@@bibililla9120 I am using wide packing tape and stick the bezels to it. you can use any pressed flower that is 100% dry and fits in the bezel. If it is big, it can be cut to fit. You can use those for nails or any dried flower.

Thanks for the post. I'm just starting in with dried flowers. Big lesson I leaned after my first attempt, arrange Before you poor. It's doesn't work so well just winging it. I find I need to have a pretty good idea for each bezel, otherwise I'm just wasting time and resin.

All pressed flowers will eventually fade. However there are things you can do to increase the length of time for the colour retention. The first is to start with a pressed flower that has retained the most colour possible. You want to store the pressed flowers sealed from moisture/humidity and in a dark spot (box, etc.). In this case, since the flower is sealed in resin, humidity won’t be a problem. Wearing the piece won’t be a problem, but when not worn, the piece should be stored away from direct sunlight.

You can do that, but you will should seal the paper, or use a coated paper, or the resin will soak into it and may not do it evenly so that it leaves spots on your paper. Also, something to keep in mind is that what the light can't reach, it can't cure. The top will cure, but you will need to flip over your bezel or mold and cure the other side well.

Can I use open bezels on a silicone mat for temporary backing or do I need to use the tape method?
As long as the silicone mat will stick to the edges of the bezel so the resin won't leak out, it would be fine. I have not tried it. The goal is to seal the back to hold the resin in place until it can cure.

You cannot over cure the resin, however, pressed flowers are sensitive to UV light so do not use the light any more than you have to to cure the resin. It would take a lot, but too much UV light can cause the flowers to fade.

If yes then how is I done ?
Sometimes there is residue left behind by the tape. I recommend bezel tape as it leaves the least amount of residue compared to other tapes I have tried. It is important to clean off this residue before continuing. This can be done by using cooking oil and gently scraping the sticking residue off. Some people also use warm soapy water. Once that is cleaned off, you place a top coat of UV resin and then there is no need to polish.

do all types of resin mixture can be cured using a UV light? How about if I use a regular resin mixture?
Only UV resin can be cured using a UV light. Other resins are 2-part and cure from the reaction of the two parts being mixed together. These just require time, many times hours, to cure, but will without a light. UV resin usually cures within minutes and will only cure with UV light.

In the video, I used regular, one-sided packing tape. I just folded over the ends to hold it to the table, but so I could remove it when I was finished the top side so I could cure the other side. I have since found that blue bezel tape works better as it leaves less residue to clean off your finished product.
Hii thanks for the tutorial! Is it possible for the flower inside the resin to get altered in any way? I'd like to gift these to my friends so I'd like them to be perfect :)
If the flower is not 100% dry, the resin can react with the moisture and hurt the flower. It is also possible for the flower to mold in the resin later on. If the flower is 100% dry when going into the resin, then it should be fine! Once the resin is cured completely, the flower should not change. Proper care is advised, as with any pressed flower piece, to keep it out of direct sunlight to avoid premature fading of the flower.

I actually got one of these UV lights for Xmas haha! How long approximately do you keep the light on each piece before its dry?
Each UV resin is different and curing times vary based on the strength of your lamp. In this video, I left the light on for 45 seconds each time.
I left it on for 45 seconds each time, but the thickness of the resin to be cured and if any colorant is added may change that.
Do you know if you can cure resin with a 48w light? I'm trying to find supplies for this on amazon and there's a light I think might work but it's 48w :/
That depends on the brand of UV resin you are wanting to cure. Some have different requirements so you will want to check with the particular one you are using/buying. Take note, that epoxy resin will not cure with a light. It must be specifically UV resin to use a light to cure it. For example, the Hand Crafter UV LED Resin I am using in the video lists a couple on the bottle: UV-LED light (6W) takes roughly 1-2 min to cure, UV light (36W) takes roughly 2-4 min. A stronger light may cure it faster, but that is not always beneficial. This also changes if you add inks or mica powders as the light needs more time to penetrate the color and cure the resin, but this is with all UV resins.

