  • A Duet arrangement for the main theme from Balatro, sheet music at this link: drive.google.c...
    Original song composed by LouisF, with arrangements from LocalThunk: • Balatro - Complete Ori...
    With thanks to MrCrimit for their very accurate transcription of the theme, check out their sheet music here: musescore.com/...
    I'll sometimes branch out from Omega Strikers music and the Balatro theme was so good, I wanted to make an arrangement of it for piano.

    Okay now I see why people watch these, it's cool having it visualized this way.

    Its insane how we got a banger of a theme all because the developer paid someone on fiverr to make music for his game.
    The good news is that the creator negotiated a contract with the composer and all sales of the OST will go to said composer.

    This would really come to life with some dynamics and articulations, but the arrangement itself is great!
    The choice of piano & clarinet really compliments the tones of the original synths.

      Yeah, unfortunately, dynamics in Musescore playback are a massive pain because you have to individually adjust velocity for right vs left hand since they can't do split dynamics :( (AFAIK) I should have probably put a bit more effort into doing that manually but I didn't think this would get that many views tbh.

    • @jaynick7280
      @jaynick7280 Месяц назад +2

      @Moorah_YT It's cumbersome for sure. In the past I've given a whole piano line to each hand, just so I could hear better dynamics on playback. You can delete a staff from each piano to do that, but deleting any piano staves will also delete some piano-specific engravings unfortunately

    I haven’t touched the clarinet in like 4 years at this point. On one hand, I kinda want to try and learn this. On the other hand, those long high notes would actually murder me.

    This is great! Any chance you could combine the piano part into the left hand and have the clarinet part as the right hand for solo piano? Thanks!

    • @Moorah_YT
      @Moorah_YT  3 месяца назад +3

      I had gotten started on it, but it's a bit tricky because it's hard to cut any part of what's currently in the piano part without either losing the crunchiness of the chords, the persistent rhythm that drives the piece, or the funky bass. Measures 23-38 already did a bit of that but the bass portion is less noticeable during that section so I could get away with it :)
      I'll see what I can do though!

      ValkyRiver made an excellent solo piano version here: ruclips.net/video/OCojcq9uGCo/видео.html
      It's significantly more difficult, though, and requires the ability to hit 9ths.

      It's default velocity for musescore playback, but yeah, lesson learned, I'll try to put more effort into velocity adjustments and soundfonts for future arrangements.

      @ I’m suffering with musescore right now, actually! I just got a part in F but I play the B flat trumpet. I’m terrible at transposing, so I’m writing everything into the computer and having the software do it.

    gonna try to see if this is playable/transposable on alto sax
    edit: some of the notes are too low but definitely playable if transposed up a small interval!

      I looked into doing this with alto sax bc I do think it's the better instrumentation for this, but the range didn't quite fit with being in the right key. If you covered it in alto sax, it would sound awesome though!

    I really like the arrangement, but I think there's a couple wrong notes. Specifically the e sharp grace note in bar 14 (I think it should be e natural) and one of the 16th notes in bar 9 (I think the f sharp might be natural as well) and then their counterparts later in the song. Im not 100% sure I'm right, but it just sounds a little off to me.

    • @Moorah_YT
      @Moorah_YT  Месяц назад

      Thanks for the feedback :) Yeah, I think bar 14 one is really hard to do with any instrument because they bend the note so hard in the original. I don't really know how to notate that bend.
      Yeah I think you're right on the bar 9 one, probably too late to change in the audio here but I can edit it in the sheet music.

    Clarinet vibrato?

    • @Moorah_YT
      @Moorah_YT  Месяц назад

      Yeah, it's definitely more standard for saxophone, but the same premise holds for something like jazz clarinet. You know how if your embouchure isn't good the note can come out a bit flat? You just take advantage of that and loosen then tighten your embouchure rapidly and that produces a vibrato effect.
      The original soundtrack has a really wobbly sound for those long note holds, so I figured a vibrato effect would imitate that, but you can also just omit that like in the playback. Musescore playback options for vibrato are awful so I just left it as a note in the sheet music.
