- In this video, I show you how to hide and unhide the Meet Now icon in Windows 10. Sorry if this is super obvious, but I thought it might be helpful to some users. These instructions as well as instructions to remove Skype are below.
The easiest way is to just right-click on the icon and click "hide". (starts around 0:35) Not sure if that will keep it permanently hidden, but it stayed hidden for me after a restart.
Another option to hide or to unhide it, is to change it in your settings (starts around 0:59)
-Click on START - SETTINGS and search for "turn system icons on or off" and turn Meet Now on or off. (Click path: start - settings - personalization - taskbar - "turn system icons on or off" (under notification area))

If you don't want to use Skype, you may uninstall it by going to SETTINGS - APPS - under APPS & FEATURES, scroll down from the list of apps then click Skype and UNINSTALL it.

For those who want this Meet Now icon completely removed from your computer, not just hidden, it appears that is not an option at this time. From what I've researched, this icon is essentially a shortcut to open Skype, either the version on your computer or a web version if you do not have Skype installed. It's not actually a program, just a launcher. It is intended to be helpful, but I know I was surprised to find it one day, as I'm sure many of you are. This Microsoft Community post has some interesting information about it: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/forum/all/how-do-i-completely-remove-meet-now/64981afc-ee94-4483-ba00-9ef9ccf09ec4
You can also share your feedback on Meet Now or anything else Microsoft-related through their feedback hub (which I also just realized was a program on my computer...) by clicking on Start - Feedback Hub. This article explains it more in-depth: support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/send-feedback-to-microsoft-with-the-feedback-hub-app-f59187f8-8739-22d6-ba93-f66612949332
