India is a democracy and has naturally affinity to all Democracies including western countries and Japan , Taiwan, Philippines. Also India is not a country that will be scared or Intimidated by Superpowers- it likes to follow what is best for Indian interests. Indians speak very openly and don’t hesitate to say what they feel is the right thing to say. India also encourages the ASEAN to be bold and follow a policy of self confidence and calling a spade a spade. We have tested the mettle of Chinese on Himalayas and they don’t scare us anymore- at the same time there is no need to fight at heights of Himalayas as it is of no material consequence. Indian defence is pretty good and getting industrialised and integrated with west.

I think Taiwan and Indians need to be more in touch with each other because some comments I heard were western impressions of India which are not necessary true. For example while Caste System is more of a political handle used by some failed politicians, in business and practical walks of life it has no place at all as Indians seamlessly integrate with each other on the basis of individual merits and not any other baggage. On the manufacturing comment, India is not weak because it has a strong automotive, pharmaceutical , consumer goods, steel , cement etc and it has a good work force, excellent managerial and entrepreneurial skills and ethos but it does not indulge in the kind of tactics China Communist Party uses to artificially compete by giving free of cost land, funds, stolen IP from west and captive labour. After all why do these “competitive” Chinese manufacturers do not have open accounting standards like the west has . India follows open accounting standards. Just like the west has been loosing to predatory manufacturing practices so have India been losing. However it has not lost to the extent west has lost and it is still very well Indigenously manufacturing most goods. So my analysis is India will be competitive in some manufacturing sectors but increasingly if the government keeps on providing level playing field then Indian manufacturing industry is as good as any other in the world. Historically India’s share of GDP has been between 20-30% around 1000 years ago. At the time of Independence in 1947 it was around 4% but shrank to 2 % around 1990 because of socialist policies. Since the there has been a reforms and we are back to 4% now and growing ….
Why would India want to stick to US. India is developing its country to be self sufficient and to be a superpower. Its already 1 of the 4 great powers in this world right now.

India just had lost decade ie. 2004-2014 Politicians were so much embroiled in internal matters (read scam & overall untrustworthyness of central government) but at same time just how PRC was growing with 10-15% there was one state ie Gujrat having same growth numbers as china's that headed by then CM of state & Present PM of country modi but first term was taken in cleaning the old mess be it financial inclusion, GST reform, Bank NPAs,tackling extreme poverty, general bureaucratic lethargy & somewhat liberalisation of PSU this term got in absorbing covid, impact of Uk-Ru war & serving golgappa to chinese in Himalayas hope in next 10 we would be able to grow at touching 10s so that gap could be narrower.. that can only happen if government opens up economy more by liberalizing labour laws, push for more MSMEs & control inflation... historical also before colonization-invasions Chinese & Indian civilization were relatively same economically level than only we could stop china for harrassing others..
By the way India and rest of Asia including China have shared civilisational links that many East Asian countries still cherish but some communist countries want to hide. Some earlier version of Hinduism ( aka the temples in Japan have almost similar deities -just the name are different) Cambodia, Indonesia, Brunei, Sumatra and many have Hindu cultures. Buddhism spread out from India. Many Chinese travellers visited India. Martial arts of China have been initiated by a teacher from Kerela in India. There are so many caves in China with paintings of Indian gods and goddesses. There is a lot there which has been just buried up by political agenda.
General people preference for products is different in India than those of other markets, Japanese automobile companies are doing good in india ford was doing good but they stop updates of their car cause losses, now they are reconsidering to built cars in India as their factory is profitable in India. Usually companies hire an outsider as head in India who don't know about Indian market and loss all their money. You can't sell anything to Indians by showing the shine of your products.

Maybe think we are neutral in case of china but we are not, the general people perception affects the foreign policy of India and people are not happy with china we are trying to reduce our trade ties with china so that decoupling become easy for our economy. Taiwan should also decouple themself from chinese economy.
The discussion was mostly on economy and trade ,business, supply chain etc. Still the US or the world doesn't understand china correctly. As per me the Chinese have neither the capability or mindset for a direct conflict with anybody even if that enemy is 1/3 rd of its own strength. It prefers the secret way unknown ways, not so straight forward ways to get results. For example timings, bullying, show of strength are more important in achieving their goals than actual conflicts. I personally feel they may like to put India down-subdue them- a future competitor first than immediately annexing Taiwan a potential asset . For this they may try the religious card, ethnic card ideological card etc which has better potential of winning. But unlike the Nehru days Modi is not self centered goes by expert's opinion in the concerned field/subject rather than an egoistic approach of I am the boss and I am always right attitude.
it hurt me a lot when Taiwanese minister openly talked racist comment on Indian labour force that were requested by Taiwan's government but later they said they will only allow North East Indian cause other people don't look like tiwanese . But they want to support from Indian Government against China how ironic is this, if you gonna hit our people I will strongly condemn on every platform from possible. At least try to be open hearted on administrative level how do you guys do your geopolitics.

As they say that India is the place called graveyard for foreign investors with India’s ambition to become self reliant. Foreign companies may go to India and invest billions of dollars but they have to rename the brand name and sacrifice the entities to Indian-origin ownerships.
