OMG!!! I wished this video was a year earlier. I'd given up on Flysky being an option for simulators. I always feel this was the most inexpensive route to flying. But the lack of support was staggering to connect easily! That's why I switched over to FrSky. The learning curve is there also because OpenTX isn't easy. But I keep trying. Yes! The Struggle is Real!!! Keep doing what your doing! Keep this great content coming! Again.. Thanks! Guess I grab my Flysky Transmitter and play once I get everything setup. Let the fun begin!
I just upgraded to the qx7 from a FSi6. Getting used to the sticks has been a little tricky. I would love to be able to use this with sbus! Thanks for sharing this trick!
perfect timing! Yesterday evening I decided to go to local hobby shop and grab taranis qx7 because i couldn't stand the PPM drift issues I had with my flysky. Now that its digital signal all the way to pc there is no drift at all and I can put off buying proper radio for another few months
I actually did this a long time ago, but I used the UnoJoy, iBus and AltSoftSerial libraries on my Uno to get everything to work. It works pretty well and is recognised as a game controller. Thanks for the video!
Hell yeah dude! I bought some Arduino Nano's when this came out and I just did this today and it's still a great tutorial, everything still works (obviously). Fun project! Thanks for the video!
It's connected to the Arduino tx because the Arduino is just like a ftdi adapted and the Rx pin of the ftdi adapted is connected to the Rx pin if the atmega 328p
If you want, you can use almost any ppm receiver with arduino leonardo. It connects to system as native joystick (need Joystick library). Don't know if these project exist on english (found it on Russian community).
As i understand it, arduino is used only for its serial-usb adapter. Since there is no program inside the arduino to change pins behaviour, upon reset all pins are high impedance inputs, so TX pin isnt affected by the arduino microcontroller. Which means that ibus signal is going to passthrough to serial adapter's RX pin(thats why you connect it to arduino's TX pin, these are tied together). So a single ftdi/usb-serial adapter should work the same, no need for arduino.
Hi, I do not know what I have done wrong, but the connection from the vjoy to the radio is not being picked up. I saw that there were newer versions but I used the same ones as the one in the video. Can someone please help!
I just set this up, but I decided to just use the MultiWii protocol with a Betaflight FC whoop. It was super quick because I didn't need to flash or solder anything. Just had to plug the whoop into USB port and install and configure the that vJoy feeder app. Works pretty well.
Great, glad you figured that out! Drone Mesh mentioned he might make video about the MultiWii protocol also. Do you notice any latency? With my tests with a F4 board I've never felt any, but when I used Eachine E010S, which has F3 controller, I noticed some lag. What kind of FC/loop freq your whoop uses?
Cleric I think there is some latency, but very little. Hardly noticable compared to Taranis USB HID. Will try a FlySky with an FTDI or Arduino eventually too.
OK, thanks. Receivers spit data at whatever rate they are made to. For MultiWii currently I request the data from the FC at around 25ms. I've planned for a future release to add an option in the interface to set that interval yourself. I'll try with my F3 board to increase the rate as much as possible and see if it makes some difference. But most probably the MSP code inside bf (have to check the sources) runs on a lower priority task and that's why it gets delayed a little.
Thanks for this tutorial. On vjoyserial everything is ok, i can see axis moving but on liftoff nothing is working with the calibration, i only can see that vjoy is connected. An idea?
Im trying to connect a hitec optic 6 to an FTDI with a Corona cr8d. No problem binding. Doesn't seem to want to connect to VJoy serialfeeder no matter which protocol i use. I believe I may need to use an arduino to program since its an older transmitter?
son of a ....i spent HOURS trying to figure this out.. my transmitter and receiver are both iBUS, and i kept getting the dreaded "Connected, Failsafe ( Serial Port Read Timeout ) message , switched the protocol in vjoyserialfeeder to MultiWii instead of iBus and boom it's working ! ( windows 10, Fs-16x Transmitter )
I have a question about this after you have the receiver soldered on will this work for a RC project can the R-xSR control the Arduino so I can control motors and such using the arduino I have both and wondered if it’s possible thanks man
Are you still able to upload a sketch into the Arduino after doing this? For example, could I upload a sketch with a digital switch or relay that automatically connects the TX pin to the receiver after a couple of seconds? Or can you put in a signal diode preventing current traveling from the Arduino TX to receiver?
