Question: how often do you run to be in shape to compete? and what distance do you run each time to be in shape? and this distance, you try to run it in what time? what is your timing for the distance you run? Thank you.
Start off slowly to get your body used to running. Very short, slow running. This can take some time. Build up distance slowly. Do not go fast at first for a good while. It's about training/building the heart. Do not go by the '220 minus your age' for heart rate training. Walking is ok when you first start. Run-walk-run is good until you can run consistently. Resting is where your biggest gains are at. I run 4-days a week. 4-6 miles at a time (when not training for a trail race, 50k +). I run Tuesday & Thursday then Saturday and Sunday. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are rest days. Monday is the BIG rest day where I do 'almost' nothing but rest and drink water and maybe a nap might happen. Most importantly, IS to get fitted for running shoes! Don't stretch before running (you could get injured as a result from it) Do it within 15 minutes afterwards. Do a dynamic warm up before you go out instead. I am a competitive trail runner also and take water with me even on my shortest training runs all year around. Hydration is key to success! I hope this helps.
Good for our both physical and mental health. Become stronger and stronger! Get lot of fun,....then calm and peace.
