When we talk of freedom we are speaking of a platform where trust, and honesty exists, so that social consciousness can arise to tackle any hidden agenda of hatred and oppression.
Creating restrictions only compounds the notion that people are not smart about their choices and therefore need to be restricted. When you have the freedom to speak your mind there is a learning that evolves in the social consciousness which makes for a better world diverse yet united, or you get a uniform society where everyone repeats the rhetoric of the person in power. If you need to see the impact of restrictions you should compare India and China in the eighties and nineties..
I second Gupta’s views because it takes courage to trust than to restrict just because things could go wrong.. just talk to a child who has experienced freedom of speech and one who hasn’t.. you’ll without a doubt second Gupta.

Freedom of speech is a fundamental right in many societies, but it's not absolute. Reasonable restrictions may be placed on speech to prevent harm, such as incitement to violence, hate speech, or defamation. Balancing freedom of speech with other societal interests is often a complex and ongoing challenge.

Reading the comments, evidently people are still confused what free speech is.
To clear things up a bit, Free Speech is a constitutionally guaranteed right where the govt has NO power to limit or restrict what people say. Least of all to jail them for speaking their mind.
This is different from cancelling where people ostracize/condemn their peers for trash talk(whatever it be). How different? For the simple reason, people cannot jail people.

Great format. Great hosting and arguments Faye. Apar was so disappointing, I don't know how the audience turned at the end. Maybe it was the use of the word USA. 😂

Indian policy debate, why refer to the U S of America Constitution. Irrelevant reference.
