@@MileMarker4k Thank you. I live on the west coast, so anywhere on the east coast is good for me. I like the neighborhood driving because I can see all of the houses. Happy holidays to you and yours. :)
@@nancy9704 Then this is the place! I have quite a few on here and will be doing a tour of New England Christmas towns over the next couple weeks! Happy holidays to you and yours!
I hadn't seen this video before this morning. I love 103 and we take it into Kittery at least once when we're staying in Maine. I love the peek-a-boo views of the harbor as you enter Kittery and I always think how nice it would be to live in one of those houses.
@@MileMarker4k : I grew up there. 103 is definitely the back way up to York! Beautiful scenery, but it can get rather cold and windy in the winter! Kittery and Eliot ( the town just north of Kittery) are basically bedroom towns, and don't get the crazy influx of tourists every summer that York, Ogunquit, and all of the other coastal towns get. What is amainf from seeing this video is how much that road has been built up since I was a kid - the road used to be EMPTY once past Chauncy Creek Road until you got to York Harbor! Looking st the google map now, it is unrecognizable from what it was. Just off of 103 is Chauncy Creek lobster pound, on Chauncy Creek road ( you passed it at about the 5:20 mark in the video ( not positive about that - it has been a LOT of years since I was last there, and things look a lot different!) - probably the coolest lobster pound you will ever find anywhere, and it has been there since at least the early '50's. Used to go there as a child in the '50's and 60's. There is also a small beach at the end of the road ( after it turns into Seapoint Road) that for the most part only the locals know about. On your right (while on Chauncy creek Road) is what used to be, way back when, an island (Gerrish Island) that houses Fort Foster, an old submarine spotting and gun battery fort from WW1 & 2. Half of the island was privately owned by one family, but was sold off back in the 70's ( I could have bought it for a half million!) that now has some of the priciest homes in the area. The fort is well worth a visit, as you get to see a lot of the harbor area. You also go by Ft. McClary, which has been there since the Revolutionary War, and was manned up until WW1. Again, well worth the visit. If you continue up State Road ( the road you were on when you crossed into Maine), there is a traffic circle with a memorial to the USS Thresher (SSN 593)- the submarine that was built at the navy yard and was lost at sea in 1963 - the worst submarine loss ever. My father was supposed to be on the shakedown cruise, but thankfully medical issues kept him at home.

I just happened to see this video this morning on my tv while on RUclips, I was amazed at how beautiful the video was, I was not only sitting in the front seat, I felt I was sitting on your hood.... everything was sooooo clear and crisp, loved this video and now I have to catch up on your other videos...
Yessss look at the sky the homes the greenery just omg I'm in heaven. Been reading about Maine. I could just get a lawn chair sit outside and look up at the sky so beautiful I know the air is so fresh
Beautiful video of beautiful Maine! My favorite new england state, i met 99.9% nice people there and the nature/countryside is amazing! i love Bangor and the coastal towns the most, i hope i can visit again in the future 😊👍
Hope you get to make it back soon! As the weather turns I'll be trying to make it to Maine a few times. Happy to try and fulfill any requests if you have one!
@@MileMarker4k Thank you for the reply! I'd like to see Augusta (never been there) and the Bar Harbor Area in 2023 (seen it 2017, very nice). Drive safe! 🙂

I agree. I'm from NZ too and something about Maine, actually the whole of New England, calls me somehow. It looks like many parts of NZ but on a grander scale (the scenery) The winters though..... eek 😂
I LIKE the video drive through! See a LOT more than little squares on gps… But…🙄is that 30mph through those Tight nit house areas?? I’m no authority-don’t worry-i see signs in those tight spots and places like elsewhere-cape cod-everywhere seemed like 30. Maybe You ARE @‘that speed! & viewing it seems faster than when we drive it-obviously your cameras Dadh mounted because it’s SO SMOOTH!👍(but we know, people walk out into the street with their heads in the clouds!) . Ps loved the Mini Suspension Bridge! Never knew about it to I came across your video👍😊
Thank you! No worries needed lol these cameras do tend to make it look faster than it actually is - been asked many times on many driving videos Ironically many times I miss the views when the cameras are on because I'm on high alert for speed limits and cloud lookers 😂
It's a really hard balance on faster public roadways. Drive slow enough to catch it but fast enough to not cause traffic/be safe. The cameras also seem to "add" the illusion of it being faster than I drive

I was looking for a channel that just drives around different places I've never seen, and no talking! It's so relaxing and calming. Thank you
Glad I could help you escape for a little while! Can't promise to make it depending how far it is. But any places you'd like to see?

I live in NZ, and if I were to ever go to the US, I would stay in a township like this in Maine. Screw NY, LA, this is where the real folk live
Well said! US has so many amazing places away from the big cities

boy, what speed are you traveling at? love the blue water-looks seriously cold.
haha I think 50 was the fastest I went. The one thing everyone can agree on with Maine...that water IS cold!
It IS cold!
Nice place , I have to go and drive , one day , in Maine ( Gg from France )
You definitely should. So many great spots along that part of the Maine coast
Is majority part of usa like this?
Yes and no. Along the coastal routes in the northeast yes. But changes drastically as you go south or west or into the mountains
Road surface looks horrible in Kittery..
The northeast on the whole will never be famous for their roads unfortunately
These people that make these videos need to drive a little slower. It goes so fast you can't see the architecture of the homes and businesses.
