I've still got my 15" 2015 MBP with AMD R9 M370X Graphics and 16gb Memory. I recently purchased a new 16" MBP to replace it, but if I wanted to I could have kept on using my 2015 model. Every 2-3 years I would replace the battery with a genuine iFixit battery, and I also reapplied some quality thermal paste inside and it just gave it a fresh feel. Its screen, keyboard, and trackpad are still excellent even for 2024 standards. The ports are great, and the 2x TB2 ports can do 4K 60 up to 2x external monitors, plus the laptops 3k display as well. For things like web browsing, RUclips, MS Office, light programming, and even light gaming like the Sims 4, Minecraft, Left 4 Dead 2 etc it runs well. The build quality is exceptional and has lasted me 9 years without a scratch or mark on it. Truly an exceptional device. Just try using a "high-end" 2015 Windows laptop today, it would be an absolute mess with hinge issues, hardware failures, broken keys, driver errors, lack of support etc. MacBooks are made to last, and the 2015 Retina model was just that
im amazed that it can do that,I have seen people barely able to play fortnite on low settings on them. But then again they are high screen resolution. I just know when in bootcamp, windows take full advantage of the actually not-so-bad r9 370x in these machines. They actually end up performing really well. The fans just end up sounding like a PS4 lol

I have a windows laptop, been using since 2015 - it is the Hp Spectre X360 i7-5500U and to this day it hasn't skipped a beat. I did the same kind of maintenance, thermal paste refresh, cooling fan cleaned, battery replaced every 3 years and I am using this right now. No hinge damage, no screen damage, no keys broken zero errors, and windows supports and updates still work..
I feel like the premium series of windows laptops are now catching up and have been since a decade, take Dell's XPS , Hp's Spectre, Asus Zephyrus, Lenovo's Legion Pro - all have premuim build materials and finishing, the hinges are great.
I am looking to get a new laptop and decided to try a macbook this time..

Got mine in September 2016 and it's still running strong nearly two University degrees later!
I believe this particular MacBook with its particular ports is a particular device he particularly loves.

I bought a 15 inch i7 with 16 gigs ram last week. New battery and looks brand new. Works amazing. I dont use it for editing videos or pictures. I have a M2 ipad pro that I use for that. But for everything else I use the laptop. Researching, writing papers, watching videos. I like the nostalgia I get with the glowing apple sign.

+ i have Lenovo i5 gen 11 every things is fine but in simple video editing or multi-tasking too many bugs and lag I think to sell to buy the MacBook pro 2015 i7 16 ran -512gb SSD-
@@Medo341q definitely worth 400. Anything lite duty it will still handle like a champ. Don’t expect lightning fast rendering speeds but if you’re using it for basic everyday stuff it works great. Make sure you install something to control fan speed and you won’t complain.
Got into my 15 Pro today to replace thermal paste and found batteries bulging. Perfect timing for service. I’ll have this 2015 15 MacBook for as long as can. Love it!

Have not yet updated to Sonoma. Monterey serves me well at the moment for my casual use, however plenty of videos to upgrade OS. Too buggy for me to attempt. 😳
@@mejru5833 opencore legacy patch works great on these machines so you can install Sonoma
@@mejru5833 I have an early 2015 i5 16g ram. Running OCLP Sonoma 14.5, runs smooth. Not the fastest by today's standards but good enough for light browsing and task.
I love my 13" late 2013 MBP. While performance is outdated, its perfect for reading the news, or watching 2k videos. Anything else I'd do on my Gaming rig.
just bought this one,... around 4 hours long battery use for normal task...but it suck when handling heavy task... need to plug my power to mbp so it can run well... but its still a beast for me,...
You can update these to Sonoma as I've done with OCLP. The process is pretty easy or you can use Ubuntu or another Linux distro.
I like having a SD card slot and USB-A while dated is cool for me. The screens are still cool and if what most of what you do is stream videos, browse the web and other low impact things you'll be good.
That said its likely that the next version of MacOS won't support Intel Macbooks.
the are dirt cheap - last week i bought 2 of the just because they were so cheap. forthe 2015 i paid 80€ and for a late 2013 i just paid 30€. definetly recommended for that prices
I use mine every day. Purchased new and maxed out so was a particularly good investment

