      Let’s talk seriously now: Good bells are made of what is called bell bronze (an alloy of several metals, look it up). If you have such a bell, preferably large, you can sell it for a very nice price, which will allow you to buy a decent guitar + amp

    I've gotten a similar bell sound by turning up the distortion and volume and hitting it lightly right at the top of the neck by the headstock. Gave a sound close to the sound at the beginning of hells bells. I actually do it sometimes when I play it.

    Works on the 5th fret too. Might work at some other frets as well where you would normally get a natural harmonic, need to test that
    Edit - example, frets 3, 4 and 9.

    Also works with the E and B strings, and use your finger to cross the E over the B at the 12th fret. This version (E and B at 12th) sounds more like a ship’s line clanging into the metal mast.

      @@dev-pl6fq but this would also cause cross friction on the nut (and bridge if it's not electric) and tension on the tuning pegs in addition to tension on the strings. probably fine to try a couple times but to practice/use this technique a lot idk, seems like unnecessary wear and tear.

      Bruh, guitar strings are ten bucks or fifteen bucks. The guitar is built for tension. Your neck has tension on it all the time as does the nut and the tuners… especially the tuners.
      I mean… I’m not gonna do this because it’s kind of a gimmick sound and not all that useful but it could be fun for a few notes.
      But some of you guys are so scared of breaking some strings that I can’t see how you possibly even play the guitar. It’s meant to be played. Guitars get beat up. Don’t be scared to get in there!

    Michael Schenker did this on the intro to Lost Horizons ( Courvosier Concerto).. He did it lower on the neck and it sounded phenomenal

      I think he just rolls the low strings off the edge of the fretboard for that intro.

      That's right. And he also does it in a mid 70s UFO song, it can be heard on the background. I can't remember the name of the song, if I do I'll update my comment. He was truly ahead of his time.

    Old school trick I learned in the 60s is to just cross the d over a with my pick hand an just hold it down at fret 7 and tap with pick hand to simulate a snare drum. I have seen others do this as well.

    Also move the pick up and down the neck and you can get bells of all different pitches too.

    I remember Michael Schenker bending 3 strings at the same time, to get a bell sound.
    That's how he did the bell sounds, in the beginning of Save Yourself.

    Well there is another method. You need to "spread" two strings above the pickups (or 7th fret. Try different positions) with small (~1,5cm) piece of match or toothpick. There you go.
