Hi mick you show me where to find the setup icon on a 2015 Toyota harrier, that doesn't have it on the side of the radio. I would like to change the function from Chinese to English.
Depending on your navigation model - it may not have an English function. Obviously the navigation set up/dash area does not look like the one in the video I made where the "Set Up" button was on the left.

Can this be done for older Toyota AV Nav stations? I have a 2009 model. The design of the menus is about the same, but I can't find the language setting.

Hello Mick. can you please advise me what should be done to change language to english on a Premium advanced package year 2014? When i click on the setup nothing appears and a message in japanese appear.the only thing i can understand in it is SD card. But I cant see any sd card inserted into it. Is there any way I can downlaod the data and put it on a card or is this card sold anywhere? It has the JBL head unit

Hi Mick, I got a packet today from USS. I got microSD HC1 card in it along with papers for the car. Is this the SD card I must use? I used an sd adapter and inserted in slot behind the screen but nothing happens when i click setup. Instead i think thats the SD slot for music. You know where i should insert the toyota sd card?
Without out looking directly at car (Harrier) I can't say. I'm out of Japan for a while so I don't have access to one just now.

Depends on the Navi model...look for the settings mode (設定) then the language mode 言葉. Thanks.
Am out here in Jamaica where some on the car dealers have imported the 2014 harrier. I noticed though, that the navigation system/display that is seen in the video here is different. Questions: can these system change language settings just like the one in the video? And do we have to get radio expanders for these versions?

The in dash info - no not that I know of. Not like Mercedes or BMW allows....

tumur ganbat Navi - it may have an English speaking option but full English option will not be available. Sorry not familiar with that issue - not sure what you can do there.

You need to order direct from a Toyota dealer (in Japan).

Andre Spence If it has the language option in the menu it will change to English speaking and show some English on the menu, screen etc - but it will not be 100% English - that is it will still require the user to be able to read kanji (Chinese Characters used in Japanese language). Note-the mapping is also for Japan only - as far as I know the mapping will not show up in any other country. Thanks, Mick.

I doubt if that model has the English capable navi. If it was imported from Japan the navigation will not work outside of Japan.

Talk to the company that imported it - they should have the Japanese dereg paper copy that has the details needed to find parts in Japan (if available).

May not have an English option. The English option was only introduced to the Toyota Harrier and some other Toyota models in 2014 (or there abouts). Having no English option is standard.

Monica - thanks for the question but I am sure that that year did not have an English capable navigation. To the point Honda Fit's still made in Japan have no English unless requested from new and even then the English is minimal.

It most likely has no English option. Most Japanese cars made for Japan do not have English options. In the last few years Toyota has started to offer it in some navigation systems...but even then you still need to be able to read/understand Japanese to a point to use the system.

Only Map or all Menu?
The Syste doe snot change to 100% English - the voice guidance changes and some items on the map and menu will show up in English but to enter addresses you will still need to be able to read Japanese. Note: The navigation system will work in Japan only. Regards, Mick.