I need to update my 2015 MacBook Pro. This lasted me nearly 10y! I would like to up grade this year to another mac that will last me a long period of time. What are your thoughts.
I bought my 15” Retina display used 3 years ago in near mint condition. I’ll have this unit for many years to come. Disassemble, clean and thermal paste tomorrow. It’s due.
I have a M1 MacBook Air, but I miss a larger screen. I am happy with the M1 Air’s performance, considering my use case is content consumption and educational work with occasional PowerPoint presentations. While using it sometimes I wish for additional screen space. So as a secondary machine for content consumption and text based work and considering the relative affordability of these machines, is picking one up justified? Also, I usually watch 4K x265 videos, can the 4th gen intel chips actually handle it? I have watched many videos talking about the relevance of the device in 2023/24 but none of them seem to be covering this aspect. I used to own a 4th gen i5 desktop and it couldn’t handle it then and I don’t know many people with a 2015 MacBook Pro to confirm it for me. I would sincerely appreciate your input. Keep up your good work. Looking forward for more crispy content.
yes,a 2015 15 inch macbook pro would do just fine. Video rely more on your gpu/graphics card. These macbooks come standard with a radeon r9 370x m,which is more than enough for that. They are easy to fix and upgrade machines, and are honestly great machines. They can be upgraded to MAX mac os 12 Monterey

@@abekurianisac9159 it should not do to bad. Apple has undervolting and performance enhancing integrated into their software. The 4th gen i5 desktop should lose to it badly (2015 macbook has a i7-4870hq or 4820hq which is 4 cores 8 threads, the i5 is 4 cores 4 threads. No hyperthreading is available then, and windows does not have really any performance enhancing tweaks integrated into it). The macbook has hyperthreading. Again, combing it with the r9 gpu should be able to handle it. Mac designed their laptops around users who are doing what you are doing. It if anything, you might just have to upscale the resolution to make you machine run it, but you should not really even have to do that. As a secondary device, this would be perfect as you can normally pick them up for around 300 dollars on ebay. The upgrade ability and reliability this has compared to 2016-2020 models is crazy better. These are way less prone to failure and are built a lot better with the consumer in mind. I promise that this macbook will not let you down.

The photoshop performance should be nothing short of great. These macs were designed for that. It doesn't take a really high-specced machine to do that. It would work great for you are suggesting
if i could i would get it cause i only want it for produce music with logic pro, cause logic pro its so amazing so i dont care about the rest. if baterry its good and the whole structure of the computer inside and out works great i would got it. specially cause the new macs with m1 chips are really really expensive.

I buy mine too for 80$ still running smoothly and still receiving security updates I just turn of keyboard lighting and lower screen brightness and don't let speakers work just plug in headphones 4hours is maximum of it
for me I can watch 3hrs worth of movies in full volume before I need to charge it. for browsing and just RUclips it can last about half day

Yes, I have recently updated my early 2015 MacBook Pro to Sonoma using Open Core Patcher. It works without any problem.
Does anyone else have the issue of the corners of the screen being much brighter than the rest of the display, especially the bottom left corner? It's a pity really because the retina displays such an outstanding performance but the bright corners just kill it, especially when you're trying to watch a movie : (

you can upgrade to macos monterery, which is still macos 12. That will hold the average consumer over for at least another 3 to 4 years. Maybe more.
@@_TyposIf I installed Windows on it, I can pretty much treat it as a 15' 8th gen i5 ultrabook with a huge battery, phenomenal build and thunderbolt.
I would say it's worth it for $300, the price I paid for mine back in summer 2022.

I'm a student and im thinking about buying a laptop for my needs at university. Basically multi-tasking, writing reports in word with extensions (Mendeley), seeing multiple books and documents at the same time. But I wanted quality without being much outdated and for a low budget (around 500€ for a refurbished laptop). Many people recommended me to seek a macbook according to my needs and the quality I wanted but I'm lost in the models and the quality of them. If u guys can give me opinions on the best possible options I can get for a macbook I appreciate it 🫶
