Goldenkitten1 Part of it has to do with his voice actor. Paul Dobson, the guy who does Gabriel Angelos, was his voice actor in Dark Crusade. Even though voice actors often get multiple roles in the same game or show, the Dobson bros have their own brand of voice that is instantly recognizable. If Paul had done Eliphas while also still doing his voice for Gabriel, people would pick it up. Or it could be that Steve Blum managed to gnab Eliphas's part faster during auditions. VA's gotta eat too.
Halcyon Industries Well I don't think it would be THAT big a deal. Remember that the brothers did...pretty much EVERY voice in the original DoW games save a few. Almost all the main characters were voiced by them and they did a lot of the unit voices as well. They're incredibly talented like the best voice actors are and can readily change their voices to sound like completely different people. Considering they did almost every voice in the original DoW and its expansions and that never broke the immersion for me (or others it would seem given their ratings) I highly doubt two characters sharing the same VA would have been distracting in 2. Especially when you consider how good they were at not sounding anything like one another in the first. And if someone did have to have a voice change I'd have preferred Gabriel honestly. He always had "stock space marine leader voice of inspiration" going on that lots of VA's can do. Not as many can do the Dark Crusade Eliphas voice which was like 75% of the reason he was so damn popular. Sure his actions were one reason, but let's be straight, he got so popular because he SOUNDED so beautifully evil. It was just a shame to lose that.

I love how they characterized Araghast as the Chas Lord in this game. He loves carnage and blood shed but it doesn't stop him from scheming and plotting unlike the psychos in the first games(Eliphas excluded).
Firaveus really was poorly done. He was Alpha Legion so it would have been easy enough to have a Lord not devoted to Khorne. The Chaos undivided Legions revere different aspects of Chaos so Carron being different to Bale would have made sense. Crull gets a pass because his company was obviously an offshoot of a Worl Eater warrant and they go all in on the Blood.
Araghast and Eliphas's partnership will always remind me of Megatron and Starscream, not just because of there voices, but the personalities are almost the same =D
The best part of the dynamic between Eliphas and Araghast is that after you remove some of the post-processing sound to their lines, you would realise that Eliphas has basically the same voice as Starscream from TFP, and Araghast is literally the same as Megatron from WFC/FOC. Yes, the BLUD REHVENS are literally fighting the Decepticons. Yes, "Starscream" betrays "Megatron" here as well.
Well, it's not Megatron from Prime, but Araghast is voiced by Fred Tatasciore, the guy who voiced Megatron in WFC and FOC. So yeah, there *is* a Starscream and Megatron here.

@TANSKBD Actually, it stands to note that with Imperium gear, the older it is the better it is. Back in the glory days they were capable of making much better equipment. If you put a Great Crusade era Terminator armor against a modern version the Great Crusade one would win every time.

Abaddon launched most of the Dark Crusades and failed all of them so how is he not a failure?
