joshua2585 too bad they never learned jiujitsu. They learned judo, its just that they call it jiujitsu bc when they learned judo, it was still called kano jiujitsu. But jiujitsu and bjj are two entirely different martial arts (jiujitsu they still teach you some strikes and the ground fight is not emphasized), and they in fact invented bjj.

It is amazing the way he analizes each tachnique and passes his knowledge to all of us.
PD: Sorry for my english. Still studing it.

What I love about Rener is you truly feel and visualize his passion for the art. He is able to give you direction as well as thought process involved to complete technique. Which in my opinion g8ves the individual the thought process to be able to adapt the technique to their body type and competence. As a white belt I feel I am learning better hearing the principal rather than step by step directions. Love this community

The rener/university way of teaching, as opposed to the old school gracie barra, like carlos or my old coach lucio lagarto, really divided folks, ive seen both and i have to say rener is a hell of a teacher, his breakdown and explanation is second to none.

Rener, bro. I drove to Seattle from Dallas, TX for work and were on our way back and we got stuck in Fort Collins. While driving in the Company van up here I seen a sign that said Gracie Jiu jitsu & I immediately looked it up & flipped out that it was your gym. I'm seriously thinking about moving it out here just to train with you guys. I wanted to check it out but it said not open until 4pm and we should already be on our way to Dallas by then.

If you place your wrist underneath to set up to trap his hand, do you not give him one of your bases ? Surely if he bridged to the same side of the hand he’s grabbed, you’d have nothing to post on? I’m a beginner, just wanted to understand this fully 👍🏼 love the videos

I forgot who said it, but I heard the "cross choke", as Rener calls it, is actually called the "cobra strike". I don't know. The guy who calls it that is a well-known Jiu-Jitsu black belt who's got a lot of stuff on youtube. He sometimes has a rhino patch on the back of his gi, kind of an older white guy. Some people out there might know who I'm talking about.

So it’s the combination of the gi and the forearms on the top of neck that actually close the choke not the actual fabric of the lapel?
