Originally Obi-wan had a theme, but it just became the force theme because George liked it so much.
Hello there. Fantastic actor
In a new hope, the force theme was obi wan’s theme. But JW didn’t know there would be a sequel, so, since I’m every scene obi wan was either using or talking about the force, the theme was repurposed as the force theme. Therefore, we hear Luke sort of “inherit” the force theme as he becomes and Jedi and Luke’s theme is used to represent his character while the force theme shows him growing as a Jedi. Then things get interesting because when John Williams had to score the prequels, if he used the force theme for every Jedi, it’d basically never stop playing. So none of the Jedi in the prequels have themes except for anakin and yoda (and it can be debated that qui gon has one). Then things get interesting further when we make it to revenge of the sith. We start hearing the force theme representing obi wan again, seemingly out of nowhere. But, then order 66 occurs and the only remaining Jedi (within the film) are obi wan and yoda. Yoda already has a theme of his own, and so obi wan “inherits” the force theme, so that in anh he can begin to pass it on to Luke. Additionally, Kevin Kiner never wrote obi wan a theme, even though he gave other prequel characters like Padmè and plo koon their own themes. So obi wan has never had a musical identity other than the force, and you could argue that he has put all of his identity into the other characters with themes like anakin and yoda and qui gon and the force
itself. It’s amazing that he finally has his own theme and it could be that we’re finally going to see obi wan’s personal identity in Kenobi. All of this is just extrapolation I guess, but it’s cool to examine the musical narrative.
I love your analysis. Great comment!
@@roguestar8 Thanks, I appreciate it!
He did have a theme.. tales of a Jedi knight/learn about the force
its not carrying his name but it plays in the master scene where he first talks to luke and tells him about the force and what little he’s ready to know about his own past with his lost father
