His best song, honestly the emotional and lyrical picture this paint's in one's washes over as If accepting death in a life with nothing but regret with no hope for redemption.
In the year 2011 my grandmother was evicted waiting for death in a bed three days of brain death and in a moment I played this song at the foot of her bed and she cried and singing, at that moment she gave a strong breath and finally went to rest, I will never forget that moment and this song

Underrated album by many of the Anitchrist Superstar and earlier fans, and actually understandable though. This is album is completely left field in comparison of the previous works. This was more or less a glam album instead of the previous dirty and grim style, that would fit right into a horror movie. But in the end, Mechanical Animals album has some of the best songwriting to this day.
I remember picking up this album the day it was released..back when you can sample an album before purchasing by waiting for a track on the radio...I bought it took it home, wondering what the fuck is this?? But the deeper i got into it..the more i appreciated it..I caught him in concert while he was touring for this album..and 20 years lt still one of my favorite mm. This is one of his greatest albums but there's just something that Antichrist Superstar and Holywood has that this album doesn't have this album (for me) has more of a heartbreak/drug binge feel to it idk maybe its just me
+Alex Vuich They're both great, but the album version is much more atmospheric and captures the feeling of impending doom much better. Mechanical Animals is truly the work of a genius.
Sometimes i think he sings pretty terrible live on purpose, combination of laziness, not caring or high. But he can sing great when he wants to, sounds good on this one.
Marilyn manson à une voie incroyable. Parfois en live quand il fait l idiot ou qu il est défoncé c est mauvais mais c est une excellent chanteur dans tout les cas
@@thatyoudliketoknow1628 The studio vocals are very heavily layered and almost certainly recorded at a much lower volume than you'd expect. So he's done singy vocals, shouty vocals, whispery vocals and gutteral vocals, recorded at low levels to capture the subtlety of each one, then layered together at different points in the track, which gives an awesome dynamic effect. It's a hard sound to replicate live though, and I suspect the volume and energy of the live show just has him doing the shouty screamy type vocal at a point that's way to loud for him to have any decent pitch control.
It's already been a year I can't believe your gone dad, I played the song you wanted for so long. " The last day on earth and we'll never say goodbye" I love you.
I had my father visit me in a dream about a year after he died, was waiting for me with a smile and a cup of coffee by the table in the veranda where he liked to sit with me in the morning. I asked him if everything was allright, and he said "yeah". I told him i asked him that "because dad, you're dead you know?" He said "I know" and I hugged him and we started chatting. I woke up in tears, of joy and relief because I finally could say Goodbye to him. I'm writing this with tears building up in my eyes right now. They're never really gone and they watch over us... I'm sorry for your loss
This song haunted and followed my brain for years. My ex died a decade or so ago now from cancer, and MM was one of our favorite artists we'd listen to. Miss you Alexis, hope the afterlife is treating you well. Another shot to you!
I had a dream once nearly 18 years ago when this song had come out. I'll never forget it. The world was ending a massive storm was coming destroying everything in its path. My dad and I were running out of our house trying to get away and Manson was sitting on a chair playing guitar while a tornado approached from behind. In all the terror and confusion there was just calmness as everything was obliterated.
I love this song. I was so surprised when I heard this... I bought The Last Tour On Earth cd from a store and this is the last one on the record. This is the only song from the album that's still on my MP3.
I wanna say this was never planned to be performed, nor recorded. It was a last minute decision by Manson to play it live, and damn, it turned out great. I'm with you, though. I'd LOVE to hear a clean studio version. Such a haunting song.
I have always been obsessed with the idea of dying to a meteor and then, when this song came out I fell in love as it seemed to be about exactly what I dreamed about nightly. I used to sit in fields and dream of what it would be like to see the wide open sky filled with rock hurtling towards us. This song became my anthem of sorts for a few years in the 90s as I went through the worst period of depression in my life. Now, in 2015, I still suffer from depression but it's nothing like it was when I was younger. I'm numb to the pain now that I'm an old ass man. I have an engineering job, a mortgage, a life, and though I still dream of dying in a blaze as the Earth cracks into pieces, I get through life day by day. Tonight though, I watched Melancholia for the first time, and all I could think of was this song. Watching the planet growing in the sky, all I could think about were the feeling this song gave me decades ago. They finally made a movie depicting how I've always felt since I was young. The feeling may be buried, but it isn't dead. I long for the planet's death.

Tom Meier far better than the ‘electric’ version
Any true music lover can't disregard the fact that this song was strongly inspired by Shadow Project and Rozz Williams song Forever Came Today.
That intro being done on the acoustic was beautiful, such an atypical cord but in context that's amazing
It’s so wonderful to play that song… I wish could sing like Marilyn Manson

Not sure. It always hit hard for me as well.

It doesn't sound anything like a Bowie song 😂😂😂
@@Inconvenient_NPC it def does, reminds me of We Are the Dead
Manson was heavily inspired by Bowie, when they wrote this album. Bowls was one of his heroes according to his official biography.
