Cheers Al, I have just taken it down to try something else up as it seems to be slightly deaf to known stations. I will try it on a portable mast at 30ft up see if that improves things when i can be bothered.
I have had one for over 3 years , built like crap but they work fantastic spoken all over the world on mine and I’m only 40 ft above sea level antenna is about 20ft high 👍
Yeah for DX they work pretty good but unsure why but locally it is slightly down in a few directions against a Antron. I’m over 350ft asl but I’m surrounded by some big hills so maybe the Gainmaster isn’t happy climbing over them.
@ all about location I think , I never really got out well on the Antron , different antennas different take off points on them , gainmaster was a good 2 s points on the Antron on receive and transmit and both was in the same location, if one antenna was the best for everyone we would all be using it 👍
@@mattyfraser9487 I have something else to try that I picked up over BF but before i swap it out i plan on temporarily popping it on a portable 30ft mast to see if things change.
The first section is usually put in a bit more than the instructions say because they tend to snap there then push the other sections in a bit less than the instructions to make up for it.
@@QRP700 Probably not a bad idea but then the other sections get short changed. Ideally the top 3 sections should’ve been a few inches longer but i guess they’re built to a budget.
Great video Mate. It was the Gainmaster that pretty much got my RUclips channel know. I had the very first one in England, must be 14 years ago now.🙂 ruclips.net/video/EnvJr4FJGEw/видео.html
Thanks Dave, I was going to dump this video but thought i would throw it up on here at my dad’s request haha. They’re not a bad antenna but i think my location isn’t the best for the Gainmaster as RX is down a touch against a 1/2 wave antenna. I’ll check your videos out later.
@@gtretroworld I enjoyed watching it, I spend hours with tape measures getting everything to the mm. I did a build video years ago on the Sirio Vector 4000 antenna.
I have a ton of radio Footage in video 8 and mini DV from doing similar years ago but i need to transfer it someday, unsure if anyone would be interested.
I'm durham area myself. I once had a Mighty magnum aerial the 4 ground planes were like DV 27's. The thing was huge! These days I think the Antron 99 Is nthe best all-rounder.
Best Gainmaster assembly video on the internet.. well done Neil too marks and in-depth, very good.
Unsure about that Glenn but thanks a lot. I much prefer outside vlogs with this sort of thing.
Desks looking well mate
The flexispot desk is brilliant, I have been modifying it recently.
Great video bud and getting it up in the snow fair play to ya.

Good video Neil but did you notice you said to should slide the top section back in 1 - 1.5 mm when you meant 1 to 1.5 cm lol
I was waiting on someone to pick up on that, nearly edited it out too but glad i didn’t now. 😂
Cheers for the vid How's your Mighty Magnum Doing ?
It’s sat in the loft Andy, I will someday put it through its paces at a decent height.

Just literally just mentioned the Antron, for some reason RX is a good S Point better than the Gainmaster but it is probably just my location.
