And when we bought this house, the heating is a warm air system, we carried on having the same heating system. The boiler we have is quite an old one, almost the same age of this house. We live in this house for 25 years. We have the boiler service yearly and the boiler is still working perfect. So people should not avoid not having it service even they think their boiler is fairly new. Imagine the dust that collected around the fan inside. It's just like car, computer, a year can have a dust bunny living inside. Just my 2 pennies worth.
Self cooking average 6-8X saving compare outing serve food due to heavy labor cost. Always look for smaller room/hse to make gas charges saving for room warming or water boiler.. Locals mostly using public transp and smaller cap vehicle. For weekend touring travel
If compare shopping in supermarket which definitely cheaper than in HK, but don't forget all the rest ie TV licence fee, water, electrical n gas bill, council tax etc. The killing cos to of transportation if u only got one car in n UK, also if it do no to owe a house, u will be okay if u earn the same amount as in HK after tax, if not then God bless you la.
It's cheaper in Manchester! Then living down south! Kids costs are cheaper as not many extracurricular activities. School uniforms are much more expensive for secondary schools in UK! Secondary schools have school trips abroad that are very expensive. Bus services to school can be very expensive!

There is a grammar school in Bury but its really an independent fee school, heard its not bad though. There is good area and bad area in Bury, I know this sounds cliche but for this kind of off the city older town, you will need to pick your area. Also another point to consider is, if you are going to work in Manchester, it's going to take sometimes for the travel.

Totally agree, and this safes your family from icy cold night if the boiler breaks down. I think your 2 pennies can save thousands.

唐人街的自助餐很平，時不時去吃一次思鄉
走咗就咪思鄉，往新的生活走。
生活開支家家唔同，而且將英国同香港的生活洗費作比較係不切实際。我建議將英國的入息与家庭洗費作比較。如果你的入息係高過洗費，good on you. 如果洗費高過入息，你就要計吓已有的積蓄可以維持幾耐嘞。到積蓄用完之後点算?

英國煤氣比法國平好多，我們三人家庭一年煤氣費約2600歐元（煮菜 暖氣）電800欧元 水360歐元 地稅約1200欧元 近年取消了居住税400歐元。好似在法國 買菜比英國貴一點點。
