I've read a handful of her books, some good, some meh, but she's always a solid writer imo. My favorite so far is The Haunting of Leigh Harker which is almost kind of literary horror and more slow, low-action, and character-focused. Since she's known for her haunted house books, it's nice to see her branching out into different settings with From Below. She also has a sci-fi horror (Parasite), the Voices in the Snow series which is dystopian, and a wilderness horror called Hunted. From what I've heard, Craven Manor and Haunting of Ashburn House are her most popular haunted house books. Im excited to read From Below and The Folcroft Ghosts, which I believe is a YA Hansel & Gretel retelling.
I have this book and somehow I still haven’t read it. I’m going to very soon! I have high hopes it will be anxiety inducing and my favorite from her. I agree we shouldn’t be f!#$ing with the deep sea. I’m just starting Whalefall now and hoping for a similar effect. I’ve only read Hunted, Dead Lake and Dead of Winter from Darcy Coates so far. I gave both Hunted and Dead of Winter 4 ⭐️
I've heard of Whalefall and was interested in it because of that title (while I hate the ocean, I found the concept of whalefall in nature to be quite lovely). Perhaps I'll check that one out too... And yeah I need to read all those by Coates. I've heard really good things about the Carrow Haunt as well
Dead Silence is horror sci-fi about ghost spaceship, scary but really interesting, at least the reader get a proper explanation in the end. Loved it last fall
Finished the book. Great, satisfying read and good character development. Agree it was refreshing ( and surprising) that no one died. My heart is still racing. Great book to pass the time waiting for Hurricane Idalia to make landfall.
Really glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! And best of luck with the hurricane. Many of my coworkers are in Tampa and so far they are holding up ok there.
Am about halfway through this book. Just had to stop to say-great, immersive, scary read! Also like learning more in-depth about the hazards and mechanics of diving. Really enjoying this. Thanks for the recommendation.
I also do not f*ck with the ocean. You’re a wise fella ;-). Gonna absolutely add this one to my wish list, sounds right up my street! Great review, Nick 👍
@@anotherbooktubechannel pure unadulterated batshit ridiculousness. Uber-trash and great fun! I’ve not seen the film - I don’t watch sharky things as they legit terrify me visually - but I’ve heard that there are a few differences between book and film, and that the book is generally more ridiculous! It’s a really quick read, it’s got a good fast pace to it.
@@alex_unabridged nice I'll definitely check that out then. The movie is not scary AT ALL. It's much more of a big dumb action movie than anything. Not great, could have been a lot campier. But fun enough
I just finished Gallows Hill and it was the CREEPIEST book I have ever read. Very atmospheric and eerie! That said, I'm off to the library to pick up this one!

I've heard Leigh Harker as a recommendation a few times, definitely seems to be a favorite. I look forward to checking it out hopefully soon

I was also obsessed with "From Below"!!! 🌊
I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as me!

Dead Silence has been on my radar for a while, it's one I definitely want to read for that premise. Thanks for the suggestion!

👐🏻 awesome! Glad you're enjoying it!
Loved your review, I have been on the fence about this one. I’ve now added it to my pile. I loved Hunted by Darcy Coates.
Thanks! I have to read that one and, well, everything else by her. I was surprised to find how prolific she's been!

Thanks! I just watched the movie The Meg last night and the whole time I was like "See? SEE? This is what happens when you f*** with the ocean!" Lol
@@anotherbooktubechannel lol, I read The Meg a few weeks ago and had the same thought!
@@alex_unabridged how was the book, I kinda wanna read it now

Just about to start my first book of hers, gotta choice between this one and Gallows Hill… any advice?
I've only read this one so can't comment on her other stuff, but I definitely recommend this one!

Check out SPHERE BOOK.
I read Sphere a looooooong time ago. I remember enjoying it though I don't recall much more detail about it
