For as amazing as Kyle Tucker is, he isn’t even the reason for the surge. He’s been injured for all of June. Luckily his replacement Joey Loperfido is a beast at plate and is hitting with amazing consistency. The real difference has been the improvement in pitching. Pressley and Hader have finally gotten it together and are doing well out of the bullpen. Hunter Brown has been one of the best pitchers in the league over June after posting an ERA over 9 in April. Spencer Arrighetti has shown a lot of development in June too. I also think the release of Jose Abreu was a major wake up call for the team as well. last year, this year, and that year they started 15-30 back in the early 2000s (in the Biggio/Bagwell/Berkman era) were all pretty bad April/May starts to the season. The Astros are just experts at coming back from the cellar, it seems. I wish they could do it within more GAMES, tho (come back from really large deficits), but they just had a come-from-behind win late in Saturday's win over the Mets and a come-from-tied win late in Sunday s win over the Mets, so... that gives me hope they can keep that up and ALWAYS be in each and every game, win or lose, yanno?
Bregman too on the pitch selection.. His key is when he’s getting that fastball away does he go to right field with it?.. When he’s doing that he’s dangerous, and it gives the team 2 guys in the lineup that opens opportunities for others..
And that too but Bregman etc were all cold but now they’re starting to heat up. When we have most of our pitching back and all our guys healthy, watch out

@@bobbygetsbanned6049It also plays into the mentality of the other players on the roster. Knowing you have an auto out in the middle of lineup is devastating.
Not all Abreu's fault. Bergman was hitting below the Mendoza line until June. He's hitting ~.350 since. Hunter Brown went from just awful to an ERA of 1.16. Blanco has been a gem.
Been saying this all season. Everyone was so quick to write them off. I compare them to the Chiefs. They might have a slow start and raise some questions about still being a championship contender, but come playoff time they will always be there. And if you want a chance to win it all, you have to go through them.
Everyone knew this day would come. That said they are DESPERATE for pitching. I literally can’t count how many starters are on the IL. I believe that the pitch clock is to blame. A LOT of teams are experiencing an unusual number of pitchers out, and sadly with tommy john.
Pretty cool what the Stros are doing. Seems like a couple weeks ago they were 9 back of Seatle, and now, what, 3.5. But do they have the pitching to keep this going. Blanco, the most innings he's pitched was 120 last year. Is he gonna be gassed after the break. Brown, can he keep up this insane pitching. Probably not. Verlander is obviously iffy. Arighetti, his velo is improving, so that's a positive. Love to see em go out and get a pitcher that won't cost them an arm and a leg, someone like Quantrill. Enjoying it for now, but we'll see.
This season reminds me a lot of 2005 when the Astros started off terrible and the Chronicle(newspaper) printed their tombstone when they were 15 or 16 games under .500. They then proceeded to play .900 baseball and were back to .500 around the allstar break from what I remember. They ended up going to the world series for the first time that year where they got swept.
As a lifelong Astros fan, this video pleases me. Thank you for your blatant appeal to all of Houston to subscribe to your channel, good sir! I shall do so right now. ;)
[replying to myself with some longwinded rambling bc I didn't want to spam up my OP with it... sorry in advance for the tldr, tho... but JIC you care to read it, DD:] Srsly, tho, some good objective points by you as well, not just unabashed Astros praise. This is my first video of yours, so I have no idea which team or teams you root for, but... it doesn't really matter, you've got a good style and tone. [I did just notice that behind you is a Toronto Blue Jays WS champs banner and you showed an Astros/Blue Jays clip from early in April this year, so I'm guessing that may have answered my question... I like the Blue Jays as well, I was rooting for both the Mariners and them to make it to the playoffs the past few years when both teams were so close but weren't getting in every year... keep on beating the Yankees, Blue Jays, that's the main thing!] I don't know that the 2024 Astros start was THAT bad a start... well, okay, the parts where the Astros were in 4th or 5th place in the AL West was pretty damned bad, but they pretty quickly got to 3rd place behind Seattle and Texas. It started to turn around when they won both the games against the Colorado Rockies in Mexico City several weeks into the season. THAT was pretty badass. And at that point, they were IMO no worse than the 15-30 start they had in the early 2000s which made the Houston Chronicle infamously put a giant tombstone on the front page of the entire paper or at least the sports section, one or the other (both?! por que no los dos?!? ;D) and yet made it to the ALCS or the WS that year (don't remember offhand which year that was, either 2004 or 2005, IOW). So um... yeah, we've been here before. Astros kinda suck in Aprils and May. It's even happened more recently than the 2000s. At least once or twice before in the current AL dynasty 2017-present years, so.... Thank goodness (for us Houstonians, at least) that they can turn it on in June (usually). Now it's just a marathon, not a sprint, to see what happens in the end. As I mentioned in an edited-to-add above, I do like Seattle a lot, too, so I'm glad we're chasing them right now instead of Texas! ;D
Damn didn’t even mention Christian Javier, Lance McCullers, Luis Garcia, JP France or Jose Urquidy being out. That’s a starting rotation on some teams in addition of JV being out
The head coach is not letting the pitchers pitch what they want best way they were losing at first I don't know if they're letting the pitchers pitch what they want now, but you remember Dusty Baker he was letting the pitchers pitch what they wanted, but the area that Dusty Baker messed up on was when Dusty would take out the pitchers, and the other team didn't even get a run; you don't do that! you take out the pitcher when the other team getting runs especially on the playoff game or more than that in the world series game and that's what Dusty Baker was doing that's why the Astros lost
The Astros have spent almost the whole year with an entire starting pitching staff - Verlander, McCullers, Javier, Garcia, and Urquidy - on the injured list. They are back over .500, on an 11-2 win streak. Looks like MAMA (Make America Mad Again!).