Do we have to double layer if the resin is epoxy( the one mixed with Gardner). Because i have seen a video where they spread layer of resin , put a dried flower on top and again put the final resin and dry for 24 hours
You don't need to, however I would still recommend it. It would be terrible to come back in a few hours and find your flowers have shifted or floated to the top, ruining your piece.
Do you put just resin? Or just resin mixed with hardener?
In the video, I'm using UV resin so you just put the resin in and it cures under a UV light in a couple of minutes. You can use 2-part resin that you mix ahead of time, pour in, and then have to wait hours until it cures.
May I ask why you don't let the first resin dry before you put the flower in? Just curious. 💛
Thank you for your question. Curing the flower in the resin anchors it in place. If you don't do this, the flower will float to the top of the next layer. I wanted my flowers to be in the middle of the bezel, not to one side or the other, but that was the look I was going for. If also helps reduce the amount of bubbles you may get under it. Laying a flower on the cured resin and then putting more on top can trap extra air under the flower.

Thank you for your question. Only UV resin is cured by a UV light. Epoxy resin cures by the chemical reaction caused by mixing the two parts together.

Yes. You can embed flowers, feathers, or any other object in UV resin. They only thing you need to remember is that the resin requires UV light or sunlight to cure. What the light can reach, it can’t cure.
Can I use fresh flowers? Or they have to be dry?
The flowers have to be completely dried. The moisture in fresh flowers will react with the resin and cause problems. Fresh flowers will also rot.
do you have to use a uv resin and a uv light for jewelery with flowers?
UV resin is not a requirement, though it does significantly speed up the process compared to epoxy resin. 2-part epoxy can take hours to cure, whereas uv resin just takes a minute or two!
I am in the process of making this same type of jewelry, however my flowers are currently being dried the slow way in books, I haven't experimented with the microwave yet. How long should I let them dry (they've been in for 6 days now)? I am using very small flowers like forget-me-nots, sections of queen anne's lace, small bits of fern, and other tiny buds.
The length of time will depend on your book, the flower, etc. The type of paper used in the book will affect how well it breathes and therefore how long it will take for the flowers to dry. A flower that is dry will feel like wrapping tissue paper and not be flopping when held. If it is still sticky, even in one spot, it is not dry yet. A flower should be 100% dry before putting it in resin.
You can put them in between a paper towel and iron them! That’s what I did. Just be careful when you do it to not burn them. Also don’t drag the iron, just blot them.
I use my Microfleur Microwave flower press. It only takes a few seconds to dry them. I can pick them, dry them, and then put them in my jewelry in just a few minutes.