I have been using this lil module you built for us for a few months now, and i'm designing a 3D printed case for it. I don't want to include a switch, but I don't want to accidentally forget and destroy my module one day. Did you ever try to fire it up all connected to check if it fries the receiver? I'm going to put a 1a 50w rectifier diode into the signal wire to be safe. I'll let you know if I have any problems.
This collaboration is wonderful. Well done Clerics and Drone Mesh. I would be interested in SBus as I have a spare RX just sitting here as well as a teensy, although it WAS earmarked for a head tracking project ☺
Hello Drone Mesh, i really appreciate your innovation. i lost 2 transmitters becoz of the Simulator cable. this is really really good and working good. Sorry to ask a uestion even after i got a solution, do we have any fix for realflight 7.5 - i dont want to use that cable. i would really appreciate if you can help me. Thanks & Regards - Kiran Matam.
Great post!! I got a g-mail message today saying just to confirm your twitter account click this! Im thinking i do not even have twitter and never have!! SCAMMERS SUCK!!!! This is good info! Thanks!! 👍👍
What is the purpose of the Arduino? There is no program installed to it. Is it just to power the receiver and use tx to send signal? Why do you use the fs-a8s? Could you not ise the standard receiver that comes with remote? It has ibus connector.
why we must clear eeprom? i have built RC Receiver with arduino+nrf24, so i've variable that contain of joy data ( 0-1023), can i use it just with that data? but how to change this routine : #define NUM_ANALOG_INPUTS 4 byte analogPins[] = {0, 1, 2, 3}; what i want is using my joy data , not from joystick directly (analogPins).
Is there a noticeable lag using this method? I'm using same transmitter to play Liftoff but connected via cable to mic intput and there is noticeable lag.
Finally it arrived, freakin' 5 weeks.... and I can't get the driver installed, not even manually, and not with the arduino troubleshoot section. Been trying and reading the last 2 hours. It has been working through my quads usb but I wanted lower latancy and now after a long wait.....Nothing!
So i hooked up a FrSky X4R and downloaded vjoySerialFeeder v1.3.1 which is sbus compatible. it connects but no channels will work. any suggestions. Are you going to do a nether vid on this ? I am one of your Patrons. should i contact you some other way? Thanks
That's great.i have the turnigy evolution just laying around with a broken switch.now I can use it for this.but an frsky version would be awesome as well
Couldn't you write a few lines to explain what to delete ehen youf moniter is overbright and nothing is visible. This is shown to be a very detailed step by step tutoriaol buf the part where you delete something in the eeeprom sketch which he cant mention as if wd can see okn that overbright moniter. The majn thing is whats missing!

Wow! This is new. ibus.. yeah!
So basically this is NOT using an arduino, just the com port section. 👍 thanks Cleric and dronemesh
That's really awesome, man. Congrats for the work, Cleric-K!
I was happily surprised when something involving a arduino worked on the first try. Thanks a ton man :D
perfect timing! Yesterday evening I decided to go to local hobby shop and grab taranis qx7 because i couldn't stand the PPM drift issues I had with my flysky. Now that its digital signal all the way to pc there is no drift at all and I can put off buying proper radio for another few months

Does these steps works with real flight simulator software.. kindly share the deatils please thankz in advance.
I was having difficulties using the adaptor from s-video to p2 audio, but now it's working perfectly with the arduino hack. Thanks a lot!
Hell yeah dude! I bought some Arduino Nano's when this came out and I just did this today and it's still a great tutorial, everything still works (obviously). Fun project! Thanks for the video!

So that is why he Erases the Eeprom and doesn't subsequently load up a sketch...?!
I love projects like this! I would love to see other protocols supported!!
Second - I wish I had known this while I was still using FlySky.. nice !
This is pretty freakin awesome. Thanks Mesh for letting us know about this setup. Please keep up the great work :)
I'll be ordering this today! This is perfect for using my EVO! Thanks to Clerics for the software, and thanks to Mesh for the tutorial!!!
This project support is any ather transmitter.... like Radiomaster pocket elrs version this pls reply me bro....
Thank you for sharing, this method is simple and works fine for me :) I am using it since 6 weeks flowless.
that is feking epic. frsky would be nice. thank you for bringing this to our attenton and thank you to the creator for making this.
