After years of checking blackbox logs and running comparison testing at race events, my general advice for racers is D500 + Race telemetry mode + 50mW fixed power. F1000 doesn't work well with Betaflight feedforward (10bit resolution is too low). In addition, F1000 and 500Hz Lora have LQ issues due to having 4-8 pilots in the air + half a dozen other pilots who left their radios on and at 1W output spattering all over the band 😅 Each active TX drops average LQ by a little over 1%, although you tend to see it more in short bursts instead of the LQ staying reduced.
We mainly fly whoops and it's very clear that D500 is superior inside with 4 pilots up. Anyone running 500hz can drop down to around 85 LQ while D500 stays at 100 LQ.
CR and droneracers, sweet! :) I'm a big advocate for 250hz. The difference between 250 and 500 is 2ms. But you getting very consistent packet rate, pretty much long range capabilities no matter how big the track is, and how many pilots you flying with. And some room for messed up antennas. Consistency matters a lot :)
Thank you that is really helpful. Big thanks to Dan, Dan and Joshy as well. I have never tuned a quad in my life properly so I could definitely do with catching up with some videos.
WauW maHn, what speed those fresh lads flew at. Sick sick reflexes, damn 😮 Top nice 2 see U help em' Chris, I love it I fly your 5.5" EVO frame with your 2207 Supernova's (❤ em'), but holy moly, not at all at those speeds!! Loving the hobby, thanks for everything Chris, super nice U helping out those fresh UK Race Stars - Good luck in China at the races U guys, everyone: takeCare yeaH
Another factor is BF RC smoothing setting, General 500 or 1000 RCLink preset for racing has more jagged RCcommand signal, but 5 or 0 RCsoomthing setting is less. People who want to use F1000 should set RCsoomthing to 0 or 5, for my advice :)
@@Sugar_K f500 feels best for me too, most consistent and very good response time. (paired with elrs 500hz rc_link preset.) being said, i keep my feedforward at only .1, it feels best for me used with air65 race.(bf 4.5.1, bluejay 0.21 48khz, elrs 3.5.2) f1000 feels like mouse accelerator is clipping 😀 on d500 you get better lq but also can feel more latency
f500 is what I prefer.. f1000 lacks resolution at the 10bit rate , in small stick inputs you are not getting ANY FF which is not ideal in a racing quad, 11bit is coming though and may make it relevant with 2x the stick data resolution.

I can certainly believe that when flying inside you have plenty of signal strength but it's intereference that's the killer.
Top notch comment
Great to see a vlog of the bunch I fly so often with from yourself Chris :) lets go team Toko!

Interesting… We’ll have to try that.
PLEASE do these same tests for bando flying.
was cool to see open field results but we need those concrete wall results!
Great work Chris! And great video format! (half vlog and half technical)
Awesome stuff! Thanks guys!
Finally! Chris is coming to the datk side! Help us racers out.
Nice different style of video and super helpful practical testing to get the best results!

Great video! I wonder how it would look on gemini f1000 or the new gemini fsk1000?
Awesome , best of luck.
You should have done all the tests with 5-6 idle quads and radios to simulate a worse noise environment. 😅
Let's GO!

The lag of PT3 based rc_smoothing causes this problem, or you can see the F1000 LQ suddenly drop down.
Thanks 👍
hahah joshy and dan boy made it in omg hahahah
There might be less gaps with lora but what is the baseline increase in latency with lora vs flrc?
Avg sticks to FC latency: F1000=1.609ms, F500=2.109ms, 500Hz=3.227ms, D500=3.720ms, 250Hz=6.020ms