The AL West is weak this season. Currently, the Astros are 46-44 (0.511). Yes, I believe the Mariners will not last in first place. However, I wouldn’t be expecting a World Series parade this season in Houston.
Guys, guys… Guys… Please always remember that baseball is not about who’s better. Believe me, I have seen better teams lose unexplainably to horrible teams and it makes no sense any way you look at it. It all boils down to who’s HOT. Right now, the Houston Astros are on fire, if they keep this synergy they can compete in the playoffs easily. Really in truly though, when it comes to the final 4 and the world series, the only team that’s ever going to win is who’s hot, who’s stealing bases, who’s getting hits to get off base, the teams that are actually making movements each inning and not staying stagnant and allow the other team opportunities to get points and fuel their detriment. edit: the start of the season the Braves started out hot, now they slowed down and then the Phillies started to be hot, now they are starting to stagnate as well.

Me too. What's funny is, alot of the NFL fans can't stand the Chiefs either...just because they're proven winners
WE JUST CHOOSE TO TURN IT ON A LITTLE LATE BECAUSE IT IS SO FULLFILLING TO CRUSH YOUR HOPES AND DREAMS OF US NOT WINNING OUR DIVISION.
Haha. I knitted a sweater for an octopus. I made an extra hole for all its hopes and dreams.
Here for end of August and Astros are #1 in the division 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
GM Dana Brown was hoping to cut the 10 game deficit in half by Aug 1. As of July 5, it’s down to 2 and reinforcements are coming…. Scary Hours.
Astros are on the heels (2 out) of the Mariners right now. After the break, they should get Tucker back, plus a couple pitchers including Verlander.
Everyone knew this day would come. That said they are DESPERATE for pitching.
I literally can’t count how many starters are on the IL.
I believe that the pitch clock is to blame.
A LOT of teams are experiencing an unusual number of pitchers out, and sadly with tommy john.
And Luis Garcia is starting his rehab in single A right now
Amazing video ❤️
The Astros are the way.
They are back !!!
Why would you say this? We get it, you know Astros baseball history. This is a different decade, different team, same name
@al1engreyassh0le4 Sports stats are usually a series of trends. Sure they are irrelevant but why not?
I'm in a much better mood going into July now.😁
don’t ever estimate my Astros.
As a lifelong Astros fan, this video pleases me.
Thank you for your blatant appeal to all of Houston to subscribe to your channel, good sir! I shall do so right now. ;)
[replying to myself with some longwinded rambling bc I didn't want to spam up my OP with it... sorry in advance for the tldr, tho... but JIC you care to read it, DD:]
Srsly, tho, some good objective points by you as well, not just unabashed Astros praise. I like the Blue Jays as well, I was rooting for both the Mariners and them to make it to the playoffs the past few years when both teams were so close but weren't getting in every year... keep on beating the Yankees, Blue Jays, that's the main thing!]
I don't know that the 2024 Astros start was THAT bad a start... well, okay, the parts where the Astros were in 4th or 5th place in the AL West was pretty damned bad, but they pretty quickly got to 3rd place behind Seattle and Texas.
That’s a starting rotation on some teams in addition of JV being out
The head coach is not letting the pitchers pitch what they want best way they were losing at first
I don't know if they're letting the pitchers pitch what they want now, but you remember Dusty Baker he was letting the pitchers pitch what they wanted, but the area that Dusty Baker messed up on was when Dusty would take out the pitchers, and the other team didn't even get a run;
you don't do that! you take out the pitcher when the other team getting runs especially on the playoff game or more than that in the world series game and that's what Dusty Baker was doing that's why the Astros lost
Over .500 now look out!
Passed them Rangers Mariners are next 💯
Not enough credit goes to our scouts. We bring guys up and they mostly succeed. Some subtle call ups have really helped too.
AND NOW WE ARE #1 BABYYY!!!!!!!!!!!🧡💙🧡💙🧡💙🧡
Tucker has been injured and not playing most of the month. Did you do your homework?
What about Dubón?
All while Framber Valdez is our only healthy SP. Also, if Tuck played like himself in the postseason last year we would've won the World Series
Their record with and without Abreu is ridiculous
GO STROS!
Now they are .500! LETS GO STROS!
H- Town.... guess there not the laughing stock of the league anymore.. we're the new Evil Empire... remember... haters will hate
They do seem to have turned it around, but injuries are pilling up. If they can get healthy quickly then they can once again make a playoff run.
Nice job with the video
Astros getting warm!!! Just IN TIME
We need Tucker back bro!!! He is missed so much in the lineup.
Hunter brown has been cooking lately, so credit to him after a terrible start to the year
The Astros have spent almost the whole year with an entire starting pitching staff - Verlander, McCullers, Javier, Garcia, and Urquidy - on the injured list. They are back over .500, on an 11-2 win streak. Looks like MAMA (Make America Mad Again!).
The Astros Win a world Series every time a Hurricane Hits Houston: Thank You Beryl: October Baseball 2024 World Series Champions this year.
I love Jose abreu. But man as soon as we dropped him the team just seems completely different