Hi, I do not know what I have done wrong, but the connection from the vjoy to the radio is not being picked up. I saw that there were newer versions but I used the same ones as the one in the video. Can someone please help!
thank you. But why was the EEPROM library used? It also works without EEPROM clear.

I did this a few years back and it was amazing. I used the turnigy 9xr
Could you add and led between the tx pin and the receiver? It wouldn't be able to burn the receiver if it works.
Thanks for this tutorial. On vjoyserial everything is ok, i can see axis moving but on liftoff nothing is working with the calibration, i only can see that vjoy is connected. An idea?
same issue did you figure it out?
Hi i am asking aht type of connect cable you are using to connect ur arduino to ur reciever ?
Im trying to connect a hitec optic 6 to an FTDI with a Corona cr8d. No problem binding. Doesn't seem to want to connect to VJoy serialfeeder no matter which protocol i use. I believe I may need to use an arduino to program since its an older transmitter?
Amazing info thanks for developing and sharing.
you guys just wonderful 🥳
Still referencing this video. Dude, thanks
Thank you man! It works like a charm! Awesome video!
Everytime I open the VjoySerialFeeder it says, Failsafe (Serial Port Read Timeout). Does someone has an answer for that?
Did you fix it? And if so , please tell me how
I want to know to1!
On the transmitter, change Output mode from S.Bus to I.Bus. This helped us resolve same issue.
son of a ....i spent HOURS trying to figure this out.. my transmitter and receiver are both iBUS, and i kept getting the dreaded "Connected, Failsafe ( Serial Port Read Timeout ) message , switched the protocol in vjoyserialfeeder to MultiWii instead of iBus and boom it's working ! What should we do if we have fs-ct6b how to connect Arduino nano with the receiver? Like just one signal pin is enough?
Hi i am asking aht type of connect cable you are using to connect ur arduino to ur reciever
Hi i am asking qht type of connector r u using to connect ur arduino to ur reciver
I have a question about this after you have the receiver soldered on will this work for a RC project can the R-xSR control the Arduino so I can control motors and such using the arduino I have both and wondered if it’s possible thanks man
I have no problem with the vjoy serialfeeder, everything works fine, but when i open velocidrone, only throttle and yaw works.
Perfect for my TGY-i10 and VelociDrone! Tnx Sam! Woohoooo! :D
Thanks! A question! Every time You connect the arduino to the PC, You remove the receiver?
Sorry but when you do programming in Arduino, is it already with FTDI and RX connected, or only with FTDI? thank you again
thanks for putting this together !
any advice when using a ESP32 module ?
i am unable to clear EEPROM.
did you ever figure it out?
Great tutorial. Can I use FS-IA6B for this? Best Regards.
How to do it with Flysky FS-iA6b.. i mean it has many input ports, so where do iplug in the wires comin from arduino?
Are you still able to upload a sketch into the Arduino after doing this? For example, could I upload a sketch with a digital switch or relay that automatically connects the TX pin to the receiver after a couple of seconds? Any update on the 3D printed case or the added 1a 50w rectifier? Did this protect the receiver?
This collaboration is wonderful. Well done Clerics and Drone Mesh. I would be interested in SBus as I have a spare RX just sitting here as well as a teensy, although it WAS earmarked for a head tracking project ☺
Dan Williams We are working on the sbus part now.
Drone Mesh Great stuff. You guys are making history
It's cleric doing all the coding I'm just pulling the packets for him.. He won't accept a qx7 from me :(
Drone Mesh Ah man, maybe offer him the multiprotocol deviation TX instead, then he can be a protocol geek ☺
Hello Drone Mesh, i really appreciate your innovation. i lost 2 transmitters becoz of the Simulator cable. this is really really good and working good. Nice vid. But will this system work with RealFlight simulators ???? "NEW SUB"
why not use a simple usb2uart converter instead of an arduino?
What is the purpose of the Arduino? There is no program installed to it. Is it just to power the receiver and use tx to send signal? Why do you use the fs-a8s? Could you not ise the standard receiver that comes with remote? It has ibus connector.
seems the part about loading the Joystick ino file is missing in the vid?
