Remember the good old days? If your friend didn’t have one for you to hear or if there wasn’t a demo unit out, you’d have to go by the marketing literature or the sales counter pitch to figure out what a pedal might do. Sometimes you got something magic. Sometimes a magic terd. 😂
Freeze is such a cool effect. Great pedal, MXR! I know the freeze options in the H9, DD-500 and the Specular Tempus and all are a bit different, so it's always exciting to see new variations on the theme.

Disilluminates! You can use "fade" just like sound (a lighting engineer has faders on his desk, just like the audio desk), or you can use "dim" (those rotary light switches you may have in your home to adjust the light level are called dimmer switches). So, the LED fades, or it dims.
This pedal could be cool for playing live in an improvisational or jam band-ish setting. For swells I usually use a volume pedal or the EHX Attack Decay. Cheers!
I prefer the TC Infinite. It has an effects loop so you can add an octave and reverb that just effects the freeze to really tailor the sound without doing the 2 amp thing. The presets are great also.
I skipped to where the sounds start and enjoyed the demos a lot, hearing how it sounds and works without fluff. As an alternative to reverb with everything at noon seems good. The price of this is lower than guitar-to-synth alternatives making it quite tempting.
That's a pretty cool pedal I like the way it makes you jerk around like you're on on amusement ride like a real jerky twister or the one ride called The Octopus they have at the small carnivals plus you don't have to drive to the amusement park of the carnival so you can just get one of these pedals and sit in a chair and let it flip you around chaotically cool
I think it might be the paint. I have the Wampler Ego 76 and at different ANGLES to the light, it looks very different. Sparkly and whatnot. Color changes.
How fast does it track? Can you play a single note line relatively fast and that triggers a new layer everytime? Every demo so far plays big chords in an ambient way which makes sense but nobody has tried to play an actual melody with this.
The next evolution of the Freeze... but more "special"... though does it do a Mimic sort of thing for my Randy Rhoads sound to go with my pretty poke-a-dot MXR Randy Rhoads Dist + pedal? HOLY MR. CROWLEY... I think I need another pedal... how does this keep happening? I'm selling my Freeze pedal and getting this thing! Thank you... again... for the G.A.S. my friend! Like Bond... James Bond... When you play with speeded up video, it offers the illusion of that sped up sound is being the effect. I eventually gave up and stopped the video. MXR just lost a potential sale. A complete waste of time.
It you can clearly see where and why I sped up the video. The whole rest of that video is normal… you didn’t waste your time, you missed out on some great sounds and solid demonstration. You even wrote that you know it’s sped up, so where exactly is the problem?

This MXR Layers pedal might be cool paired with a Strymon Cloudburst for some really interesting and funky ambient music

The EHX Superego+ can do layers and effects and automatic and gliss. Much more than that of the Freeze.

I love the music you made from this pedal. My problem is it is so far above my pay grade. But it is sounds great.
