Been a fan of this channel for years, randomly need to do the filter on my 94. Googled it, and imagine my surprise when I hear this man's familiar voice in the video! Thanks dude!!!
I think it could very well be your fuel filter. Especially if you havent changed it in a while. Plus its only a few bucks (check that link in the description) and it needs to be done every year, so if it doesnt work, it is still something you needed to do anyway.
Thank you so much for this video all I needed to know is the correct direction to place the fuel filter and no one could answer. This was so easy to understand and find !! Keep it up!!! Thanks again.
Great video. This will help quite a bit when we replace the fuel filter and fuel flex stub lines between the filter and the hard lines on our 1993 YJ 2.5.
Great vid. Mine's an 87 wrangler so the filter is under the hood. It keeps dying so I'm going to change the filter. Someone suggested going to a single outlet as opposed to a dual outlet filter. What do you think?
If my Wrangler has gas in it...but isn't receiving gas when I push on accelerator..kid of sputtering and then was not receiving power/gas......would this be my first fix to try? thanks Inge..seems simpler than doing pump etc. first...
Wanted to get your opinion - my 95 6 cyl. has been sputtering and seemingly misfiring under heavy throttle (very intermittently, with no real pattern). I've changed plugs and wires and the next logical step seems to be the fuel filter. Any suggestions of other areas to look into?
Cole Posey It could possibly be the fuel filter.. fuel pump... I would imagine its something fuel related if its giving you a 'chuging' feeling at full throttle.
I had the the same issues. Could be a lot of things. These yj have an ass load of vacuum lines. Check those. I ended up replacing the tps, o2 sensor rebuild the tbi, replaced the injector, tested the cat, map sensor, distributor, wires and plugs and it ended up being a butt load of vacuum leaks from old cracked hoses. I found the leaks by taking my cigarette and blowing smoke through the lines and looking were all the smoke leaked out of and holy crap I had 5 hoses that I had to replace. Since I replaced everything else figured might as well replace the fuel filter lol..why not
My 95yj just started leaking fuel onto the leaf springs under the fuel filter about 4 days ago. It only does it while the jeep is running otherwise everything is fine. I checked all the rubber hoses and for the life of me I can't find a crack or break. (only spent about 5min or so looking because its so cold outside and what not. BUT* lol I've not changed my fuel filter since I've owned my jeep and I got it back in ohhh idono 03. (I know, I know, shame on me) that aside.. Any chance it could be that my filter is just super blocked up and the extra pressure is causing gas to leak out from one of the crimped ends? I'm not trying to be lazy, I will definitely give it a much closer look once I'm not having to lay on my back in 16 degree weather and 8in of snow/ice. Any feedback would be welcome. P.S. sorry this msg was so long.
Hola, I have the same jeep 91 YJ and I've replaced the fuel filter and gasket for the fuel pump, I keep smelling gas checked the filter and nothing, what else can it be?
My 1991 wrangler yj, started sputtering in 4 wheel drive, coming up a hill in the snow. I made it home and pressed on the gas pedal. It started cutting out, when I pressed on the gas, Please help ?
could you help? my jeep is the same y,m,m and when i drive the jeep seems to jerk and not want to go. is this because i need to change the fuel filter or could it be something else?
My Jeep is randomly chopping like it isn’t getting gas or air, it shouldn’t be my air filter as it’s brand new, and my air box line to my throttle body is clear
Just wanted to get your thoughts. My 95 Wrangler 4 cylinder has suddenly become gutless on inclines, most notably during freeway driving. I've also noticed a rushing air sound directly connected to use of the accelerator. And when I apply the gas to get up to speed on inclines the gas pedal becomes ineffective beyond a certain point. Everywhere I've checked I keep seeing fuel filter as a cause. Any other ideas?
kNOwWHEREtoR1 Maybe the fuel filter... does the engine overheat at all? My cherokee would become gutless on hills and overheat way fast due to a blown head gasket. But if yours doesnt over heat, start with the simpler things like fuel filter and see what happens .
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching.
My brother plzzzz Give Me ONe Phone plzzz 😔❤️

Thanks ;-) I actually put a 4 inch lift on my wrangler, and made a video of how to do it. You'll be seeing that one tomorrow.
Thank you for leaving this video up. I have a 91 yj and this is the perfect video to show me how.
That was short and sweet. Thank you. We hope this helps our next step in getting it to run.

Thanks. A local shop charged $120 to put on a fuel filter. Thanks for the video
It could be in a different place, depending on which Jeep you have.
thanks for the video jerry
. it helped me a lot because I have jeep wrangler 94

Nice Job. Thanks. I hunted everywhere but there. Appreciate your doing this.
+Kennith Scruggs No problem! Glad I could help out.

Thanks! Ill def be doing this on Sunday now. Great vid
Lifesaver!!! Thanks for this video!!
Very informative. I'm sure I'll be referring to it later. Thanks for the help and you have a new sub.
Its possible. Or it could be the throttle position sensor. (TPS)
thank you! this helped alot on my 89yj
No problem man! Its a fun project.
Thank you. Very much. Going to give it a whirl tomorrow....girls and their JEEPS.
Will it be in the same spot for a 1998 Jeep TJ
? THANK YOU!
Very helpful thanks
Thank you so much
JerryRig had a 91 YJ? And I found out by deep diving google to figure out my own replacement?

Thanks, great job.

Ya, definitely check the fuel filter. It could be leaking out of either side. Especially if it is super plugged up.
Thanks man! Your channel is awesome BTW. I'll keep ya updated if that's cool.
How do you release the fuel pressure? Looking to do the same on my '97 cherokee.
Does the fuel need to be drained before doing this?
thedrewdiddy No. What is in the lines will leak out. But the tank will still stay full.
+JerryRigEverything thank you this answer! seems like everywhere online doesnt answer this.
Pretty similar to my '96 Cherokee. Fuel Injected though.. need to release fuel pressure on mine so ya don't get a bath.
Hola, I have the same jeep 91 YJ and I've replaced the fuel filter and gasket for the fuel pump, I keep smelling gas checked the filter and nothing, what else can it be?
the fuel filter is on the engine by carb on 1987 4.2 yj
why does your jeep have a fuel filter and mine doesn't?
Thanks!
My Jeep YJ 89 6 cyl keeps shutting down when i slow up or stop. Will fuel filter help the problem
Thanks for Subscribing! Glad I could help. If you have any questions just let me know.
My 1991 wrangler yj, started sputtering in 4 wheel drive, coming up a hill in the snow.
I made it home and pressed on the gas pedal. It started cutting out, when I pressed on the gas, Please help ?
Interesting I don't have one on my 87 Laredo I dunno if something is rigged or the fact that it's a 4.2L ( Carburetor )
Is this for a 4.0? Mine is in the gas tank 03 rubi
could you help? my jeep is the same y,m,m and when i drive the jeep seems to jerk and not want to go. is this because i need to change the fuel filter or could it be something else?
It could be the fuel filter, or the Throttle Position Sensor. Its hard to say over the internet. But those would be my first guess.
my 97 tj intermintingly jerks. any ideas? I GAVE IT A PROFESSIONAL tune up. but it still does it. some days more than others.
My tj does the same thing!! I thought it was maybe the transmission slipping but I have no clue. Have you found anything out about it??