@@zeropoint-1041 no just upload the eeprom clear sketch that u can find in the IDE
hi. i have a question does this work with the flysky fs recivers
for like flysky fs-t4b
Is this applicable on other models of Tx, for example Turnigy 9X?
Saved my life bro, thanks!
Hi bro. Thanks for sharing. Does this works on fpv freerider too?
Thank you so much mate,I am very thankful to you
why we must clear eeprom? i have built RC Receiver with arduino+nrf24, so i've variable that contain of joy data ( 0-1023), can i use it just with that data? but how to change this routine :
#define NUM_ANALOG_INPUTS 4

Amazing work, thanks for sharing!! happy new year !
Hey! And what about macOS? Is there a way to put that code into a different controller program, basically any that works with mac?
Very cool mate. I do not know how you keep coming up with such hot shit. Cheers. Keep it up.
Very good video as always and yes a frsky set up would be nice would thank you very much
Is there a noticeable lag using this method? I'm using same transmitter to play Liftoff but connected via cable to mic intput and there is noticeable lag.
Amigo, muchas gracias por compartir estos conocimientos, greetings
Went fine up to the liftoff calibration screen and lift can't find my vjoy. Help? Thx.
Wow, you explained it in a very detailed way, could you also make a video for JR Transmitter (9X II)?
Freakin cool man, you just keep jammin out great vids!
can you use the regular receiver that comes with the controller?
Yes you can
Amazing, but why the browser that must not be named?
Great work by Cleric-K, and thanks for you to have made people aware. Works like a charm for me..
Wonder if an FTDi would work as well
Hey, I like the video, but in the beginning it was said it could be done by ftdi adapter, how would I wire that up? The same way? 5v g and tx? Or rx?
Alex Suarez Check the github doc the intructions are there for the FTDI
Drone Mesh ok thank you
thank you so much i have been trying to get it to work but finaly it wored thank you so much
Finally it arrived, freakin' 5 weeks....
and I can't get the driver installed, not even manually, and not with the arduino troubleshoot section. Been trying and reading the last 2 hours.
It has been working through my quads usb but I wanted lower latancy and now after a long wait.....Nothing!
Hi sir ,what about i10ab reciever it also have i-bus
Can you guys help me, i connect on COM4 (FS-iA6b) but as soon as i turn on my transmitter it disapears from device manager, what am i doing wrong?
Does it work with fs-iA6 receiver ?
Hi man, it is possible to do the same for the Futaba radio with a RX Sbus as well? tks and congrat for your video
awesome! ordered it. Thanks!
Hi DM can i use fs-ia6b receiver on this mod set up thank you 🙏
Yes if it has ibus
Salute you sir thank you👌👍
DM follow up question you should pair first your reciever and transmitter first before pluging in to the adruino? than u for response...
Right now I'm using FS-i6X, but I want to upgrade to Q X7. I hope he do the SBUS hack too..
do u have made a video for the battery mod on this Fs-i6 transmiter i want to put a lipo on it but not sure what using for this mod :9
thank u so much
omg this was my first video I watched on your channel hahaha
What USB is this? Can't seem to find one that fits.
Thanks a lot I'm totally going to do it
mine was a bit jerky what am I doing wrong?
I do have an ftdi and a ton of flysky receivers but no arduino could you explain how to do it with that? Or send a link
T-Jenga Check the github doc he has the instructions on it.
How about factory transmitter like eachine e011?
Followed everything to a T but can't get the Flysky FS-A8S to bind to my taranis Qx7, any suggestions? Thanks
You cant bind a Frsky transmitter to a flysky receiver.
So i hooked up a FrSky X4R and downloaded vjoySerialFeeder v1.3.1 which is sbus compatible. it connects but no channels will work. any suggestions. Are you going to do a nether vid on this ? I am one of your Patrons. should i contact you some other way? Thanks
Your the best of the Best!!! Thank you!!!
any reasons I am getting serial port read timeout?
Would this be possible with sbus?
Can I use it for xfire?
will it work with fs IA6B?
What about a diode in the ibus wire to protect the rx
id think its a good idea, since they have a voltage drop and might mess with the signals
Does this work with other Arduinos ? Please RSVP
Awesome video I like it thanks
That's great.i have the turnigy evolution just laying around with a broken switch.now I can use it for this.but an frsky version would be awesome as well
3rd. Nice video keep the good work😃
