on over the coming months.

    • @babatundekalejaiye7046
      @babatundekalejaiye7046 2 года назад +2

    • @Alboravin
      @Alboravin 2 года назад +2

      @Anders That’s ironic considering no one here is panicking about anything.
      Besides, it’s all positive criticism. Carlos is so close already to being the full package and the most complete tennis player we’ve seen for a long time. To do what he is doing at 19 right now is unreal.

    • @WindyMelly
      @WindyMelly 2 года назад +2

      @Anders Carlos did miss that easy forehand put away in the second set, which would have brought him up two sets to love. Carlos can play these incredible difficult shots but can sometimes miss the easiest ones when he lacks focus. He needlessly suffered for five hours and almost lost the match because of it. I hope he continues to grow and improve his game, because now that he's ranked number one, all the players are coming for him.

    • @Alboravin
      @Alboravin 2 года назад +1

      @Anders It’s absolutely a fair critique just for the point highlighted by WindyMelly in her reply to you. That’s just one example of where he was in full control of a rally, and what would have been a routine put-away forehand or backhand turned into an unforced error due to a lack of focus and an adrenaline rush. A ridiculous amount of missed opportunities turns what should have been a 3-4 set sweep into a 5 set, 5+hr marathon.
      But like I mentioned this will all improve with time. It sounds odd to say it but his biggest weakness right now is his age - he’s just a bit more maturity and consistency away from near-perfection as a tennis player. That and getting coaching lessons from his idol Federer (now that he’s retiring) on how to adapt his game better to grass. 😛

    Sinner and Alcaraz will be the next generation bigs. To me this match was amazing of course, I'm a bit disappointed couse Sinner lost the peace and Alcaraz took the chance with fierceness. The result doesn't respect the true level of the challenge where Sinner is slightly better in my opinion but in the end the winner takes it all.

    These taller tennis players I'm still on the fence as to whether they can be all time greats or not....I think the limits to be effective player stops around 6'2" or less......I feel like any larger than that its just to hard to move and make the quick stops and starts effeciently and they will always be outquicked by a smaller/shorter opponent.....of course, don't get me wrong there are advantages to being this tall and playing tennis as well, but ultimately, those advantages don't outweigh the negatives.....so these tall players have nasty serves and some extra power, but the mobility and agility I believe suffer......so these majors it seems you will always see 6 to 6'2 players winning it....even on the last serve here, Alcaraz was about to handcuff this guy.......
