When I was a kid back the 50's and 60's we great friends with the Goodmans. They were poor and didn't have much. They sang at our little church in the country. They even had their own church in madisonville , Ky called the LIFE TEMPLE. I miss those days. I wasN't but 5 years old when they came to our house. My mother and Vestal were good friends. We went to their church many a times.
@@Elvis__TCB It has of course 60 years ago. Moma and her were good friends. She was a sweet woman ,Vestal was. We kind of lost contact in the in 70's when they moved to a different town. They traveled a lot.
@@shellyblanchard5788 I appreciate hearing this. I wondered what Vestal was really like when the camera was off. It is good to hear she was probably the same! A true woman of God!
I got the joy of going to the very first of the Bill Gaither Homecoming concerts in 1997 at the Tarrant County Convention Center on Feb 13 & 14. The Happy Goodman's were singing and they did Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now and they were rocking the place! The whole arena was jumping!!! My (now ex) husband grabbed me by the arm and told me to stop shaking the stands. I pulled my arm back and told him it wasn't me doing it! That's when he looked around and realized everyone was getting happy! 🤣🤣🤣 It was fantastic!
They showed us how to live and they showed us how to go home in great Glory how thankful I am for these great singers of Our Lord leading the way!! Amen!
I thank God that even though they are gone home. We are capable of experiencing their music and performance as we can today. And I wish to thank everyone who downloaded all of these wonderful singers and musicians for us to enjoy.
_"...they are gone home."_ Not according to the Bible, Ron. *No one has ever gone into heaven* except Jesus. (John 3:13) *No man hath seen God at any time….* (John 1:18)
@@IsaacNussbaum That was until Jesus died on the cross for us, so you're taking that out of context. Before Jesus died so that we may be saved, everyone who now goes to heaven would have went to a place called Abraham's Bosom, but now that Jesus paid the price, we choose either heaven or hell. But it's not as easy as just "choosing", but you'd have to act accordingly. Read your Bible more.
P.S. I just ran across this verse, Josh. I think that you will find it interesting. _"Wonder not at this, because there doth come an hour in which all those in the tombs shall hear his voice, and they shall come forth; those who did the good things to a rising again_ *OF LIFE,* _and those who practised the evil things to a rising again of_ *JUDGMENT.* (John 5:28-29, Young's Literal Translation) Note several things here. 1) Jesus is talking about a future time ON EARTH. 2) The dead are ON EARTH, too. 3) At that time Jesus will give the righteous life. That means that before that time they were not alive. They were not in Heaven rollerblading on streets of gold. They were in the grave. Dead. 4) And, at that time, Jesus will raise the unrighteous to judgment. Obviously, they were not in Hell because, prior to this event, they had not yet faced judgement. _"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad."_ See, the wicked are not punished until AFTER the judgment seat of Christ. I hope this helps, Josh. All the best, sir.
@@IsaacNussbaum then there IU s verse where Jessus is on cross and says to the one next to Him and says You'll See Me in Paradise. Also, paul says absent from body, prescient with the Lord, so our soul and Spirit are immediately with Christ. The dear, meaning our buried bodies are raised later.
These songs were all about encouraging the saints in the hope of eternity. Love it. It appears this was done around 1979 or 80? Just going by Vestal’s glasses (a popular style around that time) and the rust colored carpet.
So glad to hear this! Rev. Derrick was pastor of Macedonia Baptist in the 1950's. A few blocks away was LANE COLLEGE, where I was a student. In about 1969, I served as minister of music at MACEDONIA. Thanks for knowing and respecting this gifted man! I am now 81.
