These tracks by TJ Butler are perhaps the best ambient tracks I have ever heard. Timeless! They capture the entire vibration of the FIZMO, and show the way towards the right understanding of what this synth is, how to play it, when it was made, and how it became a gemstone after a short, and failed consumer life. A ghostly hero of Ensoniq's past, in the wake of historical digital overload itself (the introduction of the PC sound card industry). I too visit these tracks often and just marvel at what has been created here with the FIZMO. Kudos TJ! Seriously amazing work! Amazing vibe!

You've really shown how well the Fizmo can do ambient, I felt like I was listening to a Brian Eno soundtrack but it's just a Fizmo using one osc on a single patch! :) Very well done... will need to keep my eyes peeled for one of these.
Ensoniq is still one of the best synthesizers and workstations in the history of the existence of keyboard hardware products. (It was really sad to learn that it no longer exists)
Excellent post Ted. Fizmo is killer for ambient works. My goal is to set up a patch where I can hold down one key and get a whole tracks worth of dyanmic ambience. (Why write, when your Fizmo will do it for you?)

I remember when these were new in music stores. I think this was the product that put the final nail in the Ensoniq coffin.

A stunning synthesizer, one of the best for creating rich complex sounds and textures. Rare and expensive, unfortunately.

is that one of the pre set wavetables on a single oscillator? not a transwave you created yourself?
You can't create transwaves on a fiz (not like on TS). But it is transwave synthesis, so...
I used to have one of the few ever made Fizmo racks... 😞, Oh well...