Is the resin still sticky after that? Because mine is even after putting under the uv , it still leaves some fingerprints when you touch it , wht do u put to make it less tacky
The type of UV resin and the wattage of the lamp need to go together. As with anything, some kinds aren't as good as others. Also, some types of UV resin won't cure completely if the wattage is low, for example, or under an LED lamp. I recommend using the Hand Crafter UV LED Resin and Lamp. Links are in the description.
Try curing in a small clear container of water. Worked for me.
Do you have to use the light?
Thank you for your question. UV resin will not cure without some kind of UV light. Technically, you do not need the light as UV resin will cure in the sunlight. However, using a UV light speeds the curing process and sometimes curing with sunlight can cause the UV resin to turn yellow, depending on the type on UV resin you are using. I would recommend you use the light.
Which part of the tape should be used? The sticky part?
Place the tape on the table/workspace, sticky side up. Then stick the bezel to the tape. It is important the that tape stick to the sides completely because it has to seal all gaps and keep the resin in the bezel. You don't want any leaks. I fold the two ends of the tape under so they stick to the table and holds it still so I can work without the piece moving around.
Hi. For how long did kept the uv light on?
Each time with the light is 60 seconds. It has a one minute timer on it.
Do you use hardener or only resin?
I use UV resin which is just a one part resin that cures using sunlight or a UV light. The resin that uses a hardener is a 2-part (A B) resin and the two parts cause the chemical reaction that cures the resin.
How long do you let it harden with the light
The light I'm using has a timer on it for 90 seconds. I left if for the length of the timer.
Is the packing tape on the sticky side or no?
Packing tape is on the sticky side. There is some cleaning that needs to happen after removing the tape. To lessen the residue left behind by the tape, I would recommend using bezel tape. Link where you can find it is in the video description.
So, I keep having the issue where I lay my pressed flowers in the resin and I get bubbles around/under/in-between flower petals and it leaves.. is there something I'm doing wrong? I've tried putting a thin first layer down and curing before putting the flowers in, so they don't smush against the back of the pendant when I put them in, but that sometimes makes more air bubbles?? I've tried pressing down on the flowers and rolling outwards to try and get the air bubbles out from underneath) in-between the petals but it doesn't always work. It seems like it should be so easy! What am I doing wrong?? Plz help 😭
After you put the first layer down and cure it, are you putting UV resin on top of that before putting your flowers in? Try putting your flowers in at an angle to allow the air to escape as you lay the flower down. You could also try putting a thin layer of UV resin on the potential trouble spot of the flower and curing that before putting your flower in. The gaps between leaves and petals, especially close to the center can be troublesome some times. That is why I always assemble my bezels with the front facing me. I can make sure the front looks good, even if the back gets a little bubble.

Hi I know this video is old, but do you know why I keep getting large bubbles in my resin after curing? It will look fine before I cure it, but after not so much lol
If you're using flowers in your resin, it's easy for a flower to have air get trapped in the middle. Then, when the resin heats up while curing, it can make that bubble expand and/or come out from where it was hiding. This can happen with flowers like daisies that have tiny, trapped pieces in the center where air can get trapped and resin has a hard time getting down into. This can also happen between petals. It is important to carefully check these spots to see if bubbles are hiding.
How long the light takes to harden the resin?
That all depends on the wattage of the light. This resin takes only a couple of minutes to cure with a 6W LED-UV light. Each UV resin has different requirements.

Do all epoxy resins need that UV light?
UV resin is not the same as epoxy resin. UV resin requires UV light to cure. Epoxy resin has a part A and Part B and the mixing of the two parts creates the curing process. Either kind of resin can be used for this project, however, epoxy resin requires waiting hours or days, depending on the type, to cure. UV resin takes only a little while to cure and you're ready to go.
Can it be done with fresh flowers?
Because fresh flowers have moisture inside them, eventually that moisture will start to rot the flower. If you want to preserve the flower, whether in resin or in a frame, etc, it needs to be fully dry.
Do a push test please. Bc mine resin is always going from the mold
I had to hit it very hard to get it loose. What kind of resin are you using? Hand crafter resin has very little to no shrinkage so it stays in place very well. Some brands shrink a lot and then would come loose from your bezel.

Also I been using small 6 or 8 W UV light so I don’t know if it is the light that is not curing my resin properly or is it the resin not right. Maybe you can advise me something?
@@saulebu2245 You may just need to find what the brand you are using needs. Some UV resins need a specific wattage to cure properly and some yellow quicker than others. Some cure better in direct sunlight than with a lamp. Some will not cure well under a LED lamp. Different resins , including epoxies, have different attributes and better for certain uses. Some are thin (low viscosity) and almost pour like water. Some are thicker and better for doming. Etc. I have tried a few different brands and had issues of yellowing and stickiness. Hand Crafter UV-LED resin is my favorite and has not given me those issues. It is now my go-to UV resin.

