Thanks for this you have inspired me! I have used the procion dyes to tie dye some shirts, but now I want to try and dye one of my strore bought cotton/poly shirts that I don’t wear because it is a oh hum brown. If I could make it more of a terra-cotta color or even just get a heathered look I might be more inclined to wear it. I usually wear bright colors so have no idea why I bought the brown shirt, probably because it was on sale.

Is this more worth while to do than just regular rit dye? Curious if its worth the im assuming extra $/supplies and wffort

I believe it is a brighter bolder dye than Rit.

I have tie-dyed with the rit dye and procrion dye. Both work but the rit colors are much duller and they fade faster when washing. My procrion shirts have stayed bright for years.

I used to use Procion dyes in fibers/handmade paper. Do you know if it will dye buttons-specifically natural clam shell, what they call MOP buttons? Rit fails at color, too dull.

PROCION MX bonds to plant fibres like cotton, and rayon.
Acid Dyes will dye animal protein fibres like wool and silk. I think the Acid Dye would do better for animal shells.
