Thanks for your help. I Have ordered a 2024 Rubicon X at $500 over invoice. I contacted the dealer and told them I was joining Tread Lightly. They are now giving me that price.
I got my 2020 Wrangler in May 2020. MSRP was 56k. I got it for 46k. My advice is to buy during the worst of times during a global pandemic when the whole auto industry is reeling. It really works. Also, dealers usually pay 750-1k less than invoice, more if it's a hard to sell model.
What you are missing are the factory incentives. Right now in Canada Jeep offers 5% (they vary over the year from 5% to 7.5% to 10% at the year end usually).....which lowers the dealer invoice price by 5% etc. There is also a thing dealers get called Hold Back. That is generally 3-5% of the invoice price. Most sales people don't even know about that. It is an offset from FCA to cover inventory carrying cost. With a factory order; that hold back goes directly into the dealers pocket. There is no carrying cost. What I am getting at is that even if a dealer shows you a piece of paper that show "the invoice cost" there is money behind the scene. A dealer doesn't lose money to sell a car. That just doesn't make sense. My statements are true. I was a general manager of a dealership for 15+ years. What you really need to do is find out what the incentives are from FCA before you start negotiating. These incentive get deducted from the invoice. You will quickly find dealers less likely to show you an invoice. You will still get sales people telling you they are losing money. They will probably believe this only because the dealership management doesn't let the sales people know about the back end money from FCA. I do feel sorry for consumers because they don't really stand a chance. The best deal is always pitting 3 or 4 dealerships against each other. My final advice is whatever you pay is a good deal to you. Dealers make between $1,200 to $2,000 at the top end. That is a fair profit for the amount overhead they have. Buy your Jeep and love it for what it is!
Thanks for this information! My husband and I found a dealership near Philly, PA that gave us a 5% under invoice, plus 1% Tread Lightly deal. Kate at Courtesy Jeep in Coatesville was really easy to work with! Highly recommend working with Kate if you're anywhere near Philly! Our new Sahara should be in by early May, can't wait!!
@@jpl8085 Hi, I emailed her (Kate Morris) first to say I had read she had great deals on Jeeps. (You could also call her.) She explained the process and that how if you order a car it doesn't cost the dealership any money like cars that are already on their lot, but they get a financial kickback from Jeep once the car is delivered. Then you can send her your build. She'll send you back a breakdown of the MSRP, Factory Wholesale Price and their below FWP price plus $1400 destination charge. You'll still be under FWP. You can tell her if you want to lease (4 door Jeeps lease really well) or buy, what payment you'd like to be at and she'll tell you how much down you need. She'll give you some payment numbers but ultimately you'll finalize that when the car comes in. We lease ours and originally thought we'd be at 48mos for the second Freedom Jeep, but there was a better program for the same payment at 39mos. We also signed up for the $100 Tread Lightly membership mentioned in the video above. That saves you another 1%/$400+-. You'll need to do that a few weeks before you car comes in. Both of our Jeeps came in at around 4 weeks from when we ordered them. You can also check the status with Jeep through their Chat portal. Kate will give you your order and VIN numbers to do that. Once your car arrives they have it all prepped and cleaned for you. You'll do some paperwork before going to pick it up and just a little more there, no negotiating, no salesperson going back and forth wit the manager, just sign and drive! If you have a used car to trade in they are at a premium right now and you can get top $$$. We detailed our 2011 Handa Pilot for $150 and I think we got at least $500 back because it looked to good inside and out. Hope all of this helps, let me know if you have any more questions.
@@jpl8085 Great! I texted her to let her know you might reach out. Kate is so nice and easy to deal with. The dealership facility is a little small, but that's not really important if you're getting the Jeep you want at a great price. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.
Yeah, what he said. Oh, btw...you went kinda quick on one subject. How on earth did you negotiate on invoice pricing and not msrp...I'd be very curious to know

Hey, great video.. I’m in the market for a new wrangler and went to the site of the auto dealership you mentioned... they still have standard msrp pricing. So my question is, how did you negotiate 7% off invoice?!?
Awesome Video! Thank you so much for this. Literally just got off the phone with one of the dealers that you had flagged on your map. 6% below invoice for a "Rubicon"! Thank you for what you do!!
Great "Ideal" purchase Brad, congratulations on your new purchase. Though, the issue is ordering heated seats, then expecting to buy aftermarket seats, and installing them. Without the Heated or cooling feature is bad, adding to it is worse. The main issue is the aftermarket seats don't have the Air Bag Safety System weight sensors, and this would cause the air bag safety system light stay on, and may cause air bag failure. Never mind not being able to sell in future because you thru away, or cut the wire hardness below. Just reupholster them, or change them at the dealership, to maintain a warranty, for the leather.
I got my 2019 Sport S 2 door with the polar package new in Feb 2020. Since it was a 2019 left over I got all the good stuff for $33k , the newer 2020 models were around $36k. So I figured I saved $3k not a bad deal I suppose.
Invoice isn't what the dealer pays. They have a "pull back" price, which is lower then invoice. Anytime, a dealer shows you an invoice, it's not their true price. It's always around $500 or more lower.
@2:10 "Safety Group? Yeah, why not?" But you'd already opted for the Advanced Safety Group, which requires the Safety Group. You clicked the Safety Group off to make it seem as if it was a separately selectable option. That was odd.

Does this still work now with the shortage of cars? I am considering a Sahara Altitude right now and would love to save some money on it.
I am buying one just like yours no leather seat but they won’t reduce the price 61,800 but it don’t have leather and I love leather how can I get the real leather

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. So if I buy a vehicle out of state (e.g. 7% in Idaho), how do you get it registered in your home state? Shipping costs to your home state may outweigh the benefits?
I'm sure he drove it back, and the dealership can register the car in a different state.
You can register it in your state and you can also pay the taxes at that time or have the dealer roll that into price.
Thanks for sharing. I got an awesome deal on my Rubicon from Petersen Jeep in Idaho. No dealers in CO were even close.
Is there a website like this for ford f150's?!
I'm in the market for a 2021 Jeep 392..this was very helpful and to the point info! Thank you!!! Just one question, when you contact the nationwide dealers, what do you actually tell them?
I reached out to Kate at Courtesy Jeep in Pa based on the map of below invoice dealers. I emailed her and just said "I heard you make great deals on Jeeps..." she explained how and why and it just went from there.
Did they ship the car to you or did you have to pick it up?
Your idealcar "hack" buying car strategies signup link dont work?
You rock, im doing this right now!! :D
Do you mean below msrp or invoice? Those are very different things
Thanks for the video, it's really helpful. Was the car delivery from Idaho part of the deal or did you use a third party service?
I have the same question
Thanks man your a huge help
so how did find out what the invoice price was??
You guys can just type whatever car brand you want like Jeep, Ford, or Chevy then build and price
Invoice is not what the dealer pays
Can you please share the website here?
Did you take the wrap of your jeep
Me: sees Brad customizing a Jeep on their website
Also me: *swipes out of RUclips even tho I have a home button goes to google chrome even tho I have safari and opens Jeep’s website and tries every thing till that one part that doesn’t make no sense then leaves and continues the video knowing I am just a young child*
So did he get it delivered or go and pick it up?
Super helpful! Thx!
Ok great. So what was the final price?
Right?
I didn’t even have to do any of that. I showed up, said no way I was gonna pay their quote, asked for 8k off, dude said no way, ended up getting 4K off when I asked them to give me the keys to my trade in back.
Edit: also, this was with a $44,900 Willys model.
I am gonna need you to negotiate for me.