Sunlight can be used to cure resin, although it may take longer. There should be instructions with whatever resin you are using that states approximate curing times using a UV light and sunlight!
why my flowers after a while in epoxy lose color, even though they are pre-dried
All flowers will fade in time, but there are ways to extend the life of the color. First, if there is any moisture left in the flower when it is put in epoxy or UV resin, it will fade very quickly or even mold. Direct sunlight will also fade pressed flowers very quickly so care needs to be taken with storage, etc. Starting with flowers that have lots of color helps the color last longer. That said, some flowers and color fade more quickly than others. Greens, for example, is usually one of the first colors to go.
How do you get the tape to stick to the surface? Also, don't forget PPE (: Should be wearing gloves and a respirator
The tape will stick to the edge of the bezel. You want to make sure you press it down firmly on the bezel to make sure it is firmly secure. You do not want the resin to leak out.

Hello! The flowers shouldn't stick as there is a layer of resin between the tape and the flower. The flower should sit on top of that first layer of resin.

@@katrinadang7197 I stick it to the top of the first layer. The flowers tend to float, so put the layer at the level you want the flower, put the flower on top, and cure it. Then you can do one or more layers, depending on the look you are going for.

Is the tape sticky side up or down?
The sticky side should be up so that it sticks to the bottom of the bezel to seal it so that the resin doesn't leak out before curing.

How come my daisies turn yellowish
The pollen in the center of the daisy can get on the petals and turn them yellow. If you pick the daisies early before the pollen can build up and be released, that is less likely to happen.

UV resin can be cured with either a UV light or direct sunlight, although the curing time is much faster using the light.

I used tape and its completly sticky on the back....what can I do?
Cooking oil, dish soap, or a combination of the both can be used to get rid of the stickiness. Let it sit for a minute or two, then use a popsicle or something that won't scratch the resin to gently work the residue off. Some tape leaves more residue than others. I recommend using bezel tape as it leaves less residue than regular tape!

My uv resin keeps sticking on the back of the tape even tho i followed u all the way through :( help meee
The tape will stick. Make sure you flip the bezel over and cure the underside before removing the tape. You will have to peel, and pick if necessary, to remove the tape. Depending on what kind of tape you used, there will be more or less sticky residue. After creating this video, I discovered that blue bezel tape leaves much less residue than regular packing tape. There will be some to clean off either way, it is unavoidable with tape.

What do u mean water spots???
If you use water to help get any tape residue off your resin, you don't want any dried water spots left on your piece. you want to make sure the piece is completely clean and clear before adding more resin or that spot will be forever encased in your piece.
Do you find UV resin to work best with the tape? I tried epoxy and the tape sticks to the resin really bad.
I have not tried open bezels with epoxy resin, so I can't say for certain. It may, however, have more to do with the kind of tape you use. In the video, I use packing tape, but have since found that the blue bezel tape works good and leave a lot less residue that needs to be cleaned off.

UV Resin cures very quickly so you can finish a piece in a short time. It's great for smaller pieces! 2-part epoxy resin requires a curing time. Many require hours before you want to continue.

The flowers keep floating to the top and won’t stay at the bottom. Why?!
They will do that. That is why we do it in layers. Cure the layer that has your flowers where you want them. This will anchor the flowers in place. Then you can put another layer on top and the flowers won't move.
Do you press your own flowers? Are they preserved in any way?
They are pressed using the Microfleur microwave flower press (video in the description) and only took minutes to dry. They must be pressed/dried to preserve the flower and to remove all moisture as moisture and resin do not mix and will cause problems with both the flowers and resin.
If you put a real flower will it die
Pressed flowers are real flowers that have been dried and pressed flat, all in one step. Flowers must first be preserved, in this case by pressing them, which dries them out. Fresh flowers will wilt and often mold. Also, the moisture in the fresh flowers will react with the resin and the result is a terrible looking flower, then it will wilt and mold.

I’m not sure what you mean by regular tape, but it needs to stick well so the resin doesn’t run out the bottom of the bezel. Keep in mind that different tapes will leave different amounts of residue behind when you remove it. Bezel tape leaves the least amount that you have to clean off.
