I’ve been waiting for this video. A 5mm sound post? That’s small. Thanks! 😎🌞✌️🎻
Probably it will be even thinner!!! Thank you!
Hello, maestro. Thanks for the content
Thank you for watching William!
Hello!! You are such an inspiration to me :) I'm currently trying to watch all of your videos! I go to an art high school in America but in the next couple of years I am hoping to maybe learn instrument repair skills and make it my career. Your videos are so helpful!
Thank you so much for your kind words! All the best with your studies!
I'm happy to get home from work to find a new video in the series! I wonder, does the narrow shape of the body still require a bass bar, as the material is less prone to instability (I assume)? Of course, perhaps there is a different dimension for a bass bar in an instrument so small. It might be quite crowded inside!
Hi Meghann! That is a good question. I think that in the long term the top of the instrument would bent inwards on the side of the G string if there is no bar. The tension of the strings is high and although it is pretty narrow, I don't think that it can manage the pressure on the long term.
@@maestrokimon Thank you for your reply! I've seen pochettes of different size and body style in the collection of musical instruments in Vienna in the Hofburg, but I have no idea as to their inner workings. I also don't know if these instruments had metal strings or gut strings, or what tuning they had. I look forward to the rest of this project and your findings! By the way, that was indeed me on Facebook! For some reason, my replies were marked as spam.
Very informative, as always.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Love your channel it keeps me from doing sutch work! I'm heavy handed and I can't seem to get my tools sharp enough. However I would really love to see you do an old school guitar, ebony tailpiece floating bridge sort of like a DeAngelo the old master from New York but with your skills in it! It's a thought.
Good to hear that you like my videos! I'm sorry but I don't make guitars!
Great video, Maestro! One question: Do you have any experience using the circular cutters to start cutting the f holes? Do you use a round dowel with sand paper or something like this to end up with nice round ends without this tool?
No, i do't use circular cutters. I finish everything with round and oval files.
I wonder how are you going to get the sound-post in? Hope there is enough room.
I have done it in the past once, also in 1/8 and 1/16 violins, it won't be easy!
Where do you get the pic ? By the way I am big fan
The museum in Paris sent them to me.
What is the difference in sound between a standard violin and a pochette?
The pochette has a much smaller sound as the body is so narrow. It sounds a bit like a 1/8 violin.
hello
Hi!
