Always loved the back and forth with Sue Ann and Murray. He would insult her, she would laugh and smile, "Oh, Murray," and zing him right back. "I hope my mind is still active when I'm your age."
It's especially funny since Betty White was nine years older than Gavin Macleod! Dear Betty was sharp as a tack until the end. There will likely never be another actress more loved, or funnier.
Why am I still cracking up over this almost 50 years later! Betty White was one of kind! And isn’t it amazing how much was loved by everyone all over the world!! It’s wonderful to know that she’s been reunited with the love of her life in heaven!! RIP…
I think what some may not realize is that before MTM, Betty had always been presented in the show-business world as sort of a poor person's Doris Day, her characters were generally virtuous, demure and wholesome. Which made her portrayal of the lecherous, acid-tongued and somewhat depraved Sue Ann Nivens even funnier at the time than it is now. Watching her character on CBS Saturday night, it wasn't just "wow, this character is funny," it was "holy crap, BETTY WHITE of all people is playing this character."
I didn't, so thank you for sharing! I first saw her on MTM re-runs as a kid, so by the time I got to Golden Girls re-runs, I didn't trust Rose one bit -- I waited so many episodes for Sue Ann to pop up until I realized she just had a heck of a range.
I use to watch this all the time. So great. Sue Ann N character really a spiced it up alot. Betty White was great as Sue Ann N. I always loved the wonderful theme song. I do remember when a new verse was added in to the original song. Plus it's been on UTUBE. I Love Utube!!❤❤
This is from the episode "Chuckles Bites the Dust". THE funniest episode of the series. Ironically, it about the death of a clown. "He was dressed as Peter Peanut, and a rogue elephant tried to shell him".
Lou: I'm not letting my anchorman walk down Main Street hand in hand with a chimp. It tends to give him an undignified image. Ted: Awww, Lou, it won't give me an undignified image! Lou: I was talking about the chimp. There's so much gold in that episode it's impossible to mine it all. And let's be honest, who among us has never hurt our foo-foo?
One continuity element that had been lost by this point in the series is that Georgette was first introduced as Chuckles the Clown's daughter. By the time of Chuckle's funeral, she's just another mourner. The family relationship had been ditched when Georgette was made a main character and Ted's love interest.
There's a new challenge sweeping the internet. The “Betty White Challenge” is a virtual event that will be held on Jan. 17 (which would have been the actress’ 100th birthday). The event asks fans to donate $5 to animal rescues or shelters in her name.
You left out the part where Mary carried the mobile on her finger over to the corner of the office to hang up, and Ted says, "Hey Mare, love your ring."
That's the most pathetic looking mobile that I've ever seen. She didn't even spray paint the base green y she has a flying fried egg, what no fork too. She could have at least had a plastic rubber duck or some pigeon feathers to represent the meat group. What are they going with the mobile afterwards, donate it to a puppy after eye surgery to test out his vision.

From "Chuckles Bites the Dust", my #1 favorite episode of all...
RIP, Betty White. Thanks for the wonderful laughs.
Only Betty? All 8 are gone now.
Always loved the back and forth with Sue Ann and Murray. He would insult her, she would laugh and smile, "Oh, Murray," and zing him right back. "I hope my mind is still active when I'm your age."
I bet she wrote that line. She was very clever!
It's especially funny since Betty White was nine years older than Gavin Macleod!
Dear Betty was sharp as a tack until the end. There will likely never be another actress more loved, or funnier.
And when she zinged Murray, she was usually stroking his bald head (about which he was very sensitive) ever so gently...
We lost both actors in 2021 unfortunately!!!
Oohhhh 😂😂
Miss everyone on that show! Betty was such a jewel😁😂
Happy 100th Birthday in Heaven Betty. The four girls sitting around a cheesecake with 100 candles. 💕💕
"What's all this Fuss about Famine?" ROFLMAO
I died. I literally died. Hit me like a slap in the face and I couldn’t stop laughing.
I didn’t remember these shows being so funny as a child. I guess a lot goes over a kid’s head. These shows stand the test of time.

I love Betty White no matter what she played in. One of our National Treasures
Betty White was so delightfully acerbic as Sue Ann!👍🏻

Exactly! It was as if Julie Andrews had decided to star in the Aileen Wuornos Story...😮
She could be pretty saucy on her game show appearances, too. Sue Ann was my favorite character, but Mrs. Allen Ludden... may they both rest in peace.
It worked for a new generation when she hosted SNL. People couldn't believe what was coming out of her mouth.
Ronald - BEAUTIFULLY PUT!!!!

That was a nice burn at the end 😂😂😂
0:25 ha-ha-ha, Murray - ha, I just hope my mind is still active when I'm your age 🤣🤣🤣
Who didn't love when Murray and Sue Ann would engage in a battle of wits? 😂

Betty could play hateful so well. 😆
The four food groups: dine-in, take-out, drive-through, and delivery.
Sorry but it’s fat, sugar, salt, and alcohol😁
No, it's VODKA, GIN, SCOTCH
and VERMOUTH! 😋🍸
Nah, the groups are grain (crust), fruit/vegetable (sauce), dairy (cheese), and meat (pepperoni). When combined they form a pizza.
Gravy, Butter, Biscuits, and Chocolate. The Southern Version!😂😋🍫📺B.W.

One the widely (of a certain group of people) acknowledged best shows of the series.
Mary losing it listening to the eulogies was gold.

@@Marcel_Audubon Never knew that. Thanks.
Loved Sue Ann Nivens and Betty gave her just the right amount of salt.
Ah, what a joy! Here's to you, Betty. Rest in peace.
“Can I close them again?” Lol
I Just love Sue Ann's dirty laugh!
"To relieve the tedium" hahaha!
2022 is really 1AB (after Betty)
Sue Ann & Murray remind me of Miss Babcock & Niles in The Nanny. Always sending those great zingers, lol !
Or Niles and Roz from Frasier. 😂
She would have made a great home ec teacher!
"What's all this fuss about famine?!" HaHa!!!!

Betty loved animals-always spoke of it. A fitting tribute.
I guess someone could have done Sue Ann, but she made it her own.
My younger brother actually put Go, Grow and Grab Food as the major food groups in his health test.
Best show ever
And later Georgette hangs the mobile in Mary's fridge!
"Ted, when you go...could you take this with you?"
I’m old enough to remember those tacky mobiles. They were EVERYWHERE.
And dioramas too
First day of 2022... sad one to watch this
What's all this fuss about famine? LoL 😆🤣
You left out the part where Mary carried the mobile on her finger over to the corner of the office to hang up, and Ted says, "Hey Mare, love your ring."
I just CANNOT look at Betty White without thinking of Rose Nylund.
It's crazy how good she can play so different roles♡I just love betty white
I can
Too bad they didn’t include Ted Baxter’s comment: “Love your ring, Mary.”
That minx
We lost a few actors from this show in 2021 including Betty White just be fore NYE.
4 total:
Cloris Leachman
Gavin McLeod
Ed Asner
Betty White
All are missed.
"Can I close my eyes again?"
I love Suzanne niven
LOL! Wicked 😂🤣
What's all this fuss about famine? so funny
RIP
Again, who styled Mary’s hair?
food mobile ! thanx
